“Swinging London” Rose ball in Monaco Under the Presidency of His Serene Highness the Sovereign Prince Albert II of Monaco and Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover, the Rose Ball in aid of the Fondation Princesse Grace will take place in the Salle des Étoiles on 24 March 2012.
1/20/2012 This year, the theme chosen by HRH The Princess of Hanover, president of the Fondation, is “Swinging London”. “Swinging London” is a term applied to the cultural scene that flourished in London in the 1960s. It was a period of optimism and hedonism after the austere and dark post-war years. The origins The origin of “Swinging London” dates back to the April 1966 issue ofTime Magazine which described the English capital as the “Swinging City”. London became the capital of all things cool: Fashion, music, culture, films… Everywhere, this phenomenon took over all aspects of creativity. Swinging London was born, setting the pace for the rest of England and, indeed, the whole world. Everyone went there for the boutiques, clubs, bars and art galleries. Mary Quant, the high priestess of fashion, launched the mini skirt which became a fashion hit all over the world. It was also during that decade that so many now-legendary bands were founded including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks and Pink Floyd Carnaby street attitude Carnaby Street became the epicentre of this cultural revolution. Trendsetting top models such as Twiggy were big names. Men wore their hair long and sported flower-power shirts. Women discovered liberation. A generation emerged… a new way of life as well as a new way to take on the world. That decade liberated and moulded the modern attitudes we have inherited. The 2012 Rose Ball — “Swinging London - Swinging Rose” — will recreate the psychedelic and frenzied ambience of London in the 1960s, sweeping away everything in its path. This evening will not be about nostalgia… it will be an explosion of colour and jollity with a new London generation on stage. "swinging London" sounds like they are playing into the Olympics and also the Kate and William factor for attention. Caroline has been stuck in this time era for the last several years (1960-1980). May be these are her happiest times? Sounds like a sad attempt for attention. I like Caroline a lot but this seems more Palace designed than Caroline. On the other hand, nothing Charlene wears could be out of place.

Am I missing something or why isn't the new princess listed on there too? Because since Grace's death, Caroline has run this ball and hell will have to freeze over before she lets Charlene get a toe-hold on it. JMO.

Maybe Caroline is planning a surprise for CW by having some of CW's old London "friends" attend. ;D

sounds like another excuse to get a has been singer to perform whilst trying to pretend to be in the same century as the rest of the world. But Mc is still stuck somewhere in the middle of the last one and refusing to move on. Maybe it will, when all the remnants are dead and they have an empty Sporting club. That should only take another 5 years or so. If MC isn't entirely bankrupt by then.
Maybe they get twiggy. She sings now too.

“Swinging London” Rose ball in Monaco Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover
How does she get to keep the "Royal Highness" title when she is getting divorced? Maybe she will have to remarry one of the Sheikhs so she can keep her title? They are allowed up to 4 official wives. ;D

it's not a title to begin with. It's a fraud. Caroline is obstructing German law by carrying her name as a title and putting an HRH in front. There is no HRH in Germany. We are a democracy. This title is forbidden since the end of WW1

Isn't there a Greek prince who does the same thing?

Isn't there a Greek prince who does the same thing? Yes. Because they are all related to the British crown and of course all the rest of the royal houses of Europe, they still bare the honorific titles although they have no legal meaning. Thus there is no German HRH or Greek HRH legally, but they all use their birth titles outside their home countries. The Greeks in particular were exiled and lived in England where their titles are still accepted. So Caroline using the HRH title outside Germany is considered ok by all the other royals and of course people who want to rub shoulders with an HRH.

they are using the titles in Germany as well. Unfortunately no one dares to enforce the law. I guess if people would start suing Bunte and the likes for falsely using the namelaw, then you might get somewhere. But in fact most people do not know the law and thus they get away with it. In Austria they are much stricter in prosecuting the former royals. Being related to the Brits is no excuse as they are not claiming British titles, but German titles. Caro is not calling herself HRH with regards to the Brits. The Hannovers are not descendants from the Queen. The Queen is a descendant of the house of Hannover. So the correct address of Caro would be Mrs Caroline Prinz von Hannover. German names do not change gender or are being translated. As it is part of the name it remains the same no matter where. Whereas Caro choses to be called Hanovre in MC and France, Hannover in Germany and Hanover in English speaking countries. The only princely title she is legally allowed to use is HSH Princess of MC, but I believe since she has been married 3 times to commoners (and EA is as common as they come), I doubt that she would be allowed to use HSH.

Pete Doherty! Now, that's how you know Trashy is the Princess of Monaco. Last Ball she couldn't make it because Antoinette died. Imagine her frustration by that time, the Casiraghi Trio did a wonderful job. This year, with Pete and Charlene, i think they have won the lottery... hahaha.

Oh paca that's the first thing I thought of was the drugs. It will be a drug fueled event for many. If I'm not mistaken, he's also known in a certain state of mind to get violent and start brawls. So this may tie in with Charlene's Russian boxing. It will be a free for all. Well, all I can say is stay tuned...

OOOUTCH!!! Even BILD can't really believe that it was Albert's wish to invite Pete Doherty BILD turned to the Palace to ask if it is true. Still no reply from the Palace. AND: BILD lets us know that they asked the Palace (read = people are wondering what goes on in Monaco And we want you to know that people are wondering what Albert is smoking) and prints there is no reply = means this could be true. That's a very new way of BILD to write about Monaco. (Remember Charlenes friend Malte reporting and interviewing?) Title: Doherty - who is known for his public scandals - will be the guest of Prince Albert? (plus pic of drunken Pete next to a pic of Albert ) www.bild.de/unterhaltung/leute/pete-doherty/pete-bei-albert-von-monaco-23196326.bild.html
