LOL yes and they are only doing it because Grace did and Letizia had sth similar. This is a copy/paste wedding. Nothing else. I wonder whether they will be taking sth from Maximas wedding as well and get someone play music from back home so she can get some tears rolling...I bet she will have some onions in her bouquet so she can cry a little for the cameras, seeing that he smile resembles the one of the dark knight nowadays. moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/image/article/884/884606/the-dark-knight-20080626110612646.jpg

WEll, I think this thread soon will have to be called the who will not attend thread. From what I hear (getting the gossip delivered right into my living room today), they are having a hard time trying to get their own people interested to see the court yard show. Apparently all Monegasques can come to the mass if they want to. But that just seems to be the problem; if you want to attend you need to inscribe yourself in a list. Usually this is done at the city hall. Apparently hardly anyone went, so they changed it and you can go to certain shops etc as well and put your name down there. Seems like still only few are doing it. The official excuse is that they can see better on TV Inofficially, a large number does not like that the wedding is not taking place in the cathedral, especially since it is the 100th anniversary of the cathedral. And then it seems that the bride is not liked at all. They find her cold and either have had bad encounters with her or have heard of someone who did. the best you hear is that she is bizarre. Apparently now they have started to invite all sorts of people who have had some contact with the family. Caroline has invited Andrea's former piano teacher, with whom they have kept in touch over the years. So a lot of people who are coming are not coming for the couple, but for other family members. In the case of the piano teacher it is gratitude and respect towards Caroline and her children for having helped when times were difficult. It does remind me of a scene in a Romy Schneider Sissy movie, where the imperial couple is attending an opera at la Scala and the local nobility sends their servants.( I am expecting to read this line soon in a German tabloid ) I believe that Albert completely underestimated the intelligence of his people. People do not like her for having had all that surgery, for never having worked and for not having an education. And they do not like either, that they are invited to come to a wedding only so they have a crowd to present. They do not see that they have actually made an effort these past years when she was dragged along, to actually convince the people that she will be doing a good job. The fact that she still does not speak the language although she has had plenty of time and opportunity to do so, is not in her favor either. The French (and Monegasques too) are not known to be good in languages themselves, so they are rather forgiving when you do not master it as a foreigner. But when they notice that you are making an honest effort and are getting better, they reward you with a lot of respect. On the other hand, when they see that you are not willing to learn it, and in trashys case she is not only not willing, but wants to be their princess, they decide to not like you. They do not believe that she wants to be their princess as in doing the job, as otherwise she would have acquired a certain fluency in the language by now, after all these years in Monaco. You can not be wanting to do the job and not learning the language of those for whom you are supposed to be doing it. IMO if she does not get her act together straight after the wedding, the dislike will turn into open hostility very soon. ANd a photo op will not do the trick. Everyone here knows that a wedding will not boost the economy, just like the tour de France didn't do it either. Only the tour did cost a lot less. They will not have to publish the cost of the wedding, people know anyways. And they will be very unforgiving if their living conditions continue to go down and the new princess continues the way she has been doing things these past years. And I won't even mention all her hangers on that are making themselves greatly unpopular around here with their behaviour and attitude of entitlement. Thanks for the update. Not surprising at all. And we saw this coming months ago, too.

I took a quick look at Oggi mag at the supermarket: they write that Charlene is very likely to be wearing one of Grace's tiara on her wedding day, thus breaking an old Grimaldi tradition.

Well, South African President Zuma cannot (will not) attend the wedding and Charlene was supposed to meet him this week but she "postponed" the meeting until after the wedding. Anybody want to bet that these fame-whores will make a big photo opp (publicity stunt) of the meeting while they are having a second lavish party in Durban. I love how Conlene brags about all the South Africans in Monaco during the Grand Prix - i.e. all the South Africans freeloading of the Village Idiot Albert of Monaco. Good lawd Albert is a complete fool to be scammed by this woman! As always, Conlene keeping the press informed of her every fame-whore move, from the Benoni City Times:
Charlene Wittstock's meeting with Zuma postponed 27 May 2011 by Clyde Meela
Just a few weeks before her much-anticipated royal wedding in Monaco, Charlene Wittstock, a former South African Olympic swimmer, from Benoni, was invited to meet President Jacob Zuma before her wedding, but the meeting has since been postponed to after the wedding.
She was due to be travelling to South Africa this week to meet President Zuma, as he can not attend the wedding, due to previous official commitments.
She added: "He would very much like to meet me and I am extremely honoured and excited to meet him.
She said this before the meeting was postponed.
On May 27 she was awarded the Global Ambassador award for the Special Olympics and her feeling about this is "Amazing!"
"I am doing very well, very happy and content about the wedding.
She said: "My family is doing fine, and they are enjoyed the festivities surrounding the Grand Prix.
"There were many South Africans here at the Grand Prix."
She and Prince Albert II will be arriving in Durban on July 5 for the IOC meeting at the Durban International Convention Centre.

"He would very much like to meet me..." WTF??
OMG this is just starting. Doesn't she realize that statements like this makes her look like what she actually is? A BIF F*CKING NARCISSIST?!

Ditto, Emmeline!
Also, even though the article is in a SA paper, would it have killed her and the paper to mention something about the Monegasques who are paying for this whole charade?

Also, i think it's funny that a SA newspaper mention this. It makes think that Charlene is not even liked in her native SA.

I told you that they are having problems filling the seats. Monegasques do not want to attend. Since they have been bragging about this, now they have to get the seats filled. My kids piano teacher will be there. She is nether rich, nor Monegasque nor famous in any way. She does have no connections to Albert or trashy. They should really take a hard look at themselves, cause for the avenement, they did not need to write invites and beg people to come. Everyone wanted to be there, was proud to be there and it was a great atmosphere. The wedding won't come close and they will most like drive along a mostly empty street to get to St devote.

Paca I think you are totally correct here. We're getting into a "rubber meets the road" phase and she can't punt up.

they have also ordered teachers to come to the mass. they are supposed to look after the children. Officially they have been asked, but this being Monaco, they didn't have a choice. the excitement was of course accordingly. no one feels honored or happy to have been asked. it's more an oh well, guess I have to....with heaps of other events these past years, they never had a problem getting volunteers and especially such reluctant volunteers.

Also, i think it's funny that a SA newspaper mention this. It makes think that Charlene is not even liked in her native SA. The late Jetstreaker (SA celeb site)was always poking fun at her. Though I believe they did that with everyone. I believe that Albert completely underestimated the intelligence of his people. People do not like her for having had all that surgery, for never having worked and for not having an education. And they do not like either, that they are invited to come to a wedding only so they have a crowd to present. They do not see that they have actually made an effort these past years when she was dragged along, to actually convince the people that she will be doing a good job. Assuming of course that Albert actually knows what's going on and how the locals are feeling. I'm seriously doubting that actually. None of his advisors are telling him the truth or he wouldn't be where he is now. He's never in Monaco to hear what the people are saying and even when he is in Monaco he travels by car, gets shielded from the commoners by his body guards and only gets to meet the (same) "social elite" at events. The days are long gone when he was approachable and running a mile along the harbour each morning. The dude is living in his own private bubble these days. (Which he takes along in his private jet to visit his private misstress at a private appartment etc.)

The Danish media is reporting that both couples will attend - Mary & Fred and Marie & Joachim. Conlene is probably having orgasm just thinking of the royals that will be there to finally look at her.

well, I don't know who usually takes on the costs for the stay and travel, but I bet for this one it will be Monaco. I think it's a bit like what happened when we used to invite the Chines: if we paid the bill, they'd all show up, if they had to pay sth, some would decline straight away, others would first confirm, then go maybe and then have an excuse...

The Monaco Matin is reporting thatthe have found out the names of the VIPs - royalty and heads of state that will be at the wedding of the century - but they haven't listed the names. I guess they might be listed on the palace website. I don't go their since it is just another shrine to Princess Trashlene. If anyone finds out the names from the palace website, please post them. Royal wedding: the first guests announced Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 7:50 p.m.
On Tuesday, in Monaco-Matin, learn the first names of the guests of Albert II and Charlene Wittstock of their marriage.
On 2 July, heads of state, royalty and VIPs from around the world will be waiting for you in the courtyard of the royal palace to see together and then attend a gala dinner, the chef Alain Ducasse and served on the terraces of the Opera.

I went looking to see and only found the crazy sugars commenting that Al's kids were not welcome because it was a "religious" ceremony. *BARF* Charlene's family should just sit on it and rotate at this point.
Do they mean that it will be next Tuesday, the announcement, maybe?
BTW, I saw an article on another forum about how comments on forums are skewed by Public Relations people (and even family members). They spend 'years' on forums trying to make their presence seem real but they are really paid members. A few places (Amazon.com and some other travel companies) are trying to weed them out but not having a lot of luck because they are so good at disguising themselves. They should hire MyAdia.
