another item to add to the list of costs: the journalists will be invited at the Meridien Beach plaza on June 30th. I guess that's when they are handing out the scripts of what they want them to say... I suppose that doesnt come for less then 100000

Based on the information on the palace wedding website, Albert and Charlene are paying fior the concerts. According to the description of the setting up and taking down of the stage for the concerts, the overall cost is probably expensive. Thus far, this is the only thing that they state they are paying for. I wonder if they are paying for the free parking and the other public works cost.
Two major concerts, courtesy of the Royal Couple, will be given on Thursday 30th June and Friday 1st July 2011 in celebration of their marriage. The concerts in figures Eagles - Louis II Stadium - cabling: 3 km of cables - workforce: 180 technicians - lorries: 10 articulated lorries, 250 tonnes of technical equipment - Size of the stage: stage area of 30 m x 14 m - 15 days of installation: from 16th to 30th June. - 5 days of dismantling. Jean Michel Jarre - Port Hercule - cabling: 10 Km - workforce: 250 technicians - lorries: 20 articulated lorries, 400 tonnes of technical equipment - Size of the stage: Infrastructure of 120 m - 16 days of installation: from 16th June to 1st July, 8 days of dismantling

the Jarre equipment is incredibly expensive; even to rent. I sincerely doubt that they are really footing the bill. And of course the parking and security will be on the states list anyways. As will be the costs for the stadium and its staff. IMO just these 2 events won't come under 10 Million. The cost for the Egypt concert was given as $9500000 and that was in 99, this one is not quite the size, but it's 12 years later so my guess it is at least as expensive as the Egypt one, but since this is Monaco they will charge a few extra millions

I agree with Paca. Though it says that the concerts are courtesy of Albert and Charlene, I don't think that they are paying for them. If this wedding turns out to be half the flop that it appears to be, Albert may be unable to return to Monaco after his working honeymoon in SA. He may be greeted by citizens with pitchforks.

Featuring Albert and Charlene with supporting cast. A thrilling tale of a once prospering country and its inevitable downward spiral. Mismanagement! Delusion! Insanity! Plastic surgery! We regret to inform you that a collection will be held during this movie. The proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the princely couple's luxurious lifestyle. Monaco will be joining the ranks of Greece, Ireland, Spain and Portugal this year. Another bottomless pit to pour money into. Which no country in Europe will do. If these amounts are true, this will be disastrous for Monaco's budget. A dent of several millions/several per cents of the total is something that I suspect they'll notice on their budget. Some figures: Income last year: 767,658,200 euros (1,079,311,449.74 USD) Expenses last year: 863,385,200 euros (1,214,138,728.55 USD) Prediction for this year: Income: 843,263,400 euros (1,185,803,515.21 USD) Expenses: 941,162,600 euros (1,323,510,305.08 USD) I agree with Paca. Courtesy of Albert. And I doubt even that. The state will probably have to pay, just as they paid most of the starting capital of the Prince Albert II foundation. Charlene's contribution exists of wearing expensive clothes, showing up and waving.

Well, Monaco is not EU so they are on heir own. The EU would probably suggest to use the money of the tax evaders and consider not asking it back as their contribution...Oh and they might also suggest that some people who have been lining their pockets with the hand in the till would actually get off their lazy butts and work at least 5 minutes in their life...

here is a link about the Indian wedding in April luxpresso.com/news-lifestyle/indian-businessmans-big-fat-monaco-wedding/3930 apparently it cost about 10 mill. the same wedding planers seem to be doing part of saturday planning. So I guess we are getting closer with our numbers... Personally I think if they would have gone withthe traditional wedding the original estimate of 4 Million would have been sufficient in order to have a nice and decent public wedding. Now they are lucky if they get away with 40 Million...

Ok, you have to add the living cost of another South African coming to Monaco 7 weeks before the wedding and then staying until the wedding. Jason Hartman who is performing for the Eagles wedding concert, is leaving this week for Monaco (with his dad & brother who play in his band) and staying until the wedding. Smooching off of Albert - is this a South African thing? Full article is in Beeld in Afrikaans.
Idol "jumping for joy" about wedding to occur in Monaco 2011-05-22 by Pauli van Wyk
Jason Hartman, 2009's Idol winner, was invited to the wedding of Prince Albert of Monaco and the South African swimmer Charlene Wittstock to act.
"I'm jumping for joy," Hartman said yesterday.
He is a good friend of Wittstock and also received an invitation to the royal wedding.
"It is a very big honour. I have my suit, designed by Diaan Daniels, and was very excited. We are flying this week and will stay in Monaco for the next seven weeks." ...

LOL seems like the trash has given word in SA that anyone can have a piece of her MC cake. Monegasques will be thrilled to feed another hungry white South African mouth. How come that apart from Mandela no black people from SA find their way to feed of the gravy train...oh I forgot, the name was Whitestock...

Ok, seems that Albert is more of an idiot then anyone would have thought. Jarre can spend as much as he likes!!! Sure Monaco will pay, so what do Albert and Jarre care? So I suppose we can safely double the costs of the Egypt concert, security etc not included....http://www.monacomatin.mc/article/people/jean-michel-jarre-le-prince-albert-ma-donne-carte-blanche

The Riviera Times has an article about the wedding plan and below is the first and the last paragraph of the article. These people are delusional with even thinking that this wedding is going to be a boost to the economy. It's rather pathetic, not to mention unprofessional as journalists, to even think that when no one in the media is willing to ask the government nor Albert how much are they spending for this wedding. They sure like to pose for photos that's for sure - and they do not look like a happy couple no matter how much the Monaco media writes it.
The happy couple want to share the joy of their wedding weekend with all the people of the Principality and beyond. Photo: Eric Mathon - Palais Princier The people's Prince makes his wedding for one and all 25 May 2011
“The Prince wishes the celebration of his marriage to be beautiful, joyous, warm – and shared by the public,” explained Interior Counsellor Paul Masseron at a May 19th government meet-the-press. That translates into public entertainment, celebrations and ‘live’ screening of the religious and civil ceremonies that will join HSH Prince Albert II and Miss Charlene Wittstock in marriage, July 1st and 2nd.
...
Only retailers with less than 30 employees (with the exception of FNAC) will be open during the day. The government has budgeted a preliminary four million euro for the celebration. No one, however, is yet prepared to speculate on the boost to the economy the wedding will bring. “It’s not a business, it’s a festive moment,” emphasized Direct of Tourism Michel Bouquier, who stated that there would be no hike in hotel or restaurant prices, though he did expect that Monaco would capitalize on its "World Capital of Romance" image. Restaurants and hotels, for example, are developing “romance formulas” and commemorative stamps and souvenirs will be available.

Charlene's flunkies read and defend here everywhere. Someone on Eringer's blog is stating that Jason is not staying in Monaco for 7 weeks.

The one about MC's budget noticing several extra millions in expenses is my own opinion. But Roger & Co. have been caught saying several times that the state has to economise more, save more, because money's tight and all that stuff that politicians say in those cases. *) The numbers come from Monaco's yearly state budgets, Monegasque laws in fact: - Loi n° 1.376 du 22 décembre 2010 portant fixation du Budget Général Primitif de l’exercice 2011 (for the numbers for 2011); - Loi n° 1.374 du 21 octobre 2010 portant fixation du Budget Général Rectificatif de l’exercice 2010 (for the numbers for 2010). Additional numbers came from: - a calculator; - a currency conversion site (xe.com before anyone asks). *)Before anyone asks even more: Budget : l'État va réduire son train de vie: www.nicematin.com/article/derniere-minute-monaco/budget-letat-va-reduire-son-train-de-vieand Michel Roger : « Dépenser moins pour dépenser mieux »www.nicematin.com/article/monaco/michel-roger-%C2%AB-depenser-moins-pour-depenser-mieux-%C2%BB. The original articles were probably longer, with graphs and small articles in the margin but since they won't let me read them anymore, I'll have to make do with what they want me to read.

How can they think they can turn Moanco into the "World Capital of Romance" when to must of us it is more like the "World Capital of prostitution and money laundering"?
