Well if she loved the duke, she shouldn't have been lonely and miserable with a man who would give up the throne for her, but in fact she always hated that he did--she wanted to be queen and she wanted him too fight for his title--she wasn't happy about that, and she didn't like being shipped off to the Bahamas's were they would do less harm, after they chose to go visit Hitler--they were scared to death in England that he might give Edward a position or title. I think Wallis wasn't too lonely , it's said that she use to have lots of affairs and kind of rubbed it in Edwrds face, and he just lived with it and followed her around. I think she had a kind of contempt for him also--she resented him not being a stronger man, and her lap dog. That said she stayed with him, but then what could she do after he gave up the throne for her (they secretly wanted him gone anyway) and she made a very good excuse. She left to the south of France with a boat load of jewels that Edward had bought her, while England was trying to decide what to do about her? ;D I'm sure her filling her pockets with jewels on her way out of England went a long way in people's opinion about her--in that way she is like Charlene! Wallis at least was much smarter and sophisticated--she had oodles of more style than Charlene, and at lest she had a man that loved her, even if she didn't love him.
