I love a fly-by! Such skill from those pilots, especially the "7 0" formation. I hope it energizes HM and that she has a great time π

Another hurdle passed with flying colours. Yesterday's TtC and balcony went without a hitch, despite H&M's desperate gesticulations with Zara T's children so they could be noticed at the window. Today the quietude was ensured for Charles but mostly William, by sending Harry to the Siberian part of the pews. I liked Kate's butter yellow outfit but I noticed monochromatic was the general mot d'ordre. www.parismatch.com/Royal-Blog/Jubile-d-Elizabeth-II-Kate-Middleton-et-William-a-la-messe-1809726#13I thought it was great that pride of place went to Margaret's family; that Andrew suddenly developed Covid; and that the crowds did let H&M know how they really felt. Otherwise, I'm having sympathy fatigue with my bestie, after a Covid shot & blood donation π©. Actually, I'm sure she feels better than I do right now. π» PS: I thought it was funny that Kim Kardashian got turned away - twice! After her comments about eating feces, she should continue trying her luck with other more Eastern royalty π

The Paddington intro!!! π A marmalade sandwich is the answer to the forever enigma of what exactly is in HM's black purse - perfect! π That was good. And the dinging of the china to "We will we will rock you" , forget James Bond, this was epic. Bravo!

At last! Enough with the block colours and in with the anti-monochrome! Even if it was tone on tone. The best matching couple goes to the ebullient Tindalls ππΌππΌ Couples who coordinate are in for the long run. (That's the only Cosmo quip that ever stuck with me). Sophie's hat gets my favourite award. www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-10915643/Royals-turn-force-Royal-Ascot-Queen-misses-out.htmlAnd congratulations to Shadwell Stud for winning 1st place with their horse Baaeed, in the Queen Anne Stakes ππΌ

Ascot is wrapping up, I think. Bravo to Sophie for the break with the ever-present stilettos with pointy toes. I loved her two-tone Mary-Janes with interesting heel that she paired with a textured, ruched dress. She gets the innovation award. Anne was lovely in that burnished hue, a light copper in her go-to raw silk which never fails. Zara gets the fun award, with the crazy boater & pink buttons, and the above look. She gets the popular award. Kate was utterly refreshing in the (albeit reprised) polka dots. It was a nice hommage and something Beatrice also did a twist on today. She gets the fresh award. Lady Sarah Chatto is a vision of creaminess, but anachromatic. It's quintessentially English but I would have gone for a hat not worn so recently, unless she intended to tie it in to the image gone around the world but I doubt she's an attention-seeker. I would hit up Anne. The Duke of Kent gets the trooper award. He's a total Duracell bunny. That's about it. www.harpersbazaar.com/celebrity/latest/g40285748/royal-family-first-day-royal-ascot-fashion-outfits/

Ever on a high note, HM's departure is being beautifully rolled out and through motions that seem to cushion everyone's despondence. I had to go get a new jade roller to depuff my poor face. Reading the Royalist regarding the new king's speech, I do hope he was referring to Song for Athene and NOT Hamlet π¨ with the use of the words "May Flights of Angels Sing Thee to Thy Rest". Which would be an indirect reference also to his 1st wife and children's mother for who Song for Athene was played at her funeral. Anything but Hamlet, please! www.thedailybeast.com/king-charles-iii-expresses-his-love-for-harry-and-meghan-vows-to-serve-like-queen-elizabethI'll come back another time to draw the contrast between the spelled out titles and subsequent absence of, in the same speech. I'm too wiped.

Speaking of blackmail... First, if people can't realize the difference between fiction and real life, good riddance!! Who cares about Netflix? They lost so many hundreds of thousands of users. Call for a boycott or sue them. Or finance a counter-production that vilifies unimaginative slanderous cable entertainment executives who spew garbage and rope in impressionable greedy princes to help them get under the skin of the apparent powerful. Just don't whine. www.thedailybeast.com/the-crown-is-malicious-fiction-says-former-british-prime-minister-john-major

An amendment to the Counsellors of State was raised in the House of Lords, apparently initiated by HM before she passed: www.thedailybeast.com/prince-andrew-and-prince-harry-wont-stand-in-for-king-charles-under-new-rulesI think on one hand it's unfortunate to have to burden the working royals with picking up the slack for others after already having stepped up, but then again no one but a working royal is more qualified to step in. When a person is derelict in their duty, how long should you wait after them...? It'll be a tough pill to swallow but it's the right thing.

Apparently this is called a York omelette. Sales of fine British wool went up after KC's bespoke Kingsmen-suit deflected the incoming projectile π

A few faux pas in a rough start to the new reign... Camilla's white dress is a bit of esprit d'escalier at Kate's white evening gown. Displaying Dumfries House is a bit of in-your-face PR, when there's been financing scandals that caused one public firing. And now, QE2's aide that should have probably been retired Γ la Angela Kelly. www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-11487997/RICHARD-KAY-Lady-Susan-Hussey-mortified-causing-offence-remarks.htmlWhile I myself have been asked in Quebec city of all places (which my mom's family built pretty much, and are credited with a UNESCO plaque), at university no less, about my origins by someone who probably thought most Montrealers are from elsewhere, I think these types of icebreakers belong to the narrow-minded. Ultimately though, one hopes, is that the idea is to find something to build a conversation on or seek some common experience. I personally always suppress my curiosity until the next person volunteers a clue they want to talk about anything that pertains to something external to our purpose for meeting. But at 80, I probably would lose some filters and safeguards with my patience. What can you do.
