Provence & Côte d’Azur: The famous Cap d’Antibes hotel turns down the US president's room request for the G20 SummitEden Roc says No to ObamaFor US president Barack Obama, however, this simple task may prove to be more difficult than he initially imagined as it has emerged that the major power player in international affairs has been - politely - turned down by the celebrity-haven Eden Rock hotel. The hotel, perched on the Cap d’Antibes, has reportedly declined the request from the American government to accommodate the president on the 3rd and 4th of November, when the summit will be held, stating that it will not be open to customers from mid-October 2011 until April 2012. This is in line with the establishment's normal policy of shutting over this period every year, and there are no exceptions - even if you are one of the most powerful men in the world. It would be too expensive for the hotel to open its door for the president for only two days, the hotel management explain, and too inconvenient for its staff, who would already be on vacation in November. www.rivieratimes.com/index.php/provence-cote-dazur-article/items/eden-roc-says-no-to-obama-1204.html

www.classichollywoodbios.com/carolelombard.htmi LOVE carole lombard, i thought i knew everything about her but i was horrified by this description of after her car wreck "Her film career was interrupted when Carole was injured in a car accident. Her face hit the windshield and was cut from her nose to her left cheekbone. The doctor sewed 14 stitches into her cut without the use of anesthetic, so her facial muscles would not relaxI CAN NOT Imagine!!!!

Will royalopinions join the blackout to protest "Sopa" and "Pipa"? Would make sense. If that kind of legislation goes through our days are numbered.

There's another Psarko baby on the way so not before next year for sure. Kudos for Katie Holmes for keeping her daughter out of the Church of Scientology. It helps that her father is a divorce lawyer. I hope Nicole feeds her info about being locked out of the house while Tom had his John Travolta moments with men. Women, stand up!

And it turns out that, in spite of the support during the alleged rape trail, Anne Sinclair has quietly left hubby DSK (Strauss-Kahn) a month ago. Somehow it must the month of divorces...

Pity the thread for absurd news died with the previous forum. I suppose it is old news, but it is just reaching us here. It seems the IOC and USOC took offence to the Ravelympics, a knitting competition. The olympics, sorry, Olympics are owned by the IOC, including the name so anything or anyone using or including the word olympic needs to have permission. (And pay a lot of dollars, euros, dinars, roubles or any other currency of your choice.) The best sentence ever: With a close second:First it's childish to take offence, second it's overzealous and third it's even worse than childish. Petty doesn't really cover it. Read the whole story in three installments: 1) the beginning: blog.oregonlive.com/knitting/2012/06/us_olympic_committee_lacks_sen.html 2) the return: blog.oregonlive.com/knitting/2012/06/ravelry_vs_us_olympic_committe.html3) knitted, purled and ended: blog.oregonlive.com/knitting/2012/06/usoc_wins_the_olympic_battle_b.html ;D

The IOC has made a farce of the Olympics, at least they could have a sense of humour.
