A thread about Charlenes dresses for the religious and civil wedding. www.people.com/people/article/0,,20458384,00.html Armani Designing Wedding Dress for Royals of MonacoBy Peter Mikelbank Monday January 17, 2011 04:30 PM EST While royal watchers wonder who will make Kate Middleton's wedding dress, the designer of another royal gown has made his intentions known. Giorgio Armani will dress Charlene Wittstock for her wedding to Monaco's Prince Albert II (the son of the late Grace Kelly and the late Rainer III, Prince of Monaco), the couturier has announced. According to several Italian newspapers, Armani spoke directly to reporters after his men's fashion collection in Milan on Sunday. "Yes, I want to declare, I will make the wedding dress," he confirmed. The 76-year-old designer, who has befriended Wittstock, was thought to have the inside track to outfit her when she weds Prince Albert this July. She has attended Armani's shows in Italy in 2008 and 2009 and has consistently shown a preference for the designer's sophisticated stylings. In 2010, she wore a gown by Armani to Monaco's Rose Ball Gala and, more recently, the princess-to-be wore Armani Privé at Monaco's National Day, November 24. As for the wedding dress, Armani gave no hint of the design, according to reports. Still, the finished product will no doubt be compared to Grace Kelly's celebrated 1956 gown. That piece, a present to the film actress from MGM, was designed by studio wardrobe costumer Helen Rose and featured antique Valenciennes rose point lace, 25 yards of silk taffeta and 98 yards of tulle. Topping off the look? Her lace wedding veil, accented by appliqué lovebird designs and thousands of seed pearls. AdminNote: Changed the title of thread to be more specific of topic of discussion

I really hope Armani makes a decent wedding dress. Not too fluffy. It would look ridiculous.

Wedding dress for Trashelene... ;D Honestly, who cares. Seriously, she looks so manly and harsh that any dress would look horrible on her. She is such a waste of money and resources.

OMG, that's hilarious Refia! But, I'm sure Conlene will have something more form fitting to show off what she believes is her perfect figure.

Hahhaa, refia, that is so hilarious!! Haha, imagine how ridiculous would look The Bitchstock in a dress similar to Diana's. I so want to see her wedding gown...who knows, maybe the gown is pretty and elegant, but she will totally ruin it with her manly figure.

Below is an article in London's Telegraph that hints at what I'm sure some others are thinking - has Charelne dumped Armani for her wedding gown. I know I think so. Conlene wants to be a major international superstar and be known as the Princess of Fashion. She really feels that her wedding gown is going to shoot her into stardom and usher her into history as a fashion icon. Charlene will dump and use anyone who she feels that will deliver her what she wants - and it seems that Armani is not it. Also, what the reporter doesn't realize, as a known ambassador for Armani, Chalrene snubbed Armnai as soon as she got the ring - starting with the Akris engagement gown and using Dior and Akris on her Japan and Ireland respectively official and state. When will people realize the truth about this con artist? What does Charlene have to do for them to see her true vile, vulgar and self-absorbed nature? Royal wedding: Charlene Wittstock gives Giorgio Armani the jitters Will Giorgio Armani still make Charlene Wittstock's bridal gown when she marries Prince Albert of Monaco after she rejected his outfits for Prince William's wedding? By Tim Walker 4 May 2011
While Kate Middleton’s wedding was a great success for Sarah Burton, who designed her dress, it will have been the cause of some concern for Giorgio Armani.
Charlene Wittstock the fiancée of Prince Albert of Monaco, chose to wear an outfit by Akris, the Swiss label at the royal wedding, even though she is known as an “ambassador” for Armani.
The Italian said he would make the bridal gown for Wittstock, who will marry in July, but who knows?

No loyalty - she forgot who helped her on the way up!
She may need them on the way down one day!

No loyalty - she forgot who helped her on the way up! She may need them on the way down one day! Armani will not need her on her way down. I wonder if he might not fire her and refuse to design the gown. It could be one of those shootouts. I bet you Karl L. has somehow gotten into it somewhere.

I think the dress for the ceremony will be Lagerfeld hence his interest in the British wedding ( I don't remember him doing any commenting on previous royal weddings) and Armani will be doing one for the evening or maybe the civil ceremony. I think she will be sporting at least 3 different outfits.

I think she will be sporting at least 3 different outfits. I agree Paca! Also, Karl's photo shoot of Albert and Charlene and his several public statements extorting Charlene is a giveaway that he is involved some how. There are at least four opportunities on the two wedding days alone for Charlene to make her fashion statement to the world - civil wedding dress, evening dress after the civil ceremony, religious wedding gown and a gown for the wedding dinner. Trust me, Charlene Wittstock wants to make herself known as a fashion icon - the Princess of Fashion - as her friends coined the phrase on her Facebook. What better way to do this than to have at least FOUR different top designers to design haute couture outfits specifically for you. Remember, unlike any other European royals, Charlene doesn't have to answer to the public about her extravagant spending on clothes. More importantly, she has an unlimited budget not just because Albert has the money but because Albert and the morons who advise him have decided that dressing Conlene in the most extensive and expensive attires will boost Monaco's image and attract tourists to Monaco. Promoting Charlene as the "New Grace" and the flagship of Monaco is so terribly sad. The morons in Monaco have no idea just how stupid and shallow they sow themselves to be with this eventually very destructive strategy.

And if she spends too much, you can be sure that the Monegasques will make their disapproval understood.

Will there be more dresses? I bet we will see her in more than 2 dresses the days. One for the Eagle's concert on June 30. One for the civil, balcony appearance and Buffet dinner on July 1st. One for that evening concert after the religious ceremony on July 1st. One for the Religious on July 2nd. One for the reception at the Casino after the religious One for the picnic thing on the 3rd. One for the SA party. So...that's 7. 7 dresses. I'm betting 7. One by Armani (religious?), and at least one by Akris (civil? She seems fond of Akirs lately). Maybe one by Isabell Kristensen?

Akris definately. Armani i'm begining to doubt, but it will be sure her bet for the religious ceremony. It will be a delight to see her wearing all those beautiful dresses - and see how she destroys them with that body she has.

Here's my thought: Eagle concert: anyone's game. July 1st Daytime (civil ceremony, balcony appearance, & dinner-no time to change in between!): Dior that evening concert July 1:Akris Religious on July 2nd:Armani reception at the Casino after the religious:Isabell Kristensen One for the picnic thing on the 3rd: No idea One for the SA party: not a clue
Maybe she'll pick more than one outfit from Dior, Akris, Armani and Kristensen or pick some unknown designer and "make them" (The Michelle Obama's inaugural ball gown...)

Promoting Charlene as the "New Grace" and the flagship of Monaco is so terribly sad. The morons in Monaco have no idea just how stupid and shallow they sow themselves to be with this eventually very destructive strategy. Uf he is Karl is stupid to want to be associated to Charlene (he is smart enough to know what she's like), plus she is not Kate--people do not care for her, if they could be bothered to recognize her. If Albert had married someone else that people could like and Albert had not made himself look like some juvenile retard by dating this moron then Karl would probably be the obvious choice for a bride of Monaco, but Charlene who was an ambassador for Armani or was meant to be--maybe they stopped that before when they saw Charlene wasn't helping them any? Really, who wants to be associated to this cheap tacky Chartard! I am not supporting anyone or anything that would support this girl. Charlene is not going to be liked in New York either at this rate, not that she would normally but they would maybe have otherwise just ignored her--she may be targeted if she keeps pissing off designers and people of the fashion world, when she is a big zero nobody. Although if they are already calling her out and making digs about her, that could be a lot of fun! That article did not just hide a little dig in the copy-- they made the choice to insult her in the headline! Lets she what the same people have to say about her on the day of her wedding. I so hope this backfires for Albert and the palace--the only reason she is there is because they thought they could turn her into some fashion icon, but it sounds like they are already sharpening their knives before she has walked down the aisle. This girl has no idea what she is in for. She thinks Albert's money is going to protect her--she is use to getting the sugar board treatment, so is Albert.
