I guess Monaco and their heads of state are really desperate for attention. Dreamwedding of the century was not enough! They now have to rub elbows with the really famous people to get mentioned in the papers. Or to put it with Hamlet Act 1, scene 4, 87–91 "Marcellus: Something is rotten in the state of Denmark Monaco." And we all know how that ended. Question here is - are we dealing with a tragedy or a comedy gone astray?. Maybe Oscar material after all! ;D

I think they will fit right in with the Hollywood gang. After all they're in showbusiness too. Maybe she's hoping for a nomination for the leading lady's role? or would the supporting role be more appropriate.
Charlie goes to Hollywood.

Checking in today to see what is going on with my 'favorite' couple and I see that they are going to the Oscars. What else can Albert do to diminish and denigrate his position? There is no reason for them to attend; they will be just like the other hundreds of people scrambling for some press and exposure. How pathetic! I'm really starting to wonder if Monaco will be able to survive this loser couple.
Caroline, how much more rope are you going to give Albert? I think he has thoroughly hung himself and I'm afraid that the rope is going to reach around your family too (and your country) if you keep waiting for these clowns to leave the stage voluntarily. If you need some help pushing them out, I'm available. (I'll also be happy to assist in the fumigation of the palace and Roc Agel.)
;D ;D ;D

Duchesscornflower, you should email Albert and suggest this! It's an amazing idea!!! I would love to see that movie. I am sure others would love it as well.

I think I found the reason they are going to the Oscars - It seems there is gossip that people really really want Kate and William to attend because of the movie War Horse and because according to one article, they are friends with several of Hollywood's "heavy hitters" already and because, so it says, they would make it an Oscar event to remember. Interesting gossip and I wonder if this is where Charlene and Albert got the idea that they should attend?

It is because PA have rolled all over the world the venue in the memory of his lovely and beautifully shining iconic mother. And CC will only be hanging him. lol

Wm and Kate attending would make it much more of a security nightmare than it already is. You have no idea how horrible going to the Oscars is! Plus, while War Horse is a wonderful film, it's not likely to win - and everyone knows this. It could win, but it isn't predicted - so their going would seem even less likely. Perhaps CW believes everything she reads and she was hoping to upstage Kate. I think she believes she will be the center of attention - or at least get A LOT of press and attention - which of course won't happen - at least not on the level she is fantasizing it will be.

Once they have no category for the "best con artist" I really don't know why they go to the Oscars. No matter how good she cried in the Church after the made-for-tv-wedding (maybe Charlene thinks she was part of a movie???) and at "A heart for children"... she IS no actress (like Grace).

They saw the reaction that Will and Kate got at attending their little events (nothing like the scale of the Oscars) and thought, with the Princess Grace connection, that they could do it too. Will and Kate didn't need the biggest event of the town to get everyone excited-- just a couple of things that are specifically important to British interests! What interests in film does Monaco have that will be represented at the Oscars this year??.... wait, what's that sound I hear? oh, crickets... I think that there is no luster or interest in Europe for the two of them since she boggled that with her waterworks at the wedding and his impatience with her. The veil was lifted on their sham of a marriage even before the ink on the wedding register had dried! So, since everyone in Europe and probably other royal houses are rolling theirs eyes at the transparent trashiness and fakeness of the Monaco royals, only one other place to go to find other people who would be impressed and in awe of them... HOLLYWEIRD!!

The official announcement said they will attend for "the coronation of "The artist" with Jean Dujardin, French film announced as favorite in the race for statuettes." That's really funny. I wonder if the idiots even knows it's a SILENT FILM! But then maybe that's why she understood it. Perhaps she thinks if she goes in support of this film, people will think she understands French!

I could understand if it was a major anniversary of his mother's win, but, no it's not. What a laughing stock! Remember how PA was depicted in The Social Network? And now along with his weepy "prison bride"? But, if they just hang out with the French contingent, what the hell will SHE do? She won't understand a damn thing said!

Well it seems that The Artist's director just won Best Director from the Directors Guild which generally does mean it will most probably win best picture. Which is a surprise to me, but what do I know. I liked the film, but not enough to think it should win best picture. Still, what does any of this have to do with the two morons?

Well, they apparently have an abnormal need for attention, and what better way to get it than to latch onto someone who has the spotlight for the moment. Laughing stock would be diplomatic, delusional need for grandeur and attention would be more direct. JMO. As for the film, while I have only seen clips, its a throw back and a novelty, in the genre of Charlie Chaplin and thus the attention. It's really a homage to Hollywood but I'm not a film expert. JMO.
