Agreed - and think of the extra cars! Whatever happened to the environmentally attentive prince? Sorry I forgot the private jet (which they will probably use to go to South Africa for the moneymoon).
Plus you would think that they would opt for French cars anyway...just to promote the connection.

thanks and welcome mariebeth my favorite parts The palace and Monaco's tourist board have joined forces to orchestrate the wedding (nothing says love and commitment like a tourist board ROLLING on the floor) is this because FATal can't be bothered and trashlene has no taste or style....NOW THAT IS FUNNY) a South African swimming champswimming champ is pushing it but at least the writer didn't lie and say teacher or call her elegant or compare her to grace the wedding of the century" by the tourist board, well we know thats a big fat lie> PR FAIL a unique opportunity for tourismhow romantic! snort snort ROFL If all the population plus guests [tourists] shows up, we could easily double or even triple the number of visitors we had for Albert's ascension to the throne" in 2005, which was 28,000, Monaco spokeswoman Genevieve Berti said at a briefing in Zurich designed to promote Monaco to Swiss touristsok i guess the bar has been set > 3@ is 64,000 2@ is 56,000 and 28,000 is the lowest to show up or it'll be a failure (like we know it will) i thought 3,500 was wishful thinking, but those numbers are delusional. I'd be really interested in how many people showed up in zurich for the "briefing" to promote moronaco. seizing upon marketing tools more at home in reality shows and movie premieres to inject a shot of fairy-tale glamour into the mini-state's flagging tourism industrythe non dynamic duo is a reality show, both shallow and stupid but i can't look away wouldn't a beautiful couple in love provide the fairy tale......oh wait we're talking business oopie i forgot my bad (see truth in advertising below) Behind the pageantry lies a long-term business plan, observers say. "I think the objective is probably to rebrand Monaco as a kind of fairy-tale place, and not only a place where you hide your money,"MEOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW But also like Switzerland, Monaco can no longer buck international pressure and has watered down its secrecy laws, which is expected to hurt tourism numbers.that's not true ask FatAl's corrupt cronies and the mafia, the non dynamic duo is what's hurting tourism so Monaco is taking the Albert-and-Charlene show on the road this month , detailing plans for July's elaborate four-day wedding festivities to foreign media in cities like Zurich and Moscow, and hoping the royal wedding will prompt demand for grand-scale weddings, especially from Asiai can't wait to see how that pans out, i predict a big PR FAIL Two French couples and a couple from the U.S. are set to orchestrate similarly lavish weddings in June and July, Mr. Rose, the Monaco tourism official, says. With 1,000 guests apiece, the three weddings have already attracted 2,000 hotel room bookings, he says.wouldn't it be funny if those weddings attract more tourists than the street corner circus! oh yes now that would be irony seems another writer isn't too impressed with the non dynamic duo but had to turn in something the editor could print. reading between the lines JMO PR FAIL

Thanks Mariebeth for posting the article! Countess, you hit all of my points. I read this article when it was first published and I was flabbergasted! Everything that Countess stated, I was going to note. This article was written in the travel section and I loved how the reporter, Katharina Bart, made the same conclusions that we did about this Albert and Charlene road show (which she actually called it). People with more than there brain cells can see Albert and Charlene's trashiness. Also, notice how Katharina put the word "tourists" in brackets after Monaco's spokesperson uses the word wedding guests. Albert and Charlene are really using the so-called invited wedding guests as tourists to make their wedding seem crowed. Watch - these people will not be true wedding guests, but space fillers throughout Monaco. If they are lucky, they might be given water for the heat. Countess really hit on all the other points that I was going to make - especially the reality show show reference to this street corner wedding and the tourists they are expected. Notice they included the entire population showing up to get three times the 28,000 people who showed up at Albert's ascension to the throne. These people really are absolutely certifiable delusional if they think the population of Monaco feel the same way about Albert as they do now. I will not be surprised, actually I am expecting, a gestapo article in the local paper THREATENING the Monaco people to show up for the wedding instead of begging as they did for them to greet Trashlene at the balcony on National Day. There was already a hint us this mentality in an article I had posted where a Monaco official stated that there were people who applied for Monaco citizenship but they didn't attend and greeted Albert at the balcony during National Day. These people are getting scary with their threats to show homage to this trashy couple and one day they are going to push people to far.
When I first saw the article, I starting to pull together all the former articles that I had posted on the old RD thread about all Monaco's director of Tourism's Michel Bouquier grandiose predictions made right after the engagement. Right now I just don't have the time and some of my earlier articles are on another computer and I have to redo all my info from RD. I am trying to complete my own research. but, I will pull it together and post it in a summary format with the full articles linked on hidden boards. The beginning of this trashy Albert and Charlene publicity road show is truly unbelievable. One day some one is going to write this story - and get it right with all its trashiness.

I am sure Tourist Bureau has made a deal with a big cruise liners to stop by Monaco on that day and unload their passengers to fill out the streets of Monaco. They will be given Monaco's little flags and be dropped off on different corners around the city. The sad part is that those "guests/tourists" will gladly do that just so they could tell their friends and relatives how they witnessed Monaco's "wedding of the year". It would not surprise me to see thousands of American retirees/tourists waving little flags with exhausted and confused looks on their faces. I bet they have all gotten a "nice" letter from the Palace in their mail box already.

Royal P, it sounds like a funny idea, but I can really see them doing this. This entire wedding is a made-for-tv event with the most important factor being what it looks like for the cameras. the larger the crowd, the better for the cameras. I am serious about the gestapo like letters for both citizens and residents to show up. They will be subtle but anyone with more than three brain cells will get their intent.

i totally agree, i have no doubt the palace gestapo has a list and will be checking it twice. i hope Monégasques all have pressing business and have to go out of the country. they have no free press or freedom of expression, the only voice they have is to vote with their feet.
oh that'd be priceless, the camera zooms in and its streets full of tacky tourist in shorts with sunburns. the visual is just priceless! people have been camping out for a week for the REAL royal wedding, don't let me forget to look and see how many campers the non dynamic duo get ROFL

After the announcement that Albert is giving out royal warrants - this time to Lexus as an official supplier to the "royal family of Monaco" - one of the articles on Google lets you know how important they are: www.autospies.com/news/Lexus-Becomes-The-Official-Carriage-For-The-Royal-Family-Of-Monaco-63487/For those who still believe in the institution of monarchy and the legitimacy of kings, queens and royalty in general in this day and age (… some 2,500 years after the Athenians gave birth to democracy), 2011 will be marked by the royal weddings of Prince William to Catherine Middleton, and to a lesser extent, Prince Albert II of Monaco to Miss Charlene Wittstock.

"and to a lesser extent, Prince Albert II of Monaco to Miss Charlene Wittstock."
Ouch! But, these two don't care as long as they get the free car.

I have a prediction after going over the Big Con's posts online (I wasn't aware of those other sites but the writing matches. So much makes more sense. I must pray for Monaco...)
My great predicition? Conlene will be wearing the SBM tiara. She's obsessed with it and it's probably the only piece of Grace's jewelry left for Albert's eventual use.

After seeing the British wedding, Albert and Charlene should just give it up and elope. There is no way that their wedding will even come close and the fact that it is held out on the street will really make people wonder about these two. (I can hear the commentators asking if Monaco has any churches where the wedding could be held.)
William and Kate had a private wedding that because of his position, they let the world peek in on. There were little touches throughout, such as William not looking at Kate till she got to the altar, that they planned for themselves, not to impress the world. They wanted a special day with little touches that they could treasure throughout their lives. The fact the world was watching was just something they had to put up with, not the objective of the event.
Albert is putting on a made-for-tv wedding for which he hired Charlene to play the bride part. There is no love here or desire to create private memories. The spirit of the whole thing is wrong and once it is over, Albert will have made Monaco a huge joke because everyone will still have the memories of William and Kate fresh in their minds and everyone will clearly see that Al and the con artist are not in love (except for those people who refuse to face facts).
It is interesting that while the obvious comparisons to Charles and Diana's wedding, the wedding most used to compare William and Kate's to was Rainier and Grace's which was over fifty years ago. Note there have been many royal weddings in the ensuing years, but none of those were mentioned that I heard. Obviously the dress helped, but commentators were already making the comparison before they saw the dress. Once Albert and Charlene trot out their charade, people are going to react as if they are smelling bad fish and wonder how two people so in love on their wedding day could create such a strange man.
I truly don't know how Albert can go forward with this wedding after what he saw this past Friday. Is true love and companionship just something that he can not understand?

scout: 1001% agree! Will & Kate won't even come to the Monaco wedding PR-event gag to bring media and attention.
Every circumstance arround this "wedding" is turning against them because the spirit inside is wrong. After Friday 29th there is no way he and Monaco can gain anything from this planned marriage. It was set up as PR-event. It failed befor it took place. The negative consequences would be 10.000 higher than the positive effect - if there even was one cause everything backfired.
Just call it off. The game is over. Rien ne va plue...

Even if they have the most fabulous wedding of the century there is one thing they cannot alter and that is themselves. He, a man in his fifties and heavily overweight, she, blonde, being 20 years younger than him but in a way looking the same age. They are not really an advertisement for happiness and love. They come across very fake. In a way they deserve each other and because of that they are perfect for each other. That way no innocent person will unknowingly end up with one of them.

What is this about the wedding being changed yet again, as Er posted on his blog? The link to Monaco Hebdo froze on me.

without looking at that video, the video looks like it was shot in the backroom of a gas station and the gas attendant is being held at gunpoint to say what he's supposed to say.
