Charlenification of Monaco
;D Karma
I don´t know if you can count this as barometer, but usually a new Princess has many fans and blogs dedicated to her. And I don´t find that many on Charlene, while Kate has dozens.

Talking about her "it" factor, LOL

Whatever "fame" or media attention Charlene was getting just went bye-bye with the engagement of Hereditary Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg to Countess Stephanie of Lannoy. They're both young, she's blonde and beautiful and grandaughter of a real Princess, he's handsome and elegant and they look adoringly at each other, the way fairy tale princes and princesses are supposed to when they get engaged. www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/201204267880/duke-luxembourg-wedding-engagement/I don't see the European media having any more interest in Al and Charlene unless until there's a scandal of some sort.

Charlene's "popularity" in South Africa
I have seen very little in the South African media about Charlene over the past year - maybe a few snippets here and there. We saw the wedding on TV and then ... nothing! She is supposed to be a "South African" princess and celebrity, but it does not happen here for her as well. Nobody in South Africa is taking any notice of her.

Nobody in South Africa is taking any notice of her. Just to add to your post...A month ago I was at the party here in Los Angeles were I met a very lovely. She had an interesting accent and I asked her where was she from. She told me she was from South Africa and that she came to US 15 years ago...we ended up talking for a while since we were both immigrants to US with heavy accents, which we couldn't get rid off and we laugh about it, so we shared stories about our home countries and I used the opportunity to jokingly asked her about "their new South African Princess". She looked at me with a surprise and said "We have a new Princess?", after which I explained to her what I really meant by telling her the story of WC marring Albert. She listened to me with an expression on her face like she is trying hard to remember the story and at the end said "oh that...I think I have heard something...oh, I get now what you were saying."...and we both laughed...Just to let you know that she was a very classy lady, well informed about current event and politics of SA, but I think she knew nothing about dumb bimbo and her Prince Assbert...she was just being polite.
