Do you think her "patriotism" is to tease the Monégasques? IMO it´s okay to show that there is still a bond to your old country, but I find that bizarre. Like she is something better, and the Monégasques just Euro-trash like some old member here said.

It takes someone narcissistic and blind to the world to not see how bad this is... The clothes, the portrait commission, the jewels, now the redecoration of the palace (we don't even know which parts, but still).. All piled on top of the wedding costs. With the financial situation in most of the world at this point, the effects are magnified. Monaco is not doing so well financially at this point. How long until someone calls Charlene et al out on spending? The speed at which she is spending all of this money would be comical if it weren't so reckless.. Maybe there is enough money in the family's accounts to handle the costs, but you just don't do this at times like these! Restraint must not exist in Charlene's vocabulary... She's been handed the keys to the toy store and Albert's bank account. She will spend the place dry, unless Albert beats her too it. Will no one in Monaco get these two to leave town permanently?

If all that is "re-done" is the private living quarters of the palace then OK. I do understand why Charlene would want to re-do that part of palace. If I moved into my new husband's really old home with his mother's kitchen, father's bathroom, and the dining room and family room that were designed for my hubby and his siblings when they were young etc... it is a given that re-decorating needs to be done. As a new bride I would not accept the interior decorating of my deceased in-laws and would change it. If I remember correctly, when Grace became a bride, she and Rainier built or added new rooms to the private family living quarters. I don’t imagine that the state rooms will be touched such as the Mazarin Room with the ornate Italian woodwork or the throne room with its red silk velvet canopy topped with a crown not to mention the Louis XV bedroom called the Yellow room, the Versailles inspired hall of mirror gallery or the blue room with its 19th century Italian gilt with the Venetian chandeliers etc……..that would be crazy if those were redone because each room has been carefully restored already. These rooms are museum quality antique masterpieces. I'm curious to know what caught Charlene's attention in regards to this SA designer. His hotel creations looks like hotel creations. Well, maybe there will be a documentary to show off the new palace rooms. Grace did a TV special after she and Rainier re-did the palace and restored all of the old state rooms.

I am pretty sure that Charlene is ONLY redecorating the living quarters. But, I still have problem with it mainly because it is too soon after a disastrous very expensive wedding when the country has a huge budget deficit and the Minister of State has TOLD the country that EVERYONE has to tighten their belts. Charlene has already spent too much too soon and has bragged about it - including making documentaries about her new tiaras. Also, hiring a South African to do the redo is not a very endearing move to her new countrymen. also, this is something that Charlene bragged about doing as soon as she got engaged. Not only did she bragged about doing it she put down the palace when she bragged about doing it. This move, along with all her other spending, is making her look more and more like Marie Antoinette - and at least Marie could speak French! But clearly, Albert is aware how bad this looks, that's why he wanted to keep the redo a SECRET. Albert knows, but just doesn't care - and that is what's worse about this.

she has no style, picks crappy designers, so it follows whoever this is coming to the palace will just be a continuation of her lack of any sense of ANYTHING! then there will be this big reveal and crappy p.r. push about how hard she worked on it. with stahl licking her chops in the background charlene will give the sucker media a grand tour. she'll wear 3-4 ball gowns during the staged interview that will appear with photos of her posing "naturally" on the divans, couches, chairs, beds. actually what we'll be looking at is the bed she wants us to think she and albert share; a guest room for her family, which actually is where albert takes his ho's he sleeps with. she'll talk about how busy she's been with that and all her charity work posing for pics with little brown babies and then there'll be this fake meeting with her and her "charity" team talking like she just saved somalians from famine. then, more photos of her with her fake two friends sitting outside in the garden laughing, drinking mint julips or whatever the hell they drink, in designer wear that no NORMAL person wears sitting around a garden. there will be a shot of her standing underneath her painting that has just been commissioned, trying to look regal but more looking like she's got gas with her flinching fake grin. and we can't forget the quote she'll give of how they're working on a family and the final room will be the baby's room. with hands placed on her stomach area, she'll do her best Princess Grace impression trying to look as serene as hell while giving the camera a wink-wink- big-smile-eff-you-haters-look on her plastic face, trying to tease us that ooohhh, maybe i'm pregnaaaant [which in turn sends the sugahs into one big orgasmic tizzy!]
these two are one big predictable, walking cliche. snore.

You've nailed it Creative! I second your comment CM7007! but will the "press" really care? Except Point de Vue, Gala, and Paris Match, most of the press has decided since the L'Express article not to drink the kool-aid. Take a look at the posting on this forum and how much it's slowed down. That's because these two are only worth watching like a good B movie flick when things get boring. What are they going to do for an encore? I think if CW gets pregnant then they will have their photo ops but if she can't then the press will simply ignore them. Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton are far more interesting to the press to follow at this point.

In any other situation, when people spend millions in their weddings, trips, or redecorating their homes, I've always told others : " so? it's their money, they worked for it " . But in the case of Monarchy and government, that's unacceptable. That's the people's taxes and they should be careful on how they spend it. If Monaco's government had not said "Tight your belts" I would have said, "well, Monaco has tons of money, it's OK". But, if Monaco has money problems, this is seriously a very irresponsible woman. A terrible princess. And if Albert said it's OK, then he is a terrible ruler.
