Here is some interesting information about the 2011 Princes Grace Awards gala on Tuesday November 1, 2011 . First, the invitations were sent a month earlier than in previous years. Second, the invitation has ALWAYS stated "IN THE PRESENCE OF _____ " (a name of a Grrimaldi family member like Albert or Caroline). However, this year the invitation does not include any such statement nor cite any family member who will be present. Any thoughts or opinions? Is this the beginning of the Charlene Effect (a negative one)? Are people embarrassed to be in the company of Albert now? Are they still haggling/negotiating who in the family will attend? Here is the 2009 PGA Invitation in which Albert brought his parasite who is now his wife.

It does say in the presence of Albert. I guess they didn't mention trashy for fear that she might not be around by then. In any case I'd rename the thread and call it in the absence of beauty.

Well, perhaps the family doesn't give a rat's ass and no one is coming. Good luck trying to get people to purchase tickets after Fat Al spent 50m euros in the sham wedding. Part of this money could have gone here.

I think there maybe are a lot of reasons. The sisters (Caro) may wish to first know the trued about the rumours.
And if there is still more scandals coming, it might be best that nobody is present at the Princess Grace Awards gala. So it just survives. Continue to exist JMO.
And, above all, perhaps because they indeed are no longer together.

I suppose that they might send Caro and her lot if the media keep going after the divorce birds. They keep trying to do all those photo ops which just keep making things worse. So instead they might leave it open and send Caro over with the trio. They would better announce it though first as Caro is a much bigger draw then Albert or trashy or the combined version. With Caro there, they might actually have a few real celebrities turn up.

If a family member does not show, then they will in effect kill off his Mother's foundation. I think in some perverted way, Albert wants to do that. I think Caroline would like to see her kids take it over but now she can't because of Albert and Charlene. My bet is that Caroline has retired as first lady and will leave the mess to Albert. She will only do the ballet and orchestra and perhaps some of the art exhibitions. Otherwise, I think she has washed her hands of the mess. JMO

We know that Steph doesn't like it and Caro has missed a few too. If only the divorce birds show, it will be a very uninteresting event for most to attend...

Paca, someone who received an actual invitation (and not the "save the date" card) told me about the invite missing "In the Presence of." Also, the fact that they sent the invitations a month earlier than normally shows that they are concern about attendance (perhaps because of the economy, other vents and perhaps because of concerns about the prestige of the family is lessening).

Seemingly they cannot decide so early or they are fighting each other who will come. Internal communication problems. Mme Stahl would have the last word??? imo.

Also, the fact that they sent the invitations a month earlier than normally shows that they are concern about attendance (perhaps because of the economy, other vents and perhaps because of concerns about the prestige of the family is lessening). I think the economy has been worse a few years back. Those rich enough to attend are surely not affected. I think it is more a problem of people having other plans. They did have clashes with more popular events in the past, so they might want to avoid that. (didn't work for the wedding either where they thought by giving a year notice they would be able to outdo the Brits) Their main problem is that other organizers do not have to fear that their potential guest will decide to go to the PGA. So announcing the date earlier, does not necessarily secure them the guests that would draw the media. And even those who do get seats early are not guaranteed to show in the end if sth better comes along. The event has lost it's prestige for quite sometime as has Monaco. Neither are the places to be any more. Their problem is that they do not know who would be a draw for people to attend who has actually some affiliation with the event. Just a celebrity is not enough to draw people who have money. Just like they did not know that Jarre would not be a draw for the crowds to come to Monaco. Not even for free. these people are so living outside the real world and time that they simply have no clue. And they are so used to everything being about them that they forgot that these events are about others and not a convenient photoop where others are footing the bill for you.

In the past they have always had a family member and relied on friends of Grace to provide the "A" list stars. It's been steadily going downhill for a while because no one is cultivating the "A" list, and the "A" listers don't care about Charlene and Albert like they did for Kate and William. In fact may be they should ask Kate and William to host it (just kidding). I think they need to move the location of the event around the country (any half-wit fund-raiser would have thought of that) so 1 year in NYC, the next in LA, the next Houston or Dallas, Chicago etc. Then they draw from different crowds and different Hollywood folk who came from those regions. In addition they can choose artists to celebrate from those regions, but then this requires somebody to actually think about fund-raising and we know that's not happening. My bet - they move it to SA! JMO

I just can't wait for trashy doing hers. what will she be raising money for? wading pools for toddlers? and then all the Kardashians of the world flocking to the most expensive and trashiest event in town...

Again, I think, how, as a foundation, can you have the gall to ask for ticket purchases (donations?) when the head of such foundation spent 50m euros on getting married to Frankenbarbie?

Oh they are totally testing the waters on this one! They want to basically save the date and hopefully save face for the craziness that has gone on for the past month. I think their PR folks have no idea how to get past this. All that they've tried has backfired on them and has made it all worse. So, now it's all about moving forward and forgetting about it--- so throw out the invites early and see who's still on team Monaco. BUT, leave out specifics just in case they need to bring in the "big guns", i.e., Caro and her 3 stars, to make it a success! The press loves the young and beautiful... thinking it would help folks forget about that messy wedding joke, and paternity lawsuits. Unfortunately, I think the damage is done, especially since Con-lene has the aura of an oversized wooden puppet on a string! The luster has gone from Monaco... it's just gone.

Well, it seems that they filled in the blank - Albert and Charlene both will be at the PGA's. I guess they wanted people to attend which is why they didn't put on the invite that Princess Conlene of Monaco will be there for them to worship. The Princess Grace Foundation-USA, a public charity, was formed after the death of Princess Grace in 1982. The Foundation awards scholarships, apprenticeships and fellowships to emerging theater, dance and film artists to assist with career development. The 2011 winners will receive their awards at the annual black-tie Princess Grace Awards Gala, in the presence of TSH Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, on November 1, 2011 in New York City.

Part of this money could have gone here. Maybe he should just pass around a hat and take up a collection for his overpaid escort service mock wife--I'm sure people would really like to donate something for another Tiara for her big head! If Albert wants anyone to be interested in supporting anything he is involved with--he better keep Charlene locked up in her Tower office? ;D
