There's a much longer article about the strikers in the Monaco Hebdo. IT is not known whether they will strike during the Grand Prix. The Union is angry at the un-named spokesperson that spoke to the media and stating the so-called wages of the workers (which is not done) leaving the impression that the strikers are greedy since they are so highly paid. Well, according to the Union they do NOT make that much. the bulk of their pay is received in tips, so they are asking SBM to increase their minimum wage they would get regardless of tips. It seems that Albert only cares about his wedding - the palace and the government asked the workers not to strike during the wedding and out of respect to the Prince and his family, the union will not strike during the wedding. I just have a feeling that all hell is going to break loose in Monaco after this wedding while Albert will be busy with something he prefers doing than running Monaco - the IOC and Charlene will be preparing her outfits for their lavish party (and of course showing off her new status as Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco). Here's an excerpt of the article. Strike at SBM After Easter, the Grand Prix? By Milena Radoman Thursday, May 5, 2011
...
"From 6758 to EUR 10 228 EUR per month" Better still, the SBM has lifted the sacred secret of the salaries of employees of games, stating that "the European games require an increase in guaranteed minimum of about 51% to, for example, to raise for an employee of 1 st level of 6,758 euros to 10,228 euros per month. " Adding that the cashiers, they, "have rejected a proposal to substantially increase their current compensation. " Going on strike in a context of international crisis is simply unacceptable to the spokesman of the SBM. Who drives the point home: "The SBM can only regret that such attitudes are adopted by addition of classes of employees among the most favored - including employees of European games - and precisely because of their privileged position should exercise more realism and responsibility. "
"1000 reasons to strike" For employees strike games, the declaration too. An unnecessary provocation."We have 1000 reasons to strike, and says Stephan Lorenz, a member of the Union of European games. But we are asking primarily a revaluation of our guaranteed minimum of approximately 7.7% compared to revenues of 6 years earlier. Remember also, that the casino is not a business. We are paid on the basis of our tips and that is why we require a higher minimum guarantee. " The revaluation correspond to an income of 10,000 euros a month? "Not at all, denies the union . I do not know the source of the figures released by the anonymous spokesman. And we also did not disclaim the SBM warned in time. "He added: "We're not crazy. Of 145 voters, 131 voted for the strike. It is difficult to believe that 93% of the crazy European games ... "
Recovery of the single status? Like slot machines, and Sun, the American game of Cafe de Paris, themselves, have serviced. "We received a note from the palace and the government asking us not to strike until marriage. Out of respect for the royal family, we will do nothing " , says Mikael Palmaro, deputy secretary general of the union of American games. However, no matter the social movement to vilify the European games, despite the turf squabbles: "We can understand their action. They work for the future. We are all worried. The casino is a social lung. But the numbers are dramatic. An employee earns more games he touched 30 years ago ... " For Michael Palmaro, "is the SBM, which has closed the door to dialogue. But now we must all get back to the table. " Or if not, the next social movement takes place ... during the weekend's Grand Prix of May 26 to 29 At just over a month's royal wedding. "Frankly, I have a heart. This weekend, we took hostage customers. And it must not happen again during the Grand Prix " , said the young dealer who proposes to revive the project of single status employees of games. A project to put the flat pay system, rejected by 100% staff Baccara and 82% by the European games ... What Michael Palmaro regrets: "It was a good basis for negotiations. " A position shared by the government, which is rare, has raised the tone against the social movement of Easter, through a statement: "The dialogue between the management of the SBM and the unions had reached the end of 2010 a draft statute unique casinos promoting both advances for employees and a reorganization of the games in order to face international competition becoming stronger. This project was unfortunately rejected by a majority of employees, including those of European games and baccarat. " Without forgetting to tackle in passing: "In these circumstances it is somewhat surprising that these same employees are now demanding to be increases, without having to accept measures that would have a better organization and a revival of Casinos de Monte-Carlo. "
Still, this appeal to the unique status may remain wishful thinking. As for European games, it is not at all sure that one wants to resume negotiations."In this project, robbing Peter to pay Paul and Peter in this case, we are! " says Stephan Lorenzi, for European games. Before warning: "We hope with all my heart do not get to go on strike for the weekend's Grand Prix, but if you stay in this situation, we have no choice ..."

Ok, this is an extreme example, but Moronaco is taking an Anna Nicole Smith and giving her plastic surgery and a complete wardrobe makeover then thinking that she's going to attract people on the caliber of Melinda Gates or the likes of a Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to visit and spend money at Monaco's pricey hotels, restaurants and clubs. Monaco is going to be swamped with free-loaders looking for a big payout like the high school drop-out Princess Charlene.

it's a real bummer they're not striking during the wedding hopefully there will be a cascade of business closings (like moods) so a bunch of the windows are boarded up and looking seedy, during the streetcorner circus

Anne Nicole Smith...we all know how she ended up! Right now, i'm in a bitch mode, and i don't desire bad to anyone, but i wouldn't be surprised if Albert dies in a few years after the marriage, and Charlene falls into drugs or alcohol...it's like very predictable.

no idea where to put this but apparently coaties party times didn't help to establish this one: www.monacomatin.mc/article/monaco/le-moods-a-ferme-en-catiminimoods opened in 2008 and closed during the easter holidays due to lack of profit (which SBM does not comment on...they say it evolved ROFL) I think some of the others that they have opened these past few years are not doing so great either. And those who are more successful due to moderate price policy, are encountering difficulties with the neighborhood due to the crowds they attract...not everyone likes to be noise polluted or suddenly find themselves in the middle of a fistfight, whilst strolling around the old port in the evening...

I think I even compared her to a Anna Nicole Smith before, and yes they think they can turn a calculating hustler into some kind of cultured elegant woman that people will admire and respect. On the other count too you are right--she is a beacon for all gold-diggers. We have seen that already in their posts as they cheer her on and also the evidence in how they have already attracted sugar daddy sites to Charlene's royal threads, which by the way I thought was hilarious .

I think this might be the appropriate thread though the affair unravelled under Rainier and they had the same cover up reflex as usual. I know some of the victims, if you want to call them that, though the ones I know are not the most honest and law abiding either, so my sympathy is limited. I found the matter rather amusing at the time...funny thing was that you need a Monegasques lawye to appear in court, and all of them were occupied with th victims at the time so they had pb finding one for the accused btw I know the lawyer mentioned in the article, who happens to be a friend of the antiquity dealer from the other thread www.monacomatin.mc/article/faits-divers/affaire-hobbs-melville-a-monaco-l%E2%80%99etat-a-t-il-commis-une-faute-lourde

The state of Moanco is being sued. Eringer had reported on his blog how Albert was friends with one of the convicted defendants in this case. Eringer writes, "One of the persons involved was Prince Albert's friend, Jean Christophe MORONI. MORONI was supposedly banned from Monaco (others went to prison). But when Albert went out Go-Karting on Monaco's port, who joined him? Jean Christophe MORONI."Case Hobbs-Melville in Monaco: the state have committed serious misconduct? Friday, May 13, 2011 Monaco Matin
Hobbs-Melville is one of the largest business fraud in the history of Monaco. In August 2000, William Fogwell and his daughter Shelley appeared before the court. They were charged with the theft of some 140 people for a total of 170 million euros. Between 1993 and 2000, from their offices in Monaco, father and daughter, with a dozen employees, through the Société Anonyme Monegasque (SAM) Hobbs-Melville, have abused the trust of investors.
The father handed down five years in prison and a 500,000 euro fine, and his daughter, four and a half years' imprisonment and a 300,000 euros fine.
Negligence of the state?
If today Hobbs-Melville returns to the front of the stage, is to judge, civil, any liability of the Government of the Principality.
"Today we are asking the state to be accountable to us," said Mr Yann Lajoux, victims' lawyer. Yesterday at the courthouse in Monaco, he has attempted to provide "evidence that the state has committed serious misconduct between 1993 and 2000. This is an issue that goes back almost twenty years. Since then, some victims were thrown in the towel, others have died, but others are there. "
It is a little less than thirty to point the finger "negligence and deficiency of the administrative state" in controlling the activities of the SAM. And as such, they require each 150,000 euros in compensation.
According to Mr. Lajoux, real activity of Hobbs-Melville (portfolio management) does not correspond to its purpose (administrative office) and was therefore illegal in Monaco. For their part, the defense lawyers have made their arguments. Mr. Jacques Sbarrato attempted to demonstrate the invalidity of the assignment. Me-Galdin Gastaud has, meanwhile, insisted that, unlike Italy, Switzerland or the United States where Fogwell also rampant, the Monegasque authorities have been alone in refusing to Hobbs-Melville the activity of portfolio management.
Deliberation on October 20.

I wish someone would write an expose about Albert's private life and all the dirty dealing going on in Monaco. Eringer writes his blog and that certainly has gotten under the skin of some people in Monaco, but I just wish a wikileaks type of thing would happen. Then he would be forced to step aside.

Well, AS Monaco football team is doing worse and is really in jeopardy of being taken out of the highest league and placed in a lower league. Since Albert's reign, I lost count of the different changes he has made with managers an coaches. His college friend Jerome de Bontin was doing a good job by making some of the difficult financial changes, but he ruffled too many feathers uncovering the corruption and they forced Albert to fire him. Albert really cannot make the hard decisions that requires ruffling feathers because Albert does not have a backbone. Perhaps that's why he is marrying Charlene, she has enough balls for the both of them.
Monaco, ready for spring cleaning! By Mael Moizant - Ligue 1 News 20/05/2011
Prince Albert will bring about changes at AS Monaco.
In the struggle for its maintenance in Ligue 1, Monaco tie is unfavorable for the moment. But that ASM remains or not in the elite, big changes are expected this summer. Officers are on trial or balance, with respect to financial losses programmed, they will lead to a redesign of the workforce. More or less in depth ... If keeping in extremis in Ligue 1, season ofMonaco will be poor. In the event of a raid, which at present takes shape with a 18th place at two busy days of the term, it will be catastrophic. In sum, in both cases, it will draw the consequences. From this point of view then, the Prince Albert II of Monaco began.
" You really put things flat and start on a new approach , "said RMC to the Prince, now in Lausanne at the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during the oral exam for the Olympics 2018. Ironically, the man least threatened to ASM is the coach, Laurent Banide. Barring a reversal, the coach under contract until June 2012, should remain.Maintaining or not.
Ruffier and Park on the starting However, the chairman, Etienne Franzi, has no guarantee about his future. As the general manager, Marc Keller, his fate seems sealed. He should be thanked, RMC understands. Effective side, bleeding is more or less important. But even if the lease within the elite is renewed, the DSO will meet its financial losses.
Rated between 12 and 15 million, the budget deficit will push leaders to sell the players at the highest market value. Under these conditions, difficult to keep the captain and goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier and South Korean striker Park Chu-Young.Elements out of contract (Gosso, Diarra, Hansson, Lolo, D. Traoré), some princely salaries should not be extended.
In Ligue 1, and further in Ligue 2, the DSO will have to rely on its young shoots. Some attend the group pro since more or less time (Mangani, N. Mendy L. Haruna), others, beginning with the winners of the Gambardella, it will impose.

Here's another article suggesting the changes that Albert has to make, such as getting rid of some of the higher paid players and replacing them with the youths.
Monaco: the palace revolt! May 20, 2011 at 14:00 By Clement Desdoigts
AS Monaco is very ill. Prince Albert II did not smile, and prepare a revolution in the inner workings of the club.
That the AS Monaco is maintained or not, changes must take place in the principality club. The Prince Albert II has told RMC he would have to " really put things flat, consider something else for ASM.
According to the same radio, foreign investors should enter the capital of the ASM . Within the organizational structure of the club, Marc Keller (CEO) would be on the spot, and could be thrown a second time the Rock in the sea
Finally, high-value players ( Ruffier N'Koulou, Mongongu and Park ) would, as part of the big ten players out of contract, his departure. To make way for the triumphant youth Asem, winner of the Cup Gambardella.

Officially, the state (=Albert) is not allowed to meddle too much with the soccer team so you can't blame Albert for this. Theoretically. What happens unofficially, that's another ball game. I always thought that making De Bontin head of ASM was Albert's ultimate means of gaining full control over the club. But I suppose he can exercise a lot of influence in any case.
Anyway, AS Monaco won (1-0) but AS Nancy also won so Monaco is still 18 on the list (and poised for relegation). One game to go but as they are all very close, ASM could end up 10th or 11th or so. Theoretically that is, the other guys will also have to play their last game and will gain points so the final result is still open.

After the Easter weekend strike, the palace asked the casino workers not to strike during the wedding out of respect to the Princely family. albert didn't care about the grand Prix - only hios trashy wedding to his dumpster bride. Well, the casino workers just announced this afternoon that they are going on strike for four days this week. I'm sure Marie Antoinette Charlene (and all the Wittstocks who are in town) only care about that she can still attend the events to show off her new expensive Akris wardrobe that she had specially made for the Grand Prix week - to hell with everyone else. See the video and read article in French in the Monaco Matin. Grand Prix: the strike in casinos Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 3:22 p.m Casino employees have filed a notice of strike for four days during the weekend's Grand Prix.

well, apparently no one goes to the casino during GP anyways...so they don't really care. It just annoys them that tourists see them. All about image not about substance. Does it matter if they strike during the wedding? Possibly, because the majority of their guests might prefer gambling to watching these two.

what is so incredibly stupid is that on the one hand they tell the employees that the economy is giving them difficulties and that the competition is so tough, and on the other they publish how they spunk it up at the wedding and how everything will be better after the wedding; how stupid do they think people are?
