i think i mentioned this in the other p.r. thread but the p.r. flunkies have no clue what an audience is and who the audience is for this debacle of a couple -- well, i believe there isn't one [see other thread] so it follows their media campaign is all over the place as is their street fair wedding plans. fortunate for kate and wills their target audience transcends because of the diana connection. i'm sure the older generation who were fans of Princess Grace are probably appalled at Albert's choice of such a young, dumb, plastic surgery created wife.

The young crowd is not going to follow her either because they have so many others to choose from in the celebrity world, including of course Princess Beatrice and Eugene, Milli Cyrus and so forth. On a higher note they could aim for Victoria Beckham?

Since my RSS exploded this morning with stories about the British counterpart... the dress is a major PR fail.
You do NOT tell people anything about the wedding dress. That's supposed to be the one big secret - the designer, the style, the length of the train... all that's known is that it's most likely going to be white. Anything else is the big mystery about the bride, and it's what guarantess that "oooh" (or "OMGWTF") moment when she shows up.
Hundreds of articles speculated on the dress of Victoria. Thousands speculate about that of Kate. Because nobody knew/knows for sure until the wedding day who'd be the designer and what style they would/will be wearing.
Monaco? They told us about that dress in, what was it, September? Minimal excitement about it because the wedding was still so far off that nobody cared, and it's fizzled out completely. And Charlene is so fixated on one style of dress that it's not hard to guess what it's going to look like. What a waste of a good opportunity!

And Charlene is so fixated on one style of dress that it's not hard to guess what it's going to look like. What a waste of a good opportunity! Chriss, actually Armani stated that he was designing Charlene's wedding gown in JULY 2010 - just days after the announcement! Armani gave an interview with Le Monde (a world renowned serious news paper) and announced it. Charlene called Armani immediately after the announcement and asked him to designed her dress. Also, recall even Charlene and her mom were discussing her mom's dress just days after the announcement. This is all this woman cares about - what she looks like - and she always thinks she looks good! Her new extensive and expensive designer wardrobe are her pride and joy. She can't wait to read all her glowing reviews on the message boards. She really believes that she is the Princess of Fashion.

Here's the list that I had started on 16 Match 2011 at RD of all their PR flops. Of course, there's more to add, but I started the list in response to people thinking that the wedding will be canceled because so far they haven't gotten the results that they expected: To call it off, Albert, his psychophantic advisors and the Monaco media will have to admit that they were wrong - won't happen! These fools have invested too much in Charlene and this wedding to do that. These clowns are like people walking down a road and they see a sign that let them know that they are going in the wrong direction, but they choose to ignore it hoping that the sign is wrong. Thus, they decide to walk even faster hoping to get there sooner and prove the signs wrong. Eventually, they see another sign telling them that they are going in the wrong direction - they still ignore it and put more energy and resources to get there faster by buying a car. Albert and Monaco were led to believe that Charlene is the new Grace and that this wedding will revitalize Monaco's economy and attract tourists. Every prediction that they have made about this wedding has failed yet Albert and Monaco have continued in this direction just doubling their effort: 1. The day of the engagement announcement, Albert's media advisor predicted that Albert's wedding will make the world forget their troubles Result: BIG FLOP! After the first day of news, the world could care less. Furthermore, every place (or person) Albert visited since then have experienced more economical and political troubles (Japan, Tunisia, Lebanon, Egypt, watch out Ireland - Albert and Charlene will be there next month! 2. The week of the announcement, Bunte’s editor wrote that Albert and Charlene look like a wax couple who doesn’t exude neither happiness or love. Other serious news magazines wrote that albert is only marrying to boost Monaco’s image and failing economy. Result: BIG FLOP! Neither Albert nor Charlene has mentioned the word love to describe each other or their wedding. Albert even stated that Charlene is NOT his soul mate and he is marrying her because they get along and he is comfortable with her – so it is a good reason to get married AT THIS MOMENT. 3. Monaco's Director of Tourism predicted that tourism will drastically increase leading up to the wedding with an expected 1500 journalists flocking to cover the wedding and tens of thousands of tourists to watch. They established special hotel packages for tourists during the week of the wedding. Result: BIG FLOP! Tourism actually decreased the second half of 2010 after the announcement (but Monaco's Director of Tourism won't admit this). At he last report, the director stated that none of the special rooms were reserved. 4. Interview by PPDA of Charlene and Albert Result: BIG FLOP! Nobody watched and those that did realize that the Albert only thinks (not know for sure) that Charlene is the woman for him and Charlene is a complete dimwit who hasn't learned French after four years. It was so bad that the palace provided another interview to be published the morning after the PPDA interview aired.5. Tatler interview and photo shoot of Charlene featuring scenes throughout the palace - with the hopes of promoting Charlene as the "New Grace" and also promoting the palace since it's the site of the wedding. Result: BIG FLOP! The "world" found out that Charlene believes Monaco social elites are "jealous" of her, she only has two friends in Monaco, she wants to modernize the country with a Starbuck and a Manolo Blahnik show store AND she thinks the palace is in disrepair and she cannot wiat to give it a woman's touch and totally redecorate it! One Spanish editor called the entire feature pretentious. 6. After the engagement, Charlene and Albert went to England and America and sough out the media (two markets that Monaco tourism stated that they want to attract). Result: BIG FLOP! Nobody cared. 7. Wedding info placed on the palace website with photos of Charlene and Albert throughout the last four years. Result: BIG FLOP! Nobody cared (based on website stats).8. Famed director hired as wedding production manager and he proclaimed that this will be the wedding of the century Results: BIG FLOP! A few weeks later William and Kate announced their engagement and the world has been interested in it since then – and nobody cares about Albert nd Charlene wedding, but the mags that Monaco paid for ads.9. Official visit with Charlene to Japan accompanied by Paris Match journalists, and production crew Result: BIG FLOP! Beside the cover story with Paris Match, most other media just treated this as any other event with a cursory photos.10. Famed director stated that Charlene’s presence at the balcony during National Day will be a preliminary view of the "wedding of the century." Result: BIG FLOP! Even after Albert and the Monaco media begged people to come out to greet Future Princess Charlene at the balcony on National day, the palace square included mostly the invited guest from the mass. 11. The palace announce the television fees to broadcast the “wedding of the century” with dfess over a half million dollars to France, but lower fees for the U.S. They announce that the fees will be directed to Albert’s foundation and the future Princess Charlene Foundation to benefit children. Result: BIG FLOP! France TV station balked at the exorbitant fee and refused to pay it. The palace doesn’t budge at first stating that they will pay it once it gets closer to the wedding. France TV laughs and still say no, especially since Will and Kate’s wedding is free. The palace gets a reality check after no one else inquire about paying the fee and reduces the fees to $0.12. Charlene does a much talked about trip to South Africa to swim for charity and promote the Special Olympics. Result: BIG FLOP! Accompanied by her body guards, court reporter, photographer, documentary production team, administrative staff, and publicity team, Charlene’s trip yield $2000 for Special Olympics (the other money she brough with her donated by people from Monaco). During the visit Charlene did interviews with the Benoni City Times, pool of journalist at the girls school, pool of journalist at Midmar mile, YOU magazine, Talk Radio702, and Carte Blanche. The South Africa media covered her visit with cursory stories and no follow-up coverage past the week. YOU magazine did not place her on their cover and only one caller called in to Talk Radio 702 to ask Charlene is she going to Will and Kate’s wedding.13. Monaco govt is doing a special promotion “sharing the love with the world” for hotel packages and road shows to attract tourist – including a special website for the wedding Result: Let’s see what the tourism numbers look like from January until June 30th. My bet – no one will care! A Zurich journalist mocked the road show presentation done in its town. 14. The palace created a special wedding website with this message on its front page: "This site was designed to allow members of the Press who wish to request accreditation for the ceremonies and festivities of the wedding of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and Miss Charlene Wittstock to have the necessary information and documents."Result: BIG FLOP! Clearly, the site's traffic was not doing so well since now the palace has redesigned its home page website as strictly an advertisement for this trashy tacky made-for-tv wedding. 15. A documentary about behind the scenes preparation for the wedding was aired on France TF116 April 2011. Result: BIG FLOP! Besides not being able to look at the preview of the video, I have not found one single news article discussing the documentary.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! OH SNAP!!!! One of the stories I read on Kate's dress was that she loved Grace's dress. Then there is Ivanka Trump's dress --- she also admired Grace's dress. Charlene is in a catch 22. If Armani designs a dress like Grace's she'll have another PR failure. If he doesn't people are going to wonder why not? Just a thought

Never fear, RWW sufferers - help has arrived, in the form of one of the world's richest countries, Monaco. On July 1 2011, the principality will celebrate the nuptials of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II and elegant South African Olympic swimmer Miss Charlene Wittstock. Okay, so it's not *quite* the same. He's the son of Grace Kelley and Prince Rainier III, but the once devoted bachelor prince is in his 50s and has two illegitmate children, neither of whom can inherit the title as per Monaco's inheritance laws Was this put out by HIS PR people! Couldn't have been!!! It's horrible! Unbelievable! This can't be their way of promoting this stupid wedding! If their PR people put this out and they were my PR team -I'd scream at them so loudly I'd be heard all the way over to Easter Island!

Here's one I hadn't seen www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/prince-albert-and-his-women-2011502.htmlI loved the section: Prince Albert seems to have taken to heart the adage that the perfect relationship for a man consists in a partner half his age plus seven years. He wavers from this ratio only occasionally and never to a very great degree. The 52-year-old offspring of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III of Monaco has spent most of his adult life testing the formula, and then enthusiastically retesting it with some of the world's most attractive actresses and models. In each case they came close to the magic number: Naomi Campbell (half his age plus seven), Claudia Schiffer (half his age plus six), Gwyneth Paltrow (half his age plus six) and Brooke Shields (half his age plus eight) are but a few among many. [......] Fortunately, she [Charlene] too, it seems, is as near as dammit to the magic ratio: the South African is just one year off the mark, at half Albert's age plus six years. From the comments section: You've forgotten the other part of the formula surely... (man of x years) + (woman of (x years /2) + 7) + ('man's wealth' > £10m) = (woman agrees to ignore x years ).

Another PR-fail!!! According to the German "7 Tage" (title - "How embarressing! Almost each day a new pr fail in Monaco!") they changed the location of the dinner from Oceanographic museum to the Opera/ Casino. ... for logistic reasons (=not enough guests to fill the museum?). The evening location was already printed in the invitations says the article.
And 7 Tage listed some of the previous PR-fails including the many date changes.
The article ends with: Monaco insiders say that untill July many things can be changed yet...

biggest PR fail is the tranny bride and the total disinterest (despite their "look at us" tour this summer >remember Graceland fiasco) in US media leave it to FaTAl to pick the summer of a real royal wedding....if i didn't know what a d-bag he was i'd almost feel sorry for him

The Grace Kelly expo (started in 2007 (!) in Monaco) has now reached Brazil. Just ponder that for a minute. A country still living off and promoting itself by means of a princess deceased for more than 25 years. That expo has, in different shapes and sizes, visited every continent except the south pole.
Isn't the biggest wedding PR fail that it's still all about princess Grace? CW as the new Grace : she is apparently nothing so it's not the new princess of Monaco or the wife of the prince but the new Grace - a clone, not cw as an entity herself. The better/bigger wedding than Rainier and Grace's wedding: not a union of two people in love (well, because they aren't) or the wedding of the prince with his fiancée.
It's a wedding PR fail because they are not promoting this wedding and these people. It's never the wedding of the human being called Albert Grimaldi with the human being called Charlene. If one or both of them would be replaced, the pr would be exactly the same. At best they are promoting someone else in another time and place. It's a wedding PR fail because they are promoting nothing, they are promoting something that doesn't physically exist, something gas-like or ghost-like, an idea or an echo of the past.
Somehow it bothers me. It feels wrong. It's disturbing even. I had an idea and a feeling and - as always- I couldn't properly write it down. Sorry, I hope you got the idea.
