The jacket Charlene wore at the Prince Garden in Menton on 15 May 2011 is also by Akris. You can buy it retail at Saks Fifth Avene or at Neiman Marcus for $2560. To me, this is another overpriced drab looking cotton jacket that you can find at JCPennys or a similar department store for 20 times less. Akris's choices of fabrics are very drab colors and dull and cheap-looking texture - well to me (look at the close ups).

Thanks for the research on the outfit. I wonder if it isn't a knock-off? Usually designers get copied, and to put it in the affordable range for the average person, they use much cheaper material, plus the detailing will be missing. Talbots has a jacket very similar to this one in cut. I don't remember the price but it was under $200. The t-shirt is pulling across the top which means it's too tight on the shoulders which is why she's probably wearing the jacket. I wonder if she didn't know until the last minute that she was supposed to attend. It would be just like Albert to say to a staff member, "Oh hey, tell Charlene I want her there for the photographers, and tell her she has about a half hour to get ready". JMO

Hibou, these things are planned well in advance and I'm sure Charlene was part of the original invite. Charlene spends probably all her time selecting and putting together her wardrobes for these events. Look at her hair - professionally done. This is who Charlene is - if it is expensive and designer hen it must look good. I have some high quality photos of the event that I'll post and you'll see just how tight the dress is across her chest and the dress also looks just like cheap t-shirt material. As for Akris, many of their clothing is made of cheap-looking material. Why would Charlene need to wear an Akris knock-off when there's an Akris store in Monaco which dlivers her clothing to the palace or her?

Arkis sounds like a rip-off if they are using cheap materials which is what it looks like. If they are so anxious to have her in their clothes, you would think that someone would make sure it fits properly which is why I thought it looked last minute.

according to bunte, a wedding dress is being made by both Akris and by Armani, so maybe she's only wearing it to justify her wedding dress. Or at least one of them.

Charlene's body is so peculiar that she is going to need to have ALMOST everything custom made for her if she wants anything to look decent. Everything she wears that is "off the rack"- even if it's a high priced designer outfit - pulls across the shoulders ad bust. If it fits properly there, it will be way too big in the waist and hip and length area. But, let's talk about that TOP LIP! None of these people - including and especially CW & PA - seem to have any sense of asthetics or proportion. Unbelievable.

JMO we know that she would not wear anything cheap anymore and the way her hair and make up is done, she didn't do it herself...well like everything else. Bet after the wedding, if they ever had sex, she will not be doing that anymore either. That's why she never bothered with PAs other women.... Anyways I didn't care for the outfit and it didn't fit the occasion. But then again you need a minimum of education to judge which occasion requires which dress.

Rather than running into shops and grabbing all of the most expensive items and running out, Charlene needs to get some designer that is willing to work with her to custom fit her clothes. Her shape is just not normal in any way. It would be better to have fewer outfits, but have them fit properly, than the way she is going about it. If your clothes don't fit, you will not be a Princess of Fashion. No way!

^^ I thought Armani did that?
Imo if you have no taste even if you work with the best designer it's not going to make you stylish. After all the client has the last word.

Thanks for the article Scout. As Charlene sees it, Monaco is full of people with designer labels so she's dressing like the people who live there- in her mind. Of course, she's not dressing like the people who were born there and work hard to provide for their families. She's out of touch as much as Albert. Kate and William get it, and Kate is helping a younger generation identify with her. This is good for the monarchy. Smart girl !

Well $350 is not really a paupers princess. To most people that would be the wardrobe for a year. But what it shows is that Kate wears what she likes, what suits her and what makes her comfortable. her outfits don't wear her. She is appropriately dressed, but I doubt that anyone will really think much about her dress, but more about the person inside. The trash doesn't have that luxury. there is nothing much inside and the outside isn't any better, hence the persistent need for surgery. Kate is not a stunning beauty. Quite the contrary. she is a pretty much average looking woman with a normal body. Not overtly sexy, but attractive enough. SHe is middle class in every way. SHe is educated, but just as much a she needs to be to not appear out of place. For the Royals she is the perfect link as she can relate to all levels of society without seeming out of place. That lends her credibility in her role. Sth that trashy is wanting. I'm just waiting for trashy to walk around wearing glasses to appear intelligent...

Thanks Scout for the article - and of course that dress sold out within hours of Kate's photo being released wearing out. One of Trashy's drab looking jacket (not including the ($3000 purses, $3000 dresses, $1000 shoes, and $500 belts) cost TEN TIMES the mount of Kate's dress. But, keep bragging Trashy how Kate's outfits are three seasons past whereas yours are current. Keep bragging until one day it may click in that pea-brain head of yours that money cannot buy everything and will not buy you class.

To give you an idea of what Charlene's outfit must have cost ((including her multi-thousand dollar purse), the below Akris Silk Godet Skirt, which is similar in design, cost $8950 (you can buy it at Neiman Marcus). Now, chalrene's outfit has the skirt with more ruffles, plus the top, and the silk chiffon shawl. I could easily see her outfit costing $25,000 - $30,000. No wonder she made sure she was photographed as she stepped out of the car. Trashy Cashlene was not going to pay this amount for an outfit and not show it off. For the Queen's pre-wedding dinner party on April 28, 2011, Akris's Albert Kriemler made Charlene a dove-gray evening dress in silk dupioni with laser-cut silk organza applique and a silk chiffon stole. The handbag is also by Akris (the same one she wore at the Exotic Garden Cactus exhibit). Although Albert and Charlene arrived late, notice how desperate Charlene is that she gets photographed in her specially made Akris gown. Her poses stepping out of he car is so damn obvious! Who steps out of a car - standing like this?

^ I cringe every time I see Charlene's body shape. I think Hibou labeled it 'T-bar' which fits. Charlene can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on clothes, but with her body, it is never going to look good. It is unfortunate that they couldn't be on time to the Queen's dinner, but if they had been, then everyone else entering would have had to wait 10 minutes while Charlene posed for photographs, even the Queen. You can tell that she really thought she looked good with the attitude that she is projecting in these photos.
When is she going to get a butt enhancement? That probably should have been first on her list after the boob job.

That nude color dress that Kate wore looks really nice on her, I like the style and I think this dress was appropriate for occasion. I would even think it was some designer dress if I didn't know its price. Trashy, to contrary, wears those expensive dresses that look so cheap because of person who is wearing them.

The most interesting thing about this People magazine article is that the photos are courtesy of Akris. twofold publicity going on - the palace trying to promote Monaco by dressing up their expensive coat hanger and Akris trying to promote their brand through Charlene. Charlene is drab and boring and anyone trying to uplift themselves through Charlene are bound to be a big flop! I wonder how much Albert paid for these outfits, I know one of her purses costs over $4000. Her Facebook must have linked to the article, because the comments seem like the family/friends/flunkies that normally praise her on her Facebook.
Courtesy Akris Charlene Wittstock’s Grand Prix Weekend Wear May 31, 2011 by Kim Peiffer
The focus of Monaco’s weekend Grand Prix may have been the big race, but Prince Albert II’s fiancé, Charlene Wittstock, was in a fashionable Grand Prix of her own. The South African former swimmer wore not one, but five custom ensembles created by Swiss designer Albert Kriemler of Akris for various happenings surrounding the prestigious event. First up, a black stone appliqué corseted bustier with silk chiffon pants, which she accessorized with the Akris “Alice bag,” worn to the Amber Lounge Fashion Monaco event on May 27. For the Grand Prix qualifying race May 28, she wore a sand-hued double-face cotton gabardine bustier with matching skirt; that evening she went elegant in her namesake “Miss Charlene” one-shouldered silk jersey dress. Wittstock continued to show off her designer of choice by sporting two looks the following day: she chose a printed voile day dress in the morning and for the evening gala, she paired an olive paillette gown with a mini “Ai” bag in horsehair. This isn’t the first time Wittstock has chosen Akris for a momentous occasion — she recently wore a custom Akris frock to the royal wedding. However, she’ll be walking down the aisle in a Giorgio Armani gown during her upcoming nuptials on July 2. Tell us: What do you think of Wittstock’s wardrobe changes?
