He does not count the concert on Thursday, the reception on Friday, the concert on Friday, the fireworks on Saturday, the advertising tour around the globe, the journalist reception, the free buses, free parking etc etc....guess when the author started his article, he did not think that his math might not be good enough...if you talk to people around here they are well aware that it costs no less then 40 Million. And that is the minimum number....

Monaco government spinning on the cost and the economic impact of this wedding has begun. First, they predicted and told everyone that 200,000 tourists will visit Monaco and guess what – the government is now reporting that indeed 200,000 tourists did visited Monaco! As for that initial budget of 4 million euro, Monegasque State is now reporting that they contributed 9.850 million euro ( $14,260,830 ) to the wedding. They still haven’t disclosed the entire cost of the wedding. Also, I think they are being disingenuous because previously they stated they gave the palace a grant (which they refused to disclose the amount) in addition to the amount from the state. Monaco wants the press to stop calling this a $70 million dollars wedding, thus they are throwing out $14 million - a much lower number for them to quote. How can they do a credible economical impact analysis of this wedding if they are not willing to disclosed the true cost, Why even waste the money and time on a study, when we already know that they will call it a success – as they have today1 What’s really finny, is that there have been several articles in the Monaco Matin about how the store sales started two days earlier than in France – and he shops are basically empty even some are discounting items up to 70% off. I’ll post those articles in the Monaco’s Current Events board. From the Monaco Matin:
Royal wedding: 9.8 million and 200,000 visitors
By Axelle Truquet Tuesday, July 5, 2011
The concert of the Eagles, that of Jean-Michel Jarre, the fireworks and especially the princely procession ... The Monegasque State has participated to the tune of 9.850 million at the wedding of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene.
Monegasques have been invited to take part in civil and religious ceremonies, residents have also been offered a drink on the port.
In addition to these attentions towards the population, it was safe. According to preliminary figures issued Tuesday by the government, no less than 200,000 visitors who made the trip in the Principality.
The economic impact will not be known until the fall, but the professionals show already enthusiastic.

Hilarious! Both of you posted around the same time about most of these 200,000 tourists being imaginary. This is what Monaco has turned into - a laughing stock. Look at all the lies they had to tell since Albert's engagement and imagine all the lies that they will tell after this horrible marriage and the reign of the Sucker Prince and Princess Conlene.

Michel Roger, the Minister of State is claiming the wedding cost €20 million ( $28,592,000) - but he refused to talk about he partnerships with the luxury brand (Mont Blanc, Perrier, BMW, Lexus, etc). Honestly, I think the cost is way more than this. They know that the British wedding cost $30 million and hey wanted to at least report an amount lower than the British wedding. AFP article posted on Le Point:
The marriage of Prince Albert of Monaco has cost nearly 20 million [$28,592,000]
by AFP 6 July 2011
The marriage of Prince Albert II of Monaco has cost nearly €20 million, said Wednesday Michel Roger, Minister of State of the Principality (head of government).
"The total budget of marriage is shared between the state (50%) and Palace (50%). The appropriations entered in the state budget amounted to 9,850,000 euros," he said at the AFP. The Institute of the Monaco statistics and economic studies is also being set up "tools to calculate the economic benefits" of marriage, which should be encrypted in September.
The celebrations, under close surveillance by the Monegasque authorities, took place over three days peppered with concerts, fireworks and receptions for residents of Monaco.
Some 800 international personalities were invited to the church wedding Saturday and 500 invited to a gourmet dinner served on a huge terrace built especially for the occasion.
The royal palace was never intended to give details on how partnerships with luxury brands.

Jerome Revon, the production manager for this -made-for-tv wedding (which he constantly refers to it as a "show") gave an interview to Monaco Hebdo right before the wedding and he estimated his budget (the final actual cost will probably be more) for the production alone as €950 000 ( $1,358,120). Jerome mentions that his first meeting with he palace was August 2010 - just two months after the engagement announcement. From the very beginning, the most important aspect of this farce of a marriage has always been the "show," the "image," the "tv production" Revon mentions that the Saint Devote church scene is going to be a "beautiful movie" - which is why I believe Princess Conlene made sure she played the part perfectly for her acting job - especially the tears!
Jerome Revon: "The guest is Monaco"By Adrian Paredes Friday, July 1, 2011
The director of the great ceremonies will image to the world, the royal wedding with his teams.
40 cameras, 500. This weekend, the company R & G Productions is always on the go. Jerome Revon, director of marriage, will be responsible for capture, with its teams, the marriage of Albert and Charlene Wittstock to the world's media. The prince gave him carte blanche. "Stress, I would have to J-1 and J +1. Physically, I can lose at least two kilos, "smiles Jerome Revon. The international signal, provided free to television stations will broadcast in high definition, and even world premiere in 3D on the specific channel of the Orange Box, Spain and Poland. "I would take the frames of the French with the comments of Bern and Narcy. They will be valuable to the plans, "says the director. The device "rich" set up in preparation for Christmas and the first discussions with the Palace back in August 2010. "We left a blank page because there is no model," said Jerome Revon. "The extra guest is Monaco. We will make sure that everyone communicates together for the event. I hand on the giant screens in order to show, for example, close-ups of the Prince and Princess, "he says.
Civil marriage, broadcast on Monaco Info, require 15 cameras, while 40 will used for religious union and placed in different locations. As for the fireworks, the eight cameras will capture. From 15h on Saturday, they will be trained on the outputs of the Hermitage and Hotel de Paris to film the movement of guests. "I will be in direct contact with Lt. Col. Bruno Philipponnat. I know in real time coming out and when and I will be notified of any changes, "explains Jerome Revon. "It's a mixture of many techniques. The Court of Honor is a unique setting, just sublime. Mass is an event intimate, cozy. Sainte-Devote's going to be a beautiful movie. There will be two motorcycles to film the procession as the Tour de France. As for the dinner and ball, it will be another year because we will no longer live. We will turn the pictures to news. "Meanwhile repetition scheduled this Thursday at 5:00 p.m., Jerome Revon is convinced: "Marriage is beautiful."?
Journalists pampered for marriage The royal wedding will certainly be the media. And that nothing escapes the spectators, the Media Center, located at the Township Hall is equipped for that 1200 accredited journalists process information in the best conditions. "We bump for 6 months," informs Geneviève Berti, Deputy Director of the Media Centre. The room is well equipped with two giant screens, where the royal wedding will be broadcast live and translated into English, Spanish and German. Screens overlooking the rows of tables with a "socket, internet, but also made special for photographers. "To the left of the boxes" private and equipped with a TV are provided for radio hosts. "Open from 7am to midnight Wednesday, it will also be Friday from 5 am to midnight and 5 am Saturday to Sunday 18h. Budget of the operation covered by the Government of Monaco: 950 000 euros.?

I just read that Petra Eccelstone's wedding cost about $5 million dollars (Euros) . Much, much less than the two idiots supposedly cost. Her dress cost $135,000, she wore a diamond tiara, had new diamond earrings, they rented the castle in Italy Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were married in, they had incredible food, wine and the most expensive champagne, magnificent flowers, amazing fireworks, Eric Clapton, The Black Eyed Peas and Andre Bocelli performed - (The Peas are very current so costly - more than The Eagles!) In other words, their wedding was comparable to PA's. Granted there wasn't the need for quite as much security - although they had it - but still where did PA & CW spend the difference of $65 million? I also read that the gov't of Monaco paid $15 million of the total. I'm thinking that the total was more like between $15 & 20 million and they padded the rest to look and sound like they spent more and the poor people of Monaco footed the entire bill or most of it. The cost discrepancy between the two seems very high to me. Just seemed odd. Granted I only saw some photos, but from what I saw and read it didn't seem like anything close to $70 million was spent. Just wondering.

the Jarre concert was very expensive. You can check the costs for the egypt concert online. That was 10 years ago and Jarre said himself that they didn't set any limits to his spending. Also you have to add the free buses, parking, special trains to the costs. Also the stadium costs need to be added. Wedding planers want to be paid. The opera had to be changed for the purpose. There was a huge construction outside salle garnier and then of course they had to pay all those free loaders...

Just wondering. CM, just days after the farcical laughing stock wedding Monaco's government released THEIR share of the cost of the wedding at $15,000,000 (see this post). This amount was PURE PROPAGANDA to counteract the media reporting that this wedding was costing $70,000,000. The government said that they were paying half the cost, so their attempt was to have people thinking that the total cost of this laughing stock made-for-tv wedding only cost $30,000,000. when asked questions to verify this, Monaco's Minister of State side tracked the questions. So, if after a few days, Monaco wanted people to believe that the wedding only cost $30,000 - then you can believe for sure that the actual cost is WAY more than this. I REALLY believe the estimates of $70,000,000. They side-stepped the cost of the freebies - partnerships. Like everything else with Albert and Charlene, they thought the more money they spent - the better the results. They still haven't realized that all the money in the world will not buy them the class that they want. Their money has bought them people - a whole lot of flunkies who keep them deluded enough to keep spending their money.

I still think the amount is overblown and that THEY pocketed a lot of the cash. But then I'm very cynical about these two.

Crisis also hits small states: Andorra and Monaco want to economizeThe economic and financial crisis also hits "tax havens" such as Andorra and Monaco. The Principality on the Côte d'Azur, which expects both direct and indirect revenues of €29 million from the royal wedding of Albert II and his wife Charlene which took place in early July, vowed strict budget disciplines on Tuesday. The cost of the wedding was according to Prime Minister Michel Roger €19.6 million - of which only €9.2 million came from the state. The rest was paid by the palace, Michel said at a news conference.I posted the translation of the other part of the editorial which deals with Monaco in the MC "Hit Hard By Crisis" & "Deficit Worse"! thread, the rest is about Andorra.

the 19.6 is a flat out lie. Or lets call it a Clinton. Maybe the church thing and the reception after the civil wedding plus the dinner cost that much. And I should think that would sum up the transformation of the opera, the security etc for these days. What does not figure is the Jarre concert and the Thursday concert. Add to that the TWO tiaras, ALL flights and accommodation for the guests (and we are talking Monaco prizes) plus outfits for some, extra cash for trashy after the runaway stunt, the extra trains and buses that no one used. The closed off parking lots that did not generate money, the extra money employers had to pay because they were forced to open although the idiot had declared his wedding a two day public holiday....
