LOL OMG Monkey see monkey do. Now Albert wants his portrait painted by the artist who is doing WillKate. This is really pathetic. Are there no good local artists or French artists worthy of the painting Albert. WillKate's choice makes sense given Canada's relationship to the British Crown. Quite shrewd actually. Elsa Castelli did a portrait of Albert that I think is perfect. JMO

I believe that the author of the article is stating that he met the artist in London yesterday (not Albert running into the artist in London yesterday): He had just learned the good news when I met him at the Opera Gallery yesterday afternoon. Located on New Bond Street, one of the most prestigious streets of London, the gallery exhibits Picasso and Paul McCartney and has several stars as clients. "He had just learned the news..." - the "he" is the artist André Monet. "...when I met him..." - the "I" is the author of the article - MARIE-JOËLLE PARENT.

WOW i thought it was bad luck to rename a ship, that's what i've always been taught. JMO they know something bad or suspect something coming in the future that would be embarrassing and are cutting their losses. i really think this is a big deal, wonder what brought it on, the sexual assaults, the tranny bride or his hypocritical posturing GOOD FIND! mrplow!

"To reinforce the Silversea luxury brand image for the expedition segment, we decided to change the name of our first expedition ship to Silver Explorer and anticipate any future expedition ships will bear similar names that evoke a sense of luxurious adventure."
It is bad luck to rename a ship.
"Lefebvre added, "It has been an absolute privilege to have a ship in our fleet named in tribute to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II. We will continue to honor his legacy of exploration and environmental conservation through our support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, and look forward to hosting future onboard fundraising events to benefit the Foundation's projects."
Are there problems with the foundation of Albert?

i would imagine there are BIG problems with the FAtAl foundation, my $$$'s on it's been laundering money for his friends for years.....perhaps an audit is in the offering, who, what, when and how it's been accepting "donations" for favors JMO
i think if we knew what FatAl has been up to it'd make madoff look like a choir boy. he's as big a con man as trashlene, i just hope they go down together, i highly doubt he'd take the fall and go to jail for her like madoff did for his wife. JMO

After rereading the article: yep, you're right. I only read the French version and kind of glossed over the first part of the sentence, then read the "je" as being the artist... Superficial internet speed reading has a lot to answer for. If they keep on supporting Albert/PA foundation, they can't really have any issues with the guy or the foundation. If so, they are probably the only ones that don't have issues with Albert. BTW, countess, almost every royal has his or her own foundation. Goes with the job. And I do wonder if each and every one isn't a cover for one thing or another. The Royaldishers had/have many suspicions about Mary and her foundation for example. ETA and: on a different topic: France is thinking about making it illegal to visit prostitutes. Might be tricky for Albert? On the other hand, he can do whatever he wants anyway: head of state, immunity, etc.

Albert is now issuing "royal warrants" - like the King of Sweden. Today he announced that Lexus is the official supplier for the royal family of Monaco, not just the wedding. These people and their freebies are disgusting. I realize they stay rich for a reason but the largesse was not something his parents subscribed too. Sadly, he and WC like bribes. Why announce it today? Is it to catch attention or to make sure it's buried and people don't see that they are taking freebies again? www.carpages.co.uk/lexus/lexus-28-04-11.asp

Thanks Mr. Plowfan! I never heard of the term "royal warrants" before. The Monaco Princely family has several "official suppliers" - Repossi for jewelry, the carpet family whose name escapes me now, and many others. But, they are mainly local Monaco vendors. I think all these sponsors for the wedding is just outright trashy and tacky - which suits Albert and Charlene perfectly.

Seems that they have left the first floor of Hotel de Paris so there is a place free for the Whiteshocks to move in. If Monaco is lucky they and their offspring will find a similar end as their Tunisian counterparts.

They are Persians who came here via Munich. one of the daughters did a German trash TV thing at some point.

I think I remember making a nasty remark about this some time ago, but that might be old age pouncing on me. BTW, they are princely purveyors twice, not just once. And there are zillions more princely purveyors, not just a handful. Albert seems to throw that "distinction" around like breadcrumbs to ducks.

I wonder how much competitive swimming has Albert done to warrant his award since the description of his accomplishment is rather skimpy - to say the least! I'm surprised that they didn't honor Charlene - for sealing the deal. Wondering if Albert is going to stop over in Florida to collect this award on the way from Brazil. International Swimming Hall of Fame honors Prince Albert II, others 6 May 2011
The 2011 International Swimming Hall of Fame honors will be awarded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, during three days of events that include an international diving Grand Prix. The honorees include Australian Olympian Ian Thorpe, United States Olympian Lenny Krayzelburg, and the British open water swimmer Michael Read, who held the Britain's title of King of the Channel for 26 years. Monaco's Prince Albert II will receive the ISHOF Gold Medallion in a year already distinguished by his nuptials.
The awards weekend, May 5 - 8, also sees the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix, a Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) event featuring the world's greatest Olympic divers, at the Hall of Fame Pool.
A competitive swimmer in his youth, Prince Albert, the son of Prince Rainier III and Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, has family ties to ISHOF through his maternal uncle, John B. Kelly, Jr, who served as President of ISHOF from 1981 – 1984. The prince has competed in the bobsled at every Winter Olympics from Calgary to Salt Lake City and has been a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1985. He will marry former South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock in July.
The Gold Medallion is presented each year to a former competitive swimmer for his or her national or international significant achievements in the field of science, entertainment, art, business, education, or government. Past recipients include US Senator Barry Goldwater, US President Ronald Reagan and International Olympic Committee members Dick Pound and Joao Havelange.
The other 2011 honorees are: Synchronized swimmer from Japan, Miya Tachibana; Yugoslavia's, then later Serbia's, water polo star Aleksandar Sostar; Honor Coach Denes Kemeny; pioneer synchronized swimmer Re Calcaterra of the United States; Australian water polo legend Thomas Hoad; Lewis Gordon Pugh, a British environmental activist, swimmer, maritime lawyer and motivational speaker; and Portugal's Pedro Adrega, Editor-in-chief of FINA Aquatics World Magazine.

I knew someone who also attended with the group. Boys weekend out! Wink, wink, nod, nod! Anyway ... he should have taken Trampolina with him ... she could have picked up alot of business this weekend

I knew someone who also attended with the group. Boys weekend out! Wink, wink, nod, nod! Anyway ... he should have taken Trampolina with him ... she could have picked up alot of business this weekend Yep, he was at the Derby this weekend! Here'a an article about an encounter with him by one of the reality show stars of Housewives of Orange County. Who would have thought that Albert is a fan? Coffey Talk : When a prince meets a Real Housewifeby Claudia Coffey May 8, 2011
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)- Say what you want about reality TV, but without a doubt its got that “I can’t turn away factor” that has reeled in the most cynical TV viewers.
It is not just you and me watching these shows, apparently there are some “royal” watchers out there who are fans too.
Real Housewife of Orange County, Vicki Gunvalson, was a first-time visitor at this year’s Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby.
I interviewed her on Millionaire’s Row, and I was thrilled to chat up a reality show star that really did act like a normal woman. We talked about our families, where she’s from and what she thinks of the fame that the show has brought her. She’s normal folks and approachable.
Of all the stars I interviewed, she was the only one with a line of fans waiting to take pictures with her.
She calls me on my cell phone Sunday morning to tell me that she was blown away by one particular fan, Prince Albert of Monaco. Yes, Prince Albert.
So the story goes, he walked up to her table and asked if she was Vicki Gunvalson from the Real Housewives show. She tells me she’s just shocked at this point that the Prince even knows her name.
He then goes on to tell her he’s a huge fan of the show and asks to have his picture taken with her. Even the royals are watching our reality shows.
