It seems that more dirt concerning the King and/or the Queen are surfacing or being dragged into the limelight again. As there is definitely more to come, this thread is dedicated to posting and discussing news, events and actions of H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf and H.M. Queen Silvia.

Firstly, here is one older article summarising the scandal from the last year.
Secondly, there are new claims that a close friend of the King tried to make a deal with the gangster to hush things up.

Anders Lettström, a close friend of Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf, has been caught on tape asking a reputed gangster to broker a deal to hush up reports of the King’s philandering in a recent tell-all book, according to Sveriges Radio (SR).

“I think that you should establish contact and try to find out what the agenda is, what he wants, and what he actually has," Lettström is heard saying on the tape.

When the scandalous biography "Carl XVI Gustaf - Den motvillige monarken" ('Carl XVI Gustaf - The Reluctant Monarch') was published last year, one of the main sources was reputed gangster and night club host Mille Markovic, who gave a detailed account of controversial parties hosted at his club with the King and his friends in attendance.

According to Daniel Webb, bodyguard of alleged Swedish gangster Milan Sevo, the King’s close associates contacted him because they wanted to buy the incriminating material from Markovic and wanted Sevo to act as a go-between. Lettström denies having asked Webb to act on his behalf.

But on tape Lettström can be heard asking Webb to find out what material club owner Mille Markovic really had implicating the King and his friends. Markovic had previously said that he wanted to publish the material.

According to Webb, an agreement was reached and the King’s friends were subsequently made privy to some of the material in Markovic’s possession.

But then they started to haggle over the price and the deal fell through, according to Webb, who says he doesn’t know why they lost interest in reaching an agreement.

“In retrospect it is possible that the King’s friends were only interested in protecting themselves and not the King. When they saw he material they may have come to the conclusion that it wasn’t as interesting as they had thought,” Webb told SR.

The tapes consist of 8 hours of recorded material and were handed over by Webb to freelance journalist Nuri Kino who on Friday releases his book on Milan Sevo called "Den svenske gudfadern" (‘The Swedish Godfather’).

According to daily Expressen, the Royal Court denies having had any information on the deal.

New reactions to the story from yesterday:

King welcomes friend's 'clarification'
Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf has issued a statement welcoming the explanation from his close friend, Anders Lettström, assuming responsibility for contacts with criminals with the purpose of buying sensitive material.

"In response to the latest information in the media, I would like to say that it is good that certain clarifying facts have emerged in this way. I of course distance myself from any form of negotiation with criminals," the King wrote, according to the Royal Court.

Anders Lettström sent an email to the news agency TT on Monday evening confirming that it was he that made contact with criminals with the purpose of silencing sensitive material, assuming full responsibility. "With this statement I want to ask my family, all my friends and not least the King for forgiveness for having harmed them with my initiative," Anders Lettström wrote. Lettström continued to profess that he "is deeply regretful that he initiated contact with unprofessional and criminal people with regards to the book Carl XVI Gustaf - Den motvillige monarken" ('Carl XVI Gustaf - The Reluctant Monarch')".

"I had sought an understanding over how so many lies about myself and others could have been dispersed in a book. Others have since wanted me to buy pictures which I was not aware of, not seen and not wanted to buy and to get me to pay for denials of untruthful statements which I would never have dreamed of buying," Lettström explained.

Lettström at first denied making contact with any criminals, although the Royal Court later confirmed that it was his voice on the tape.

Q: When you look back, is it possible that compromising pictures of you exist?
A: (Sighs) No. I cannot say that it does. Eh, not of that... Sorry, I don´t mean to be disrespectful, but I have a private life as well. I´m thinking of when we are on the island of Öland and go down to the beach to swim and so on. There might be pictures, I don´t know.

Q: But there is nothing in the pictures that were mentioned recently?
A: No. Theres not a chance.

Q: In the book (Den motvillige monarken/The reluctant monarch), is there anything in it that is true about visits to porn clubs, strip clubs or whatever you should call it.
A: Right, whatever you would call it. I have seen parts of the book and there is lots of speculation and other things and I can´t comment on all of these claims. I don´t feel for it at all.

Q: Has Your Majesty ever visited a club of that kind?
A: What kind of club?

Q: A striptease club or sex club.
A: No. No... I don´t think so. No. If I´m being really honest, maybe some of us who were fortunate to be in Paris back in the day, and there we have Les Folies Bergeres and the ladies there are quite scantily dressed. And that establishment I guess I have to confess to have visited, many, many years ago.

Q: And the reports that there have been private parties with scantily clad women, that is also untrue?
A: No... Not that I can recall.

Q: You do think that all this has affected people's trust in the monarchy?
A: I am not blind and I listen and I read newspapers and I take in what has been written and speculated upon, because a lot of it has been speculation, regrettably. As I said earlier, I have been King for 38 years, for which I am very proud, and during those many years I have felt a strong support from the Swedish people.
That has been heartwarming and therefore it has been fun and exciting to work for Sweden, in Sweden and abroad for Sweden. One of many important tasks that I take part in. That has strengthened me tremendously, that support I have felt for so many years and I feel that I want to carry on working and that I will.

Q: These reports, have they in any way changed your mind about the time when the Crown Princess should take over the throne?
A: No. But let me turn the question round and say that I´m very happy that she is so popular and that is something one should be very grateful for. She has a good platform to start from, but I will contiune as long as I am of sound mind and as long as I have a clear head I will carry on and keep fighting and go into a higher gear in the coming years.

Q: Is there something you want to add to all the readers, viewers or listeners?
A: No. Just repeat that I have absolutely no connection of any sort to any criminal elements in our society that some people might have thought and so on. That is something that completely different persons have to take responsibility for. I have never had anything to do with this.

The Mafia-linked club owner who allegedly secretly filmed him in sex sessions with call girls has set up a secure website in his native Serbia where he plans to put the raunchy royal romps online.

Former boxing champ Mile Markovic was held on his return to Sweden from his homeland at the weekend by police who confiscated a laptop computer, two mobile phones and a memory card. He said the Swedes were too late - as the material was already in Serbia being edited for viewing.

Markovic filmed the secret video footage of the king's kinky orgies with escorts in the back rooms of a nightclub he ran. "I want to show the images of the king to show the Swedish people that I was telling truth," he told Serbian newspaper Alo.

Markovic added: "It is not money that attracts me in this case, but to protect the young girls who participated in these orgies after king's friends promised them careers as models and movie stars if they would take part in their dirty games."

The king has denied taking part in orgies.

His worry sounds a bit suspicious to me, he hasn’t left me an impression of a humanitarian.
And how does making the video public protect those girls? I think it might have an opposite effect.
And what is this editing that is being done? Adding the king’s head to a video where some old man is having sex with young girls?

King's birthday was celebrated in the Outer Bailey

Monday, April 30 was celebrated King's birthday is traditionally in the Outer Courtyard.
A couple of thousand people had gathered in the beautiful weather in the Outer Bailey in honor of the King on 66-anniversary.
The celebration began with the Navy Band performed a musical program where the invasion took place at Regina march and then shot Drott Hornet, an Ark medley as well as The winner takes it all and finally Florentinermarsch.
After the Forum, the Army Corps a figurative music program where they began by Bergslagens artillery regiment march "Artillery 5", Drum Salute 01, Euphoria and finished with Västerbotten Regiment March "Helen-march."
Then followed a salute of 21 shots from Skeppsholmen and the Changing of the Guard with The Life Guards Band of the Dragon.
Children courted King with flowers and drawings.
Queen and Crown Princess followed the celebration of one of the royal palace balconies. Prince Carl Philip attended the Outer Bailey during the celebrations.
In conclusion, waved King and Queen, Crown Princess of Princess Estelle and Prince Carl Philip to the public who had gathered in the Outer Courtyard.
