very interesting development!! very interesting indeed, i'd like to think they've got a clue and the non dynamic duo is on their way OUT!! Many photos of Albert and Charlene were part of their profiles and their main icon profile. Now they have removed ALL photos of them from their profile. This is more than a coincidence and obviously strategically done.

yes considering that this is the official tourist office page and that they toured the world to promote this wedding and MC, seems like some smart person has discovered that it is not attracting tourists but seems to actually scare them away. btw the weather is unusually cold for the season. almost like fall. considering the heat wave we had earlier this months...

All I can say to these people quoted who were in St Devote for the last act of the performance: GET A LIFE! Clearly these people smoked the crack and drank the kool-aid as a chaser! What has this man and woman done to be labeled icons? Take off the blinders and keep the women and children safe. They can get a little life on Facebook not in Monaco.

Gossip is endemic in Monaco's tiny native community, but many are reluctant to share their concerns with outsiders, and most of those who spoke to AFP only did so on condition of anonymity. If a reporter has to makes a statement like the one above, shouldn't that be a clue that you really are not going to get an honest assessment of what people really feel about this wedding and more importantly the people's sentiment is definitely not a happy one if they are afraid to speak about their concerns. What's funny and rather pathetic is how down to the end, Michel Bouquier , Monaco's Director of Tourism still was selling the ridiculous claim that Albert and Charlene's fairy tale wedding will boost Monaco's image and economy. This article was post on IOL website, but it was written by French and South Africa's Associated Press agencies. The title quote is from Michel Bouquier. How's the image working out Michel? It looks rather trashy to me.
Charlene ‘complete’s Monaco’s image’
by Sapa-AFP July 1 2011
Monaco's Prince Albert II invited the entire population of his tiny realm to toast his marriage and their new princess on Friday as the Mediterranean tax haven looked forward to a glamorous new era.
The princely enclave declared two days of national holiday as Albert prepared to marry South African swimming champion Charlene Wittstock, hoping his romance would help him win back the hearts of his people too.
The 53-year-old playboy's lengthy bachelorhood had begun to try the patience of the 7,810 Monegasque subjects living crammed in a tight hillside warren of concrete tower blocks alongside tens of thousands more foreign tax exiles.
Now he has presented them with a princess that looks the part - a statuesque blonde - and locals hope the couple will now renew the royal house and ensure an orderly succession by producing a legitimate heir.
Monaco's privileged status as an independent principality that sets its own low tax rates and regulates its own financial services depends on it having a prince, and Albert's Grimaldi clan has ruled since the 13th century.
Now the local elite hopes the wedding, and the accompanying feast days, will give the Grimaldi image a boost, just as the year's previous royal wedding in London gave the British monarchy a much-needed shot in the arm.
“This marriage will complete the image of the principality, allow the wider public to see beyond the cliches,” Monaco tourism chief Michel Bouquier told reporters. “We are going to astonish, and astonish by giving pleasure.
“Yes, Monaco is glamour, luxury, the exceptional - it's in our DNA -but this will help round out our image,” he promised.
Certainly, no expense has been spared.
At 6:30 pm (1630 GMT), shortly after the 40 minute civil ceremony, the bells of the chapel dedicated to Monaco's patron saint Sainte Devote will ring out.
The couple has sent individual invitations to every adult citizen of the country - some 7,810 people - to come to a reception at the palace.
Then, later in the evening the crowd will head to a bigger area by the port for a braai, a traditional South African barbecue, and drinks with thousands of the wealthy foreign residents who live in the principality.
“Champagne is our national drink here,” Bouquier joked.
A pink beer brewed with cranberries has been produced by Monaco's own small brewery, and entertainment will be provided by sexagenarian electropop pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre and a massive waterfront sound and light show.
Bouquier said the wedding budget had been doubled to eight million euros, but the principality hopes to generate much more in tourist revenue and has laid on extra trains from France - as many as for its annual Grand Prix.
On the eve of the ceremony, the royal couple joined a 15,000-strong crowd of their subjects and Monaco residents to cheer California rockers The Eagles at the stadium of the principality's recently relegated football team.
They may have made the appearance to lay to rest persistent rumours that the 33-year-old blonde athlete has cold feet about going through with the marriage, but they appeared to share the joy of the crowd.
A smiling Charlene, who already appeared relaxed and content earlier on Thursday when she arrived for a wedding rehearsal, even tried out some dance steps with His Most Serene Highness as the fans cheered.
Charlene showed off her broad swimmer's shoulders in a black bustier, despite reports that she is trying to modify her exercise routine to achieve a more classically elegant shape, and Albert wore a dark jacket.
Charlene was to become “Princess of Monaco” shortly after 5:00 pm (1500 GMT) Friday, when Philippe Narmino, Monaco's top legal official and president of the state council, pronounces the couple man and wife.
“I'll let the music run its course,” said an 86-year-old local who still remembers the 1956 nuptials of Albert's father Rainier and Hollywood siren Grace Kelly. “It's a happy day. Monaco has seen enough grief.”
But, reflecting the view of many who talked to AFP, he also moved quickly on to the next big question: “The important thing is that there be an heir.”
Gossip is endemic in Monaco's tiny native community, but many are reluctant to share their concerns with outsiders, and most of those who spoke to AFP only did so on condition of anonymity.
“A marriage brings us security for the succession,” said an 80-year-old retired casino manager. “Charlene's very pretty, I just hope she adapts.
“We're lucky to be Monegasque. We live the good life, protected jobs, no military service. It's important to have a prince. With no prince there's no principality.”
Albert has illegitimate children with two women but has yet to produce a royal heir. In 2002, fearing Albert would die without a legitimate prince, Monaco changed its constitution to allow a princess to inherit.
Albert's mother, Princess Grace, died in a car crash in 1982. Her daughter Caroline lost second husband Stefano Casiraghi in a 1990 motorboat accident.
The other royal sister, Princess Stephanie, has also been unlucky in love, in the words of Wednesday's edition of Le Parisien “marrying almost as often as she falls in love” and finding herself betrayed by her bodyguard lover.

Another South Africa paper published the same above article - however with this title: Monaco’s SA saviour. As we stated, Charlene was billed as Monaco's saviour and image booster (or as Michel Bouquier stated - image completer). I would hate to see what Monaco's satan looks like if this is what their saviour has done.

Do you think that Monaco's Tourism Office (who runs the Visit Monaco Facebook page) finally decided that Albert and Charlene are NOT the best attraction to lure people to Monaco? I thought that the Visit Monaco Facebook account would flood their pages with photos of their flagship couple attending the wedding exhibit and the Herculis meet - but there is absolutely NO PAGES of the trashy duo on the pages at these to events! But, there is information on the pages about these events. Up until the SA wedding bash, Visit Monaco was still treating their tourists page as an extension of Charlene's Facebook account - flooding the pages with photos and silly articles about Charlene. But, no more. I hope that this is a permanent decision. To Monaco's Tourism office: I hope that you highlight the beautiful, entertaining and cultural attractions that Monaco has to offer and not your "laughing stock of the world" trashy couple. People will not make a decision to visit and spend money Monaco because of your Sucker Prince and your plastic surgery addicted high school drop out trashy looking princess. Hopefully, people will visit Monaco in spite of them. Get a brain (and get your noses up from Albert's fat ass and Charlene's flat one) and put your country first. I swear, Monaco officials are going to rue the day that they decided to make Charlene Wittstock and this wedding the face of Monaco. Here's the front page of the Official Facebook page of the Monaco Government Tourist Office. It's a shrine to mostly Charlene and this wedding. This is such a stupid move. Think about this, if you wanted to visit Monaco, do you want to go to their Facebook page and read all this ridiculous articles about Charlene. This is such a childish and unprofessional Tourism Facebook page. This is always what I was trying to stress--if Albert had concentrated on this in the first place, think how much money he would have saved, not to mention his reputation. maybe he could have produced a tourism commercial, or get a Magazine to write a couple nice articles about the Grand Prix or on the Oceanic Institute...isn't that what they call it? Or just on the history of Monaco? Of course, so much more that Albert could have done that could have actually paid off for him instead of making himself look like an idiot and and a juvenile man who needs to show off that they have a little girlfriend . I never understood why they thought Charlene or any woman would launch a thousand ships--it depends on who these women are and ultimately what they do to help promote tourism, like Caroline's Ballet company. Charlene has nothing to draw on, no real interest in anything outside of herself, or any idea how to implement anything if she did--no one will ever believe she contributed anything more than the title Albert gave her to anything? Albert could have made it so much easier on himself, if he wasn't so insecure and he may have actually found a decent wife who cared about him and would have helped him if he had not made himself look like a big fool. U'm afraid this woman alone and his promotion of her has done him and there is nothing that is going to change for him now as long as she is there, and he has made his bed now, so he better hope some people will show up in spite of it.AdminNote: Removed display of photo (just removed [ img][/img]) from quoted text since photo is displayed right above

there won't be a lot of people signing it. once the names of residents ans Monegasques are known, they will be in trouble. Please remember that people living in France and only working in MC never dare to have their names mentioned in the paper when they say anything negative about MC. people do not risk their livelihood unless they have no other choice, are crazy or there really is a realistic chance of succeeding. Desperation started Tunisia and Egypt, it keeps Libyans and Syrians going. MC is not desperate enough yet. Just discontented. That is nothing that can't be fixed. The only thing that could tip things is France. If France lets Albert fend for himself, or they see a problem for the thousands of workers in MC to lose their job, then they might get active. Otherwise, they are busy keeping their own together. Funny thought on the side, the day I leave France for good, they are talking about downgrading them from their triple A status...and MC is in pieces....

The people in Monaco are too afraid to do anything about Albert's and his tranny bride. Their lifestyle hasn't gotten bad enough yet - give it time. They should first talk with their feet and stop going and supporting Albert and Charlene's sponsored events. But, so far there are still enough of them climbing over each other to kiss Albert's fat ass and Charlene's flat one.
