Prince William Turns 29
By Simon Perry
Tuesday June 21, 2011 10:15 AM EDT Prince William Turns 29
He's celebrated his birthdays in the grand surroundings of Windsor Castle, and had surprise dinner parties organized by Kate during their courtship. So, what's in store for Prince William's first birthday as a married man?
William turned 29 Tuesday, and is spending it quietly in his new home of Anglesey, North Wales. Described as a "normal working week" for him, the Prince will be on duty as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.
For William and Kate, also 29, it is an important moment, regardless. "The past two months have been a very significant time in their lives, and ending this period with a Tour of Canada – a country so close to the Royal Family's heart – is truly fitting," the couple's private secretary says.
Meanwhile, Kate's putting her finishing touches to some of her plans, including her clothing that she'll need for 11 days of engagements in North America. Royal officials say she may be striking "private agreements" with designers to help build her tour wardrobe.
A spokesman for the couple adds that the Duchess "has a policy not to accept any free offers of clothing. We would never discuss the prices paid for individual items – these will remain private between the Duchess and the designers. She will not receive any special clothing budget for the Canada and California tour."

Kate Middleton learning French for Quebec visit with Prince William by Victoria Murphy, Daily Mirror 23/06/2011

The Duchess of Cambridge will prove she has that certain “je ne sais quoi” – by wowing French speakers with the royal oui.
Kate has gone on a crash course to brush up on the language in time for her visit to Quebec with Prince William.
They will spend two days in the French-speaking province in Canada as part of their tour of North America. Advertisement >>
Sources say Kate embarked on her “merci mission” to make a good impression on her first major royal trip.
An insider said yesterday: “This is a big occasion and Kate is busy preparing. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes into getting ready for a tour and Kate doesn’t want to leave anything to chance.
“She and William already have some knowledge of French but they are keen to brush up as much as possible before they go. She is also learning about the places they will visit and the people and organisations they will meet. There is a lot to take in.”
Kate has been swotting up with help from a team on both sides of the Atlantic including adviser Sir David Manning.
Wills and Kate, both 29, will say au revoir to Britain next Thursday when they leave for their 10-day tour of Canada and the US.
They hope their French skills mean the Canadians will wish them a bon voyage – though Quebec has been hostile to royals in the past.
Hundreds of protesters booed the Queen when she visited the province with Prince Philip in 1964.
While Prince Charles and Camilla’s trip in 2009 was marred when nationalists clashed with riot police. www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2011/06/23/kate-middleton-learning-french-for-quebec-visit-with-prince-william-115875-23220444/#ixzz1Q4cZk52b

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge leave for Canada tourWearing matching navy blue outfits, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge board a Royal Canadian Air Force plane at London's Heathrow Airport bound for Ottawa. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/prince-william/8608379/Prince-William-and-Kate-Middleton-leave-for-Canada-royal-tour.htmlThere's a video of them boarding in the C-150 Polaris with take off. As members of the Canadian Royal Family, it is normally customary that they travel onboard Canadian Forces VIP aircraft from 437 Squadron (CC-150 Polaris) or 412 Squadron (CC-144 Challenger) or helicopters from 1 Wing while undertaking official duties on behalf of the Crown.

I like these two! And she can cook! Kate serves up a treat as she reveals her talent in the kitchen... but should William stick to the day job? Kate and William prepared a series of dishes at a cookery class Met by separatist protesters in Quebec objecting to the Royal visit Visited children in a cancer ward in Montreal The Duchess showed how she digs Canada after tree planting Until now Prince William’s only culinary boast has been that he makes a mean shepherd’s pie. After 40 minutes in a Canadian cookery school however, it was herb and cranberry-crusted lamb and croustillant a l’effiloche de canard confit – and a distinctly competitive attitude to his lobster soufflé. The Prince and the Duchess of Cambridge, dressed in personalised chef's whites, were taking part in a cookery demonstration at Montreal’s top chef school, the Institut de tourisme et d’hotellerie du Quebec. Although they were greeted by a noisy demonstration by Quebec separatists, the Prince did not let that distract from the main task in hand – proving that he was a better cook than his host, Quebec Premier Jean Charest. ;D Quote:So what does the ascendance of Waity Katie Price and Prince André mean for us? Simply this: that we will not be spared a minute from the most minute Royal goings-on from now on. They spawn, we must gasp and murmur; they fart, we'll all genuflect. It would be practically medieval were it not for the obvious inspiration that the royal couple have taken from reality TV culture. Mark my words, Kate and Wills have been studying Heat and OK! as if they were the Dead Sea Scrolls. And here's what they've learned. Lesson one: cultivate a will they/won't they romance. We poor saps were so concerned about whether Kate would get her crown or not, we didn't realise they were simply following the same steps as Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler. Lesson two: perpetuate your popularity by asking photographers to stay away, but by lingering in front of them wherever possible. (Rumour has it Victoria Beckham goes through arrivals twice at Heathrow if there aren't enough paps the first time round.) Lesson three: don cute matching outfits, so even your critics can have fun slating you. Hence, the cowboy look – the press and the public are so savvy these days that it takes more than a baseball cap (William Hague) or denim shirt (Tony Blair) to gain notoriety. Lesson four: the law of averages means the more time you spend in front of the cameras, the more likely we are to see your knickers. Which was proven on a Canadian airfield when the royal drawers were unveiled. Wouldn't it be better for all involved if Kate and Wills just closeted themselves in the Welsh cottage they profess to be so fond of?. We're tiring of celebs, and we'll tire of this pair too. Just look what happened to Kerry Katona. www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/harriet-walker-could-kate-and-william-be-the-new-katie-and-peter-2309537.html

WIllKat is a total success in the States. IMPO she has been flawless during this trip and it's being mentioned how much time and effort they made to talk to people. if someone put out their hand Kate shook it, william went down the lines quicker but not kate, he had to wait for her more than once at the end of the line. i think that's what people responded to, children certainly seemed to love her. i've enjoyed watching them live on the internet and seeing the small, intimate gestures IT seems to me, he absolutely adores her, he's constantly touching or patting her but it seems natural and unconscious not contrived (like the fatAl kisses) and fussy. they make me feel like when i see young lovers in the flush of new love, kinda wistful and jealous of that feeling (that face it won't last forever )
