From this article in Monaco Telecom, Michel Roger, Monaco's Minister of state presented the plan today of how they will measure the total economic benefits of Albert and Charlene's wedding. hey mentioned this before, but I still cannot believe that these morons on going through with this study which in reality a study to justify the ridiculous amount of money that they threw away on this trashy wedding. The study will be a sham because Albert will NOT - NEVER - reveal all money he and partners spent on this trashy made-for-tv wedding. More importantly, you morons, Monaco is the laughing stock of the world. Why in the world will you increase your ridicule by trying to justify some economic benefits of this wedding. How can you open your mouth and say it is a image benefit that tens of millions (I doubt it's that much!) saw this wedding. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN YOU? ARE YOU INSANE? DIDN'T YOU NOTICE THAT ALL WHO SAW (EXCEPT YOUR PAID FLUNKIES) SAW EXPENSIVE IMAGES OF A TWO PATHETIC VERY UNHAPPY PEOPLE MAKING A MOCKERY OF THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE. Good lawd, please return these people to the insane asylum where they clearly escaped. Monaco is in deep shit if this is their public response to the farcical wedding and now marriage.
Balance royal wedding: method and preliminary figures
By B. Ulrich July 13, 2011
Press briefing on Wednesday for the Minister of State and Government. The opportunity to return to the royal wedding but also to explain how the economic benefits will be calculated. Explanation. Three days of celebration for a wedding that marked the spirits. 200 000 people attended according to the Government in the various events that have punctuated the festivities. If the event was an overall success, we must still see a lot of Monaco and residents attended the various festivities. Accumulated to reach the 200 000 is handled with care. However, the world was there, and this will not prevent the Monegasque out to celebrate their prince and princess.
The government, specifically the Imse, thus seeks to make its calculations on the economic benefits of marriage. For that it has methods widely used abroad and already proven at major events such as the Grand Prix.
To do this, three types of benefits are taken into account: direct, indirect and induced.
The first corresponds to the expenditure made by the State and the Centre to organize the event, about 20 million. And according to Michel Roger, 60 to 75% of these costs have landed in the pockets of players of Monaco's economy is 12 to 15 million. To confirm these figures, "the Imse will have access to elements of the government budget."
Indirect benefits, they correspond to the spending by visitors and the public in terms of transport, accommodation, catering and leisure. They will, too, observed under the microscope. The press center, management of tourism and conventions, hotels and restaurants, Nice airport, taxis ... In short all those involved in tourism in any way will be consulted in order to achieve an accurate estimate.
Finally, the induced impact that is "fallout benefits" more difficult to appreciate, will be calculated by a recognized method of applying a coefficient to all direct and indirect.
Finally, the government emphasized that the royal wedding has also generated benefits in terms of image (tens of millions of viewers attended the wedding in front of their screens), but also of tax revenue, jobs and facilities of foreign companies over several months in the Principality.
A good business marriage? Verdict this fall ...

this is a lame attempt of the government to save face. Everyone knows numbers and we have had different numbers in independent media. Monegasques know that they can't trust government numbers. they also know for themselves who was there and who wasn't. When I came back briefly before the civil ceremony started, streets were empty, so no rush from Nice etc to go see the Jarre concert or the wedding and even the Monegasque were still on their way and in no rush to get there. They only wanted to be there in time for free food and drinks and have a good time. they had to change the route of the drive to Devote because there was no one there. On their way down the rock they were waving to imaginary well wishers as only the cameraman on the motorcycle was on the drivers side. And the pedestrian walk up the rock where people could have waited was absolutely empty. I know from my boys that kids from Beausoleil who attend the church and lessons, were made to attend as the Beausoleil church is linked to MC and run by Barsi. Besides people still hope to get their kids to be allowed in MC school this way. It used to work on the past. In any case I am not in MC right now, but I can only imagine how angry Monegasques must be in view of the ridicule they have been exposed to through this farce of a wedding and the amount of money wasted which could have been put to much better use. And shop owners and restaurant owners will surely know without any study if there was an impact or not.

Anke, photos from two tourists who were in Monaco on the day of the wedding SHOW that the streets were empty! These tourists didn't even know who Albert was and had to Google him. Look at all the barricades - with NO ONE behind them. These two tourists were even able to go up to the palace and watch the procession - so they were desperate for tourists to watch the recession. Also, I've read a couple of other bloggers who stated they were able to watch the procession. Below is an excerpt from their blog:
So after spending an hour roaming around Eze Village, we hopped onto another bus that took us to Monaco! It’s famous for its casino but it so happened that the day we were there was the day of the marriage of the Prince of Monaco. I got excited until Michelle and I googled Prince Albert of Monaco and realised he was 52 and not very attractive. Wongs sent me a Whatsapp message saying ‘OMG he’s a womaniser you know!’ which didn’t help matters at all. NYEH.
Still, it’s cool being able to say I was at the Prince of Monaco’s wedding! We trekked all the way up to the palace for a look-see but didn’t stay for the entire procession- I actually didn’t get to see the prince but we hung around in the crowd for a bit looking at the big screen, royal weddings are such fluffy affairs, people take so long to get in and out of cars!! No patience at all. The government is lying to cover Sucker Albert's failed predictions about the appeal and economic benefits of his trashy made-for-tv wedding - and the study will be a joke! The photos are large high definitions photos linked below and the blogger has time stamps on her photos so when download, I can see the times. Taken: 2011:07:02 17:58:54 ( 5:58 pm): Lots of barricades with NO tourists behind themTaken: 2011:07:02 17:56:33 ( 5:56 pm): The two bloggers in front of an empty casino squareTaken: 2011:07:02 18:18:00 ( 6:18 pm): At the Princess Grace Theater Taken: 2011:07:02 18:47:00 ( 6:47 pm): At the Nall statueTaken: 2011:07:02 19:01:02 ( 7:01 pm): At the Oceanographic Museum

MyAdia, they may lie about anything they want: stats, reports, etc. But, the money (or lack thereof) and the tourism (or lack thereof) cannot be covered up for long. It's like wanting to cover the Sun with a finger. It will collapse all around them.

^ Looks like a pretty empty and desolate place. The palace can do all the studies that they want and lie about the numbers, but the people who matter the most in this, the Monegasques, know the truth about how successful this business merger was. Albert needs to start caring about what his citizens think, not what his sycophant staff tells him. Hey, Al, why don't would take a walkabout in Monaco and ask shopkeepers and others how things are going?

Something tells me that if it didn't work in Sweden (which had a lot more air play because of the Nordic countries) that it won't work in Monaco either. In fact Sweden sold a lot more trinkets than Monaco did (theirs were reasonably priced, though) Royal wedding did not live up to economic expectations: www.stockholmnews.com/more.aspx?NID=7373

"Finally, the government emphasized that the royal wedding has also generated benefits in terms of image" yeah right. Now everyone knows that Monaco still practises forced weddings and labels children illegitimate, and lies, pretentiousness and fakeness are the norm. Such a noble image!

LOL ;D It reminds me of GDR and the Party's media proudly printing the five-year plan is delivering positive results and economy is going up - while the shops remained empty and the country crumbled in front of our eyes .

In fact Sweden sold a lot more trinkets than Monaco did (theirs were reasonably priced, though) Royal wedding did not live up to economic expectations: www.stockholmnews.com/more.aspx?NID=7373Thanks for the article! The problem with Sweden is that they over estimated how economically SUCCESSFULLY the wedding would be, but - unlike Monaco - Sweden actually had tangible economic success from Victoria's wedding! Monaco will no see any of the type of below economically and image success experienced in Sweden. From the article: -- There is no total figure for the sales of wedding-related products, but retail sales shows that the wedding did not give as much as expected. The wedding was expected to increase sales in Stockholm's retail stores by 30 per cent, but the result landed at 14 per cent.
-- Also with regard to tourism, the royal wedding never managed to live up to the expectations. The Swedish Trade Federation Swedish Trade estimated that the wedding would attract 12,000 tourists, which would give Swedish businesses an additional SEK 100 million. But in terms of hotel bookings, they did not match what was anticipated.
--However, overnight stays in July and August 2010 were significantly more than the same month in 2009, so the tourism increased over a longer period of time.
--“The intense media coverage contributed to an increase in the number of visitors who visited Sweden and Stockholm in 2010, inspired by television and newspaper articles,” Visit Sweden's CEO, Thomas Brühl.

Why even waste time and money doing a "study" when you are already telling the people what the result will be. TNot only the palace, but the Monaco government must think the people in Monaco are really really STUPID! So, is this Monaco leaders' solution to the country's financial crisis - writing newspaper articles telling everyone that there is no problem and everything is ok? IF this is their strategy, I wonder how long do they believe they can keep this up until they are all run out of town? Did I miss all those article where shop and restaurant owners reported how busy they were during the wedding festivities and bragged about all the money that they made from the 200,000 tourists? Here's he Monaco Matin headline for today: The princely Wedding boosted the economy

Monaco Hebdo has a series of aricles dedicated to this wedding. The reporters are really trying to report about the wedding and promote Monaco - without making complete fools of themselves (like Bern) gushing about how much of a fairy tale and how much in love Albert an Charlene are. I was surprised to read in a couple of article about how EMPTY the streets were. The had the giant screens up with no one there to watch them! It really is ridiculous - and insulting - for the government to make up some numbers to prove that this farcical wedding is an economic benefit to Monaco. Business owners are stating that they expected more people - but they were not there.
"I do not want to miss! "
If July 2, the streets of Monaco was not crowded (about 15,000 people according to authorities), many fans would have missed this unique moment for the world.By Celine Galbrun 20 July 2011
The shopping streets are strangely empty of Monaco in the late morning of July 2. However, fans do not miss the call. Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Belgium ... They come from all walks of life. And meeting boulevard Albert Ier and the Sainte Devote church, they wait patiently for the procession of the couple. "I'm here since 12 o'clock, I do not want to miss the ceremony! exclaimed Jane, an Englishwoman who lived in South Africa and now living in Beausoleil. I was very angry yesterday because I was not able to attend the civil wedding on television because of the DSK affair which was broadcast on all channels. Today I am there, I do not want to miss!" A little later, two Dutch hat proudly display the colors of their country, where you can read Maxima and Willem, the names of the Prince and Princess of the Netherlands. "My wife is a big fan of all the kingdoms of Europe. She also called Reina Reyes, which means King Queen, "said Asdrubal Medix. Before adding, with emotion, with a smile: "We are there for the weekend. This is our gift for our 37 years of marriage." Both love the royal wedding, on track for 9 h 30, would yield no place for anything. Fans "Albert and Charlene, long live the bride and groom," that's what it says on the banner as Francine, Chantal, Nathalie and Alexandra, four Marseillaises, hardcore fans of the ruling family. A passion handed down for three generations, present every year on November 19 in the principality. "The royal wedding, you could not miss it!" Says Nathalie elsewhere. At 8 am, they traveled to St. Devote. "But we were deported immediately. Only the owners of an invitation can access it. This has deeply disappointed." But nothing seems to spoil the party of the Marseille fans: "We were very moved when the Prince Albert and Charlene have said yes Friday, for the royal wedding. We are very happy for them. Charlene is truly a beautiful woman. Now we want to see her wedding dress!" A dress that everyone has discovered some hours later when the princess went up the red carpet on the arm of her father Michael.
Flash contest When the wedding begins, there is still no crowd at the Boulevard Albert I, or even at the Brasserie de Monaco, before giant screens installed for the occasion. "I expected more people," surprised Francois Pichon, the brewmaster. This does not stop clapping and cheering in full swing at strategic moments of the ceremony. When the procession starts from Palace Square, the audience also rush to the gates, cameras, camcorders and phones glued to the road. The couple spent. The crowd waved flags as fast as the flashes into place. And it carefully as Monaco and tourists attending the deposition of the bouquet then the church Sainte Devote. With a feeling amplified when one can now call Princess Charlene shed a few tears. The tears that still resonate in the thousands of fans, happy to have made the trip. "Charlene is a reflection of the role expected of it," enthuses Genevieve, which had a Monegasque well enjoy these intense moments to the end of the night.?

Monaco is again trying to « squeeze blood from a turnip » by portraying this wedding as an economical success because it was broadcast around the world – including South Africa. Monaco Hebdo (to read the article in French, scroll down) is using the fact the Afrikaans magazine Huisgenoot is dedicating perhaps 10 to 20 pages to the wedding, Charlene was on the cover and the magazine published stories about Charlene and the wedding in the months leading up to the wedding as PROOF that Charlene is popular and loved in the entire South Africa – thus an economic benefit to Monaco. They are counting on the people of Moanco’s ignorance in not knowing that Huisgenoot sister magazine YOU barely covered Charlene and this wedding and in six years Charlene received I believe just one full cover. Most importantly, even this South African reporter noticed that the Monaco was EMPTY! So, how is Monaco going to claim an economic benefit of the wedding when hardly anyone came to actually spend MONEY? Marriage seen in South Africa
If Monaco has stepped through the marriage of his head of state, what about South Africans? Alet van Zyl, Huisgenoot journalist, tells us more about the pride felt by the country of Charlene.By Aline Lambert. 20 July 2011
The days of Alet van Zyl were long. No more than 5 hours of sleep. Arrival in Monaco Thursday, she chained the civil and religious ceremonies, concerts, fireworks. Qu'Alet is because South African journalist and in one of the largest newspapers in the country: the weekly Huisgenoot. "This is a family magazine written in Afrikaans, one of the eleven official languages. It deals with current events, celebrities, sports, but there is also a TV guide and recipes. "It is translated into English, You Magazine, where the emphasis is on international celebrities.
For several months, the magazine devotes at least a page a week to marriage. "I interviewed Charlene during the competition charitable Midmar Mile in Durban in February. We also published an article on the Grimaldi family, a simple presentation of the Principality and graphics - which happens to marriage, the path of the procession, and so on. In June, we published more articles. Charlene was the one issue for our pre-marriage. I met old teachers Charlene. "
"10 to 20 pages" Huisgenoot take over most of the topics covered for the wedding of Kate and William. "Who comes, who does not come, the princess outfits, celebrities ... We also compare Kate and Charlene, and this marriage with that of Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly. "Alet interviewed South Africans, but also to gather their impressions Monaco. "I talked to a person who was present at the marriage in 1956. She explained that it was very different: more celebrity and extravagance for it. I also asked what they thought Monegasques food in South Africa they have been served after the civil marriage. They found it spicy, but loved! "
Ultimately, it will therefore be from 10 to 20 pages will be devoted to marriage, more than a hundred. "Maybe even more, for the wedding of Kate and William, we released 30 pages! But there will be many more pictures than articles. "
"People are really interested" According Alet, South Africans have been intrigued by this union princely. "We have no royalty here. But to see a normal girl can become a princess, it gave the impression of a fairy tale perfect. "The wedding was broadcast on national TV. "People are really interested. Those who usually do not follow the royal subjects watched. "
"It makes us really proud! " Alet has covered the religious marriage from the Palace Square. "I found it beautiful. For cons, I was surprised that so few people in the city! " And as to the place of South Africa in the royal wedding ..." Click on song isi Xhosa, really typical, was sung during the marriage; dinner Saturday night, a South African group has sung in Afrikaans; our flag is everywhere, Jason Hartman made the first part of the Eagles ... Charlene has everything done for us to include. What makes us really proud! "

it's a joke, it never made the radar in America and what did was BAD> laughing and ridicule.
i bet FatAl is spitting nails, making threats, trying intimidation and furious, FURIOUS about the horrible PR failure at every single turn OMG if WE'D wrote the script we couldn't have shown it worse (it really is so laughingly unbelievable)
Moronaco should not expect flocks of American visitors basking in the romantic image (i think that's what they were trying for anyway ROFL) spending their vacations. they need to be courting the thugs, mafia and criminals that FatAl calls friends and hope they don't get caught laundering their money and thinking up ponzi schemes.
eringer had interesting posts on the banking laws in moronaco THERE AREN'T any, they can take your money, lose your money or just refuse to give you your money....Tooo bad, who ya gonna call the courts or the palace! that's how they stole all the deported jews during WWII's wealth and i wouldn't be surprised if they aren't doing the same thing in some way today JMO like i said he's had some very interesting posts and they've never sued him JMO
they need just go ahead and embrace the saying and put "sunny place for shady people" on the t-shirts and coffee mugs.
