This is Charlene's first cover of Paris Match in almost a year - after last year's Red cross gala. Recall, Paris Match started the manufacturing of Charlene as the "New Grace" with their first interview of her as soon as she left Turin in Feb 2006. They flew to South Africa to interview her and have been promoting her ever since. The reporter who wrote this story lives in Monaco (well, she did at one time) and clearly she has been given inside information for this article - BUT THERE IS A HUGE MESSAGE THAT COMES ACROSS IN THIS ARTICLE WHERE THERE IS NO ATTEMPT TO HIDE IT - Charlene does what the hell she wants to do and Albert does not do a damn thing about it, but grin and bear it (and oh, send out official messages saying how happy he is and how hard Charlene works! seriously, Charlene has his balls and he is too afraid to ask or even take them back.I'll post the online version of the article in the next post - the full article is not online yet. One Year of Marriage. Charlene, the Independent Princess. She shoves the protocol and makes Albert happy

As we guessed, the palace released the "Official One Year anniversary" photo on July 1, but it wasn't taken on that day. According to Paris Match, the photo was taken on June 15, 2012. Clearly, the palace wanted to distract from the fact that Albert and Charlene was spending their first year anniversary apart. Only, the stupid ignorant sugah loonies bought the photo as indisputable proof that Albert and Charlene are happy and in love - spending their first anniversary together in the palace. When you read the Paris Match article, it is clear, that Charlene does not even live in the country she represents - Monaco - but in La Turbie - where people see her there all the time. Look at this photo, there is no spontaneity, no passion, no tenderness, no chemistry between them, just no nothing, but Charlene trying to strike the right Grace-like pose for the history books - which is all she cares about.

They must live in a time warp because no modern royal tries to project something artificial à la 1950s Hollywood anymore in their mores or fashion style. On the contrary. They're all modern, live less scripted lives and work a tighter, heavier workload. What CC & PA try to portray is a throwback to a false nonchalance about "being independent" when almost all royals work as a family unit nowadays, at least the successful ones. They're stuck in an MGM movie somewhere and IMO only gays love their campiness. (and dragqueenness) ;D

Ok finally, here's the Paris Match article (but the full article in not online now - have to buy the hard copy). Seriously, is it just me and this really is a sugary and promotional article or does this reporter have a hidden (or not so hidden) agenda with this article? Did they purposefully chose a photo of Charlene in Paris for the cover and not one of her in Monaco?
CHARLÈNE FOUND HER PLACE Since her marriage, Monaco has adopted and the princess at your own pace, has adapted.
From our special correspondent Ghislaine Ribeyre July 4, 2012 June 15 in the gallery of Hercules, overlooking the courtyard of the Palace. Married on July 1, 2011, Princess Charlene and Prince Albert II celebrated their wedding in cotton. | Photo Charly Gallo
It looked like a family celebration: a long table in the open air overlooking the Mediterranean, children playing, adults chatting, taking a drink. At La Turbie, village perched above Monaco, the dinners of the association bowler ¬ are famous for their friendliness. On Saturday, June 16, the menu is soupe au pistou ... and a surprise guest: Charlene. Tonight, Prince Albert is visiting Poland, where he attended the Poland-Czech Republic match before flying to the Rio summit 20. The princess who initially had planned to dine at a restaurant in La Turbie with her brother Gareth and his girlfriend Roysin, could not resist this large table warm. At 20 h 45, in his simple tunic and black trousers, she greets the assembly and sat unceremoniously in front of his plate of soup, which she does a lot. She enjoys it so ask for the recipe file to the cook, William, formerly of the Hotel de Paris. In good vegetarian, she listens religiously the long list of essential vegetables, and advice: "The important thing is to simmer well, it's got to sing! "Even when she speaks to adults, the eyes of the young woman is always attracted to children. When the little Stella assigned it celebrates six years, she takes her in his arms for a hug. She then goes to play ball with the kids. Later in the evening, Charlene listening, smiling the guests in chorus sing traditional songs in languages turbiasque, Monaco, Nice, before joining them to sing: "Lasciatemi cantare, con la mano en chitarra ...", the words "L'Italiano" tube Toto Cutugno. At 23 hours, she says goodbye, leaving a meeting conquered. This casual evening has certainly reminded his native South Africa, where we always prefer a good barbecue at a gala dinner. Last month, however, Charlene was already in La Turbie for an evening of barbecue organized by her father, Michael Wittstock, in a cafe on the square.
"OBVIOUSLY CHARLÈNE IS PRESENT AT ALL THE GREAT EVENTS OF MONACO" "The Princess in a village fete! "In Monaco," down ", as they say Turbiasques, two ladies of good society would strangle. They tell a scene, they swear, occurred several times in recent months. The theater: an evening in favor of a good deed, one of these festivals mid-worldly half-crazy with charitable rich people of the Principality. The organizers - it is often women who, in Monaco, President in these festivities - dream to make Charlene presence of the highlight of their evening. Albert had promised to come: the prince, who personally knows almost everyone on the Rock, was difficult to refuse the invitations. To their delight, the ladies did not want to hear from those who advised them to wait for the confirmation of the presence of Charlene alongside her husband. They reported that the Princess would be there and have it engraved on the evening program, provided in the table plan. They were aware that much of the guests would move only to "the" see. Charlene will feel compelled to come, have they reasoned. Hours before the evening, we had to face the facts: she was not coming. The organizers have tried to do well in their haute couture gown, but since then they have joined the chorus of those who lament "never see the princess." Others point to his absence at the last feast of induction of new members of the Monaco Yacht Club, the prestigious institution chaired by Albert, and note that since her marriage a year ago, Charlene did not give a single interview with local press.
To have the best chance of meeting the princess in Monaco, you better be a child, or an athlete. Charlene is obviously present in all major events in Monaco, as the Grand Prix, where she caused a sensation in a print dress or a formula, more local version, the opening of the new market of Condamine, where she and Albert lingered for more than two hours, June 16, before the evening at La Turbie. Otherwise, Charlene is always up for anything that concerns young and small, opening a home visit or a class, June 19, the graduation ceremony of the International School of Monaco. Finally, the former champion makes it a point to attend all that relates to the world of sports, with whom she has kept strong ties. She has invited the Olympic swim team in South Africa to train for the Olympics in Monaco, as it did last summer for his friend, Zimbabwe's Kirsty Coventry.

Did anyone else catch the part that the ;ladies organizing the event were advised not to print Charlene's name as coming as an indication that she has had her name printed as showing up before SEVERAL times and she just didn't show up. Seriously, it really does seem that she does what (and where) the hell she wants to and Albert doesn't or cannot do a damn thing about it.
Also, it seems that the people in Monaco realize that Charlene only wants to do sports and do events with children. I hope these people realize that she is not doing events with children because she really cares about their need - she only cares about the image that she receives from the photos and the adulation she receives from silly women like the sugah loonies who drool over them claiming her God's greatest gift to children.
Recall what Charlene said in one of the many pre-wedding interviews - she is stuck in her ways and will not change - and Albert looking stupidly tried to soften her statement by saying - for the positive.

There is such a lack of chemistry and spontaneity and warmth from these two that the Palace could have hired two models hired for the photograph

Yes, it's true that some people think that they own certain rights and that if they write the name on the program, they can oblige people to do what they want them to do. Still, she is not only insulting those people who try to push her aroun, she also insults those who came specificly to see her. No one in MC would write Caros name on anything without her coming. So obviously there is a way to put people in their place without insulting them....

Has she become a "hire on demand"? Contrary to what the sugah loonies believe, Charlene RARELY attends events in Monaco. It is even more obvious when Albert attends all these events (that he cannot seem to say no to ALONE). Oh please, I hope this was not an attempt to feel sorry for Charlene because people are putting her name on the programs with the hopes of compelling her to attend. Actually, I read the article wrong, I thought theses event organizers already had a confirmation and people were telling them still do not put her name on the program because she has failed to show up at events that she had even confirmed to attend. I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me. But it still doesn't negate the fact that compared to the events Albert attends and the amount of happenings in Monaco, Charlene does not do a lot in Monaco - hence the Paris Match reporter opening the article about Charlene's frequent escapades in La Turbie with all the free loading Wittstocks. Am I the only who sees a hidden agenda? Oh well, I guess Charlene shows all of them who is the REAL BOSS. Only she will decided which events she will attend and it seems when Albert compels her to attend - she pouts at the event. I think the Red Cross picnic was probably one of those compelled to attend events. I guess the alcohol eased the pain of attending the opening of Condamine Market.

I don't know who you think has a hidden agenda. PM, trashy, palace pr? I think trashy wants to establish herself as a down to earth princess who ares for kids, sports etc and goes to village things. I really don't see anything wrong with going to the soup au pistou when you are living in a place and want to get to know the people in your village. I do have a problem though that these exact things are happening in MC as well and she doesn't do it there. Only with announcement. I also don't see a need for her to be at every little thing. A lot of these charity things are only organized so that some people can get Albert to attend and hope to thus gain access. The charity is in most cases secondary if it figures at all. In most cases it is a pretext. Albert is doing too much of it. People should be doing these things even if he doesn't come. BUt you would see a lot less charity if he didn't. Also there is no real control if everything is properly handled. So personally I would not attend all of these things either, but I would chose were I will be seen, but to people who are not paying for it. I would also make clear that people who put my name on a program without my confirmation, can count on me never attending any of their events. And I would make sure that those who pretend to have won me for their cause are outed so that people know that they are impostors.

Good lawd, this woman does not do much in Monaco - things that define the substance of Monaco's culture and its people. June was an anomaly because she attend four times the events in just two weeks than her normal two events a month in Monaco (however, she took two weeks of vacation afterward to rest).
Contrary to the palace recent lie, Charlene does not speak PERFECT French - she speaks NO French and I feel that this inability is steering her away from a lot of events. Even at the rugby event someone had to translate to a kid after Charlene told him twice in English "throw it back" (the ball). She couldn't even communicate a simple command to the people she supposedly love so much - children!
Since Charlene has not and cannot add anything of substance to the life of Monaco (think of Maxima and how involved she gets with her patronage and the causes she supports internationally), she should at least just SHOW UP at events that are dear to the culture and people of the country she represents.
She has not given a single interview to any of the Monaco media since she became Princess, but she has given several interviews to American, Australian, Chinese and the South African media. She needs to stop lying about her French ability and start speaking the language mistakes and all.
Paca, you keep saying that Albert should attend way less events that he does, but Albert does not have the type of social capital that Rainier had and Albert does not have the stand in (himself) that Rainier had to send to events in his place. More importantly, Monaco is not in the prosperous position for him to stop attending events in his country. In tough financial times of budget deficit, strikes, huge cutbacks, loss of tourism, loss of jobs, Monaco cannot afford such an ungrateful choosy ambassador as their Princess. Sorry Paca, but I strongly feel that Charlene's attitude that you are endorsing which Albert seems to support will BACKFIRE on them. Albert and Charlene NEED to be seen and involved in Monaco at this time even more - and definitely not less - especially when these two people already spend way too much time gallivanting around the world for pleasure. Charlene cannot be seen attending fashion show in Paris posing and grinning from ear to ear, but pouting on every photo during a local picnic in Monaco.
Albert can give dozens of statement of lies about how involved Charlene is in Monaco, but it does not make it true - especially among the people of Monaco.

IMO they both need to revise their selection of events to attend. There doesn't seem to be much coordination in anything they do. They need to come together at least once a month, all members and decide on the calendar and who is doing what and why. It really is now that everyone is doing what they want to do and when they want to do it. The BRF coordinate their outings. There is reasoning behind who is doing what and why. Of course each has different interests and will be more present where there is a personal interest, but there are also events that are important to the country or to the family. IMO STeph should have to appear with whole family for NH as it is important to country and family. Same goes for St Devote. The entire family needs to participate. It their family patron and the one of the country. And although Steph does not like the opera, she should be going on NH or at least make a show at the other event for the Monegasques and residents. It should not be her day off. If they want to benefit, they need to make an effort. All of them. Those who do not do anything should not be allowed to benefit. Rainier has been pretty lax about it himself. Maybe he didn't see the need. But there is no disciplie with the Grimaldis and that is their problem. There are no rules. So they all behave like spoilt brats; The only one really being consistent is Caro and on a lower key Elizabeth Ann and Melanie.
In any case I am still not getting who you think has a hidden agenda and what you think it might be. That trashy does what she wants when she wants, is not an agenda, its what she has always done and more so since her wedding. It was to be expected. So maybe I am a bit daft today, but from her part I don't see any agenda. Just normal trashy behaviour.

If those two ever had a coherent plan, then I missed it by a landmark! There's no sense of synchronicity, of teamwork or of complementarity whatsoever. It's a juvenile tug-of-war to see who reigns over the other and you know what? in the meantime, it does absolutely nothing for Monaco. They should have years ago worked out their kinks during their protracted courtship, but they hardly seem to have ever been invested in building anything together. Instead they rely on what other people think for validation and their cue, and when they don't get the answer they wish for, they negate that process too. Utterly wasteful coupling. IMO they both need to revise their selection of events to attend. There doesn't seem to be much coordination in anything they do. They need to come together at least once a month, all members and decide on the calendar and who is doing what and why. Charlene has a plan - to get back at all the bitchy women who shunned her and told her she will never be their princess. She is showing them who is the boss. Please realize, Charlene actually attended all these charity events before she struck gold with Sucker Al and got the ring, tiaras and title. She didn't do any events with kids while she was auditioning for the role - or as her friends stated in glee on her Facebook page when the engagement was announced - Charlene played her cards right and showed all her naysayers. Or as her family and friends constantly say at their headquarters on The royal Fantasies board: She won, Get used to it!
It was always and only about winning for Charlene - why does she need a plan now? She won. Now, she wants everyone to see what happens when you are the winner.
This woman is a bitchy con artist and is striking back at her enemies by doing only what she wants to do. The children gigs help her with the image that she is carving for herself for her own foundation - so now she has no need for any other charity work (except special Olympics which she secured for International recognition for her foundation) - especially the Ladies Lunch.
