This documentary was mentioned by Grimnir in PA's thread in December but I think it deserves its own thread and belongs here as the whole family seems to be involved. This has recently been aired on January 13th 2013 on M6 (French TV): "Zone interdite: Intimité et pouvoir - un an dans la vie du Prince Albert de Monaco" ("Intimacy and power - one year in the life of Prince Albert of Monaco"). You can watch it here on youtube (I don't think that it'll stay there for long so you should be quick if you want to watch it) or here on facebook. I have watched it just a little bit but I read that it should be quite good.

The documentary seems decent, but the part when they talk about Trashy is like watching tragicomedy. It is almost uncomfortable to watch her. The way she moves, act, laughs and talks...sooo annoying. She is trying too hard to appear "close to the people" (whose language she doesn't speak), is loud and obnoxious and come across extremely awkward and phony. She just looks and acts like a fool when in "casual surroundings". That is Charlene #1. The other Charlene comes out in the evenings and official/formal settings. That is Charlene #2. That one is total opposite of Charlene#1...she walks veeery slooowly, her face is frozen with an expression of self-importance, subtle smile, lovingly looking at her husband and putting her head on his shoulder. That is her idea of "dignified and sweeet Princess". There is nothing natural in her bearing...everything looks like an rehearsed act. Funniest thing is to watch her when she forgets to pretend, then she acts again like a fool; laughing with wide open mouth, talking loud, trowing her arms in all directions, walking like a gigantic ape. And her dance! WTF was that??? Such an idiot! It is clear that this woman is emotionally unstable and with behavioral imbalance. The moment, when she said "yes" at the end of the marriage ceremony, clearly shows that that is not a normal woman nor a normal respond. The look in her eyes, the gesture of her head, the way she said those words...one big act in front of cameras for the history books ...and then 30 minutes later crying crocodile tears like she was sentence for an execution. It was interesting to see her around rest of the family "behind the closed doors" when everyone is having pleasant conversations and enjoying each others company, except for Trashy who walks up and down and around all by herself and her mouth open ...or sits at the table like a mummy, staring in empty and occasionally cracking a weird smile for the camera. Bipolaaaar!!!! Weird, awkward, annoying and above everything stupid. I don't even want to comment her answers to the journalist. Bunch of gibberish.....

Her behavior is so strange like a male who tries to act like a female (and I think there are a lot of men who would do a better job than CC ;D ), who is childish, insecure and spoiled. I've never realized how deep her voice really is (not sexy deep as Charlotte's) but she really sounds like a male. I'm sure that she must have doped a lot in her time. CC either has no idea about "normal" behavior because she wasn't educated properly by her parents or is totally insecure or simply has a personality disorder. I had a friend once who didn't have much family just his parents and sister. And they didn't have a big circle of friends neither so he wasn't used to be at big events like weddings or parties. When we were just with a couple of people he was a nice, funny and absolutely "normal" guy but the minute we were at big events he changed completely. He desperately wanted to come across as a cool and easygoing guy and ended up acting awkward and strange. In reality he was so insecure what to do and what to say that he tried to hide that behind big gestures, loud talking, "strange" behavior etc. In the end people were so annoyed by him that they started talking behind his back and making fun of him. And he was a clever guy and realized it of cause and that got him down so much that next time he was even more stressed. Finally he ended up in a vicious circle and stopped attending these kind of events. I see the same kind of strange behavior in CC...

I swear to God CC just knows three words in French: "Oui", "No" and "Merci". After lunch on National Day she cannot even say "Thank you, it was very delicious" (or something like that) to the chef. She just utters a scarcely audible "merci". IMO she's extremely insecure and has no idea what's going on around her and that's why she behaves so strange and often just has a grimace of a smile on her face. It's of course her mistake to still not having learned the language after so many years. Maybe she's just not capable of learning it it's just too much for her three brain cells... But the rest of the family comes across as very sympathetic and easygoing.

I think there is more there than just being insecure. There is something very strange and off with this woman. I think she has bipolar disease or something like that. Her mood swings are way too extreme and change in a matter of few hours. One day she is loud, yelling and laughing at people, acting overjoyed for no reason, grabbing every child she sees, hanging all over Albert...next day she is cold, stiff and with a dead stare in her eyes, acting like a zombi. Sometimes this happen in the same day...in the morning she is Charlene#1, by the evening she transforms into Charlene#2. It is just so strange. IMO she is unstable and extremely awkward person. Does anyone remember the video from her younger days where she was in a procession with other swimmers at some sport event and while everyone else is just walking and waving with one hand Charlene suddenly, without any particular reason, starts jumping up and down, laughing like a crazy person and trowing her hands in the air. Just weird!!!!

Just weird!!!! Diplomatically I should say she is a fish out of water. More specifically, Taz hit the nail on the head. She has absolutely no social skills what so ever. Her whole life experience was in the pool and locker rooms, and athletic events so her mannerisms and speech reflect that environment. In her case it's like the TV series Downton Abbey. She's the cook's assistant Daisy who some how managed to marry the prince. She is totally inappropriate and out of place. Call me snob if you will but that's just the way I see it. Some of the sugars put her in the same class as Kate Middleton -- far from it. Kate may be quote "middle class" to some but here I am not a snob. Kate manages quite well and is actually in love with her husband and thus far, we would have heard by now from people at events she's attended whether or not she can connect with people. Aside from the Kate haters, not a word as far as I have read. JMO

You know, we've all had our self-conscious moments. I think she's overreaching with no safety net and is coming across erratic because of a degree of despair brought on by a crude background where she was probably too busy competing with boys to allow herself to be vulnerable and nurtured, therefore having no tools to cope. I see someone who's so far out there that no one truly understands what she's doing, including her. Her impulse might be to transcend her original condition but once she got there, no one embraced her because she is so different and everyone waits to see what she has to bring. That's the lynchpin, she didn't think she had to bring something to the table, other than the self she wants people to blindly accept.
I'm stopping short of calling her crazy because as a general rule, I don't like to see any underdog completely savaged for having gone on a tangent. I'll concede I have had embarrassing moments too though in my defense they are from childhood, when I once had a meltdown at my first communion when my father wanted me to eat a piece of cake that some boy I grew up didn't finish. I also had the most humiliating fit of hysterical laughter in class once when my turn came to recite something and I pretended the brainy boy who I had a crush on, had brought on my laughter when actually, I was miserable that he seemed to get along with my friend instead just before my turn.
In those moments, no one understands that what should be your shining moment is jeopardized by something you hadn't seen coming that threw you off. So, I'm going to give CC a pass on this though at her age, I had the wisdom to not make a display of myself or talked about my nerves with someone before exposing myself to ridicule. You have to learn to lean on people so they can make you realize that it's going to be okay. I'm stepping down from my pulpit now.

I laughed too much at the scene, when Andrea talks to Albert, you can see Charlene walking two times in front of the camera (At 5:20). Ah and when Andrea touched Alberts arm, the look Albert gives "don´t touch me, it´s a real uniform, I bought it at Toys´r´us" XD

BTW, did anyone get to the bit about Albert and his lack of computers? What was it that he had against the internet?

Don’t remember the internet. This is what I remember…
The documentary shows especially Albert (little family and certainly little CC – more friends an staff and the secretaresse of Albert). Albert at the major events a Monaco as the formula 1 Grand Prix, the Red Cross ball, working meetings, official travel… and a night at the No finish Line.
National Holiday is intéressant because the family is waiting at the window – and then comes Charlene in the room with security personnel? Albert is in the Palace without security… (Refia is this the same moment?)
NH lunch – the only thing I still know is that the dessert is dedicated to Princess Grace (the dessert looks ridiculous - Albert’s idea). And that the dessert chef greets Charlene - she respond as usual.
Anyone remembers the picture of Charlene in evening dress as she is setting the table in the Palace? ('To Chath a Prince' ??). Well every documentary you see now you see Palace employees setting the table… LOL
The Red Cross ball - Albert goes alone to the preparations in the afternoon (no CC). She only comes at night when pictures are taken. The documentary shows at no time the couple ‘husband and wife’. A mini interview where she ask Charlene the questions ‘are you happy to be together now’ – she respond as usual. (The documentary was recorded between 2011 and 2013).
The documentary shows that they are together only for international events / photo shoots. JMO
The Picnic shows much more of the reality that MC living is. Very beautiful! Unfortunately noting about the tens of thousands of workers who come from the neighboring communes…
I love the Palaces-archives where you see drawings from the child ‘Albert’ for is mother Princess Grace. And the tour in the SBM wine cellar located under the Hotel the Paris, where the head sommelier opened up a bottle of wine for the new presenter of Zone Interdite.
Karma Taz!

I missed the part about the Internet but it makes perfect sense because you are traced on it worse than on Monaco's camera system, and the risk to be pirated (no pun intended...) could bring a country down IMO. The picnic looked good indeed, that chick pea galette looks very appetizing. I love chick peas. I also loved his wood block art. The poem to Grace was lovely as was the little garland of flowers around it. The archives are definitely where you'd find me (trying to steal the original constitution so I could lay claim to Monaco) It's all a bit formal and I don't think he should seat ambassadors on a girly couch with him because if they're all like the Brit, they'd probably prefer to stand than be part of a romantic vision. The limp penis dessert was ridiculous and unmanageable. His secretary is nice but too pretty, she'd be relegated to archives under my reign though no, I'd be there too often...where would I not go? Ah yes, the casino. She could be made boss there. And maybe told that an Hermes multicolour bangle with a pink Chopard floating heart ring is a teeny weeny overkill on the bling. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like her. Meanwhile what is wrong with the PM's dental hygiene??? That Roger dude either has a gum infection or severe digestive issues. I'm sorry. The enamel of his teeth and drool in corners of his mouth are too much. Please see a doctor, ASAP. Either the kidneys or liver IMO. I didn't like Albert's oversensitivity and facial expression at Andrea at the balcony thing. It was very old queen ready to bite his head off when it was a mark of affection albeit a bit awkward after the fact, but Albert should have been more of a mensch IMO. That's it. I missed quite a few things getting up. I did see the Brittany guy tell him he was born on the wrong side, which gave Albert a candid expression.

refia, sorry to butt in but I wish you hadn't highlighted that moment with Andrea. It was right at the beginning of the show and IMO very offputting about the premise of the show which was to show Albert's humanity. It's upsetting to watch the lack of solidarity between Albert and Andrea when you don't see this kind of thing with Pierre. You don't have to like everyone the same but there's a heartwrenching harshness at the hint of rejection. I can't look, it's too painful. I hope this was just a case of nerves and that Albert is able to have the same complicity with Andrea without making Andrea beg for it. This is not a shining moment for Albert in my book. Absolutely the contrary. I may not like my nieces and nephews equally, but if they came to me with a gentle touch - let's face it, Andrea didn't punch him in the arm - I don't think I'd muster a cold shoulder. (thanks Refia )

This whole documentary is an imitation of the one done of the Queen of England. The whole thing is ridiculous and makes Albert look ridiculous, but then the whole world knows this anyway. What a waste of Monaco's money. This will not increase tourism. It's completely self-indulgence. JMO.

agentf, I edited my post, because I can understand your point. I don´t think very high of Albert, but this realy baffled me and imo he is an ass. Btw isn´t Albert the one who touches and grabs people, especially women?
