The problem is that Monaco is not the 'World Capital' of anything. It's just Albert having delusions of grandeur that he can be a world leader and the citizens of Monaco must pay for it. Everyday, I am more convinced that Albert needs to be committed to an asylum and the Wittstocks need to be pushed back into the gutter they crawled out of. JMHO

I'm going to throw up. "The People's Prince" Oh so now copying Grace isn't enough, they want to copy Princess Diana. They both are such warm and genuine people (Airbag please). They are really making a textbook case for college psychology majors to study. I think Scout is on the right track with her post!

The palace is in full swing with their PR blitz; there are about six articles in the local paper about the wedding. Albert and Charlene wants you to know that they are paying for the Eagles concert and they chose all the songs. They didn't mentioned about paying for the Jarre concert - so I guess Monaco is paying for that concert. Also, by singling out that they are paying for this concert - it assumes that other expenses for the wedding they are not paying for. With the budget deficit in the country, why isn't the media and the people asking the cost of this wedding? Oh that's right - there is no free press and freedom of speech in Monaco.
Eagles concert gift to the Stade Louis-II Monday, May 30, 2011
On 30 June, the U.S. group will give a show hosted by the sovereign to privileged 15,000: Monaco, residents and residents of surrounding communities
It is a gift from the newlyweds. A Present Albert II and Charlene Wittstock decided to offer the people of Monaco. June 30, hours before the official ceremonies, the night is ... rock and roll at the Stade Louis II. The American group, The Eagles, the forty-year career, has mythologized the stainless tube: Hotel California will serenade the lovers for the first highlight of the wedding.
Surprising? Not really ... The music selection was decided by the sovereign and Charlene Wittstock. We recall that on July 5, on the Place du Palais, Albert II received ZZ Top and Iggy Pop in a game buzz. For the Stade Louis II-cons, it will be the second major - and unusual! - Go rock from the Muse concert July 12, 2008.
The scene in front of the royal box This time, the scene will be placed astride the stands and the athletics track in the direction of the length of the stadium to meet the royal box. All around, around 15,000 seats will be appointed. Distributed to a third party on the lawn and two thirds in the boxes and the corners of the stadium. Accessible seating, free investment only by invitation. No place will be sold. But the sovereign wished to invite the people of Monaco, residents, workers in the Principality. As residents of surrounding communities. Places will be available shortly to be removed to stop the stadium.
Logistics is headed by teams of Monaco Live Productions, who also lead the project show Jean-Michel Jarre, July 1, the Port Hercule, the day after this concert event. From June 16, the maneuvers will begin to organize the space. A scene of 420 m2 will be installed, adorned with a giant screen and two side screens. In total, 250 tons of equipment and 180 technicians will be needed for the project. "The group comes within the framework of his European tour, so they do not show in France. But given the exceptional nature of the concert just before the royal wedding, they may prepare a surprise for the bride and groom, "Salim Zeghdar imagine that directs Monaco Live Productions.
The Eagles would go on stage at 22 hours. Since 2007, the release of their seventh album, the rockers become grandpas began a worldwide tour, entitled "Long Road out of Eden."The arrival of these oldies Monaco Yankee interposed between their performances in Hamburg (Germany) June 28 and Paddock Wood (England) on July 1. A tight agenda that made their arrival in the Principality relatively complicated to stall. But musicians are finally here in California. Will they dance a slow dance on their famous royal couple in Desperado? The public from June 30 will see ... ________________________________________ How to obtain seats?
- Monegasques can pick up their tickets from May 30 to June 11 upon presentation of identity card Monaco (2 tickets per person). - Residents of the principality can pick up their tickets from June 6 to 11 on presentation of a residence card (2 tickets per person). - Residents of surrounding communities and people working in Monaco will raise the seat 14 to 18 June - Two windows will be installed at the Stade Louis II to collect the tickets from Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. nonstop, and Saturday from 10 am to 16 pm non-stop.
The Yankee Group, author of the cult classic "Hotel California" will sing at Monaco, June 30, according to the wishes of the bride and groom.

^Paca, Is this some local official spearheading this gift "from the people" trying to get some attention for himself actually?
I think that Albert truly believes that he is giving the Monegasques a wonderful present by marrying. The ego on this guy.

I predicted it and I was right: Monaco is officially so broke that they are refusing all children who are applying to Monaco schools and who are not resident in Monaco. And this is only the beginning. This is an immediate result of the budget problems announced by the government. And this is not a rumor. It was announced during the schoolboard meeting by the mayor himself who was informed by the responsible of Monaco so that they can make the necessary adjustments for local schools.

Yet, the government is paying for this trashy wedding - even going beyond their original budget. so basically, Albert has told the people that you will pay whatever my bill turns out to be. Why the second concert - the Eagles? why couldn't Albert and Charlene just pay for the light show? When will these people get a backbone and start asking these question to Albert?

Why the second concert - the Eagles? why couldn't Albert and Charlene just pay for the light show? When will these people get a backbone and start asking these question to Albert? because the concert they can control access and thus claim it is a special present, whereas the lightshow is open to all and to attract tourists. Don't worry Monaco will get to feel it. They need the surrounding communities as much as they need Monaco. Rainier always understood that. He knew if he allows people to benefit from Monacos wealth, then they will help making it more. If they extend this to other facilities and limit all activities to Monaco residents, they will soon get into more trouble in their own country, as they will need less teachers, less instructors etc, plus it will make Monaco less attractive to work. The surrounding communities are cheaper then Monaco, but more expensive and offer less living quality then Nice. People will move away and ultimately will do companies. If you can not attract qualified workers, you go where you find them. getting access to Monaco schools, academies etc, has been one of the draws for working people. Don't forget the additional pay is not as significant for people to accept long hours of travelling constant traffic jams etc. It used to be worth coming to work in Monaco, but it has become less and less attractive.

The screwing of the people for these two Narcissists made-for-tv wedding gets better and better. According to an Le Monde interview with the wedding Production manager, Jereme Revon, the production budget hasn't been set but they are charging the Principality (I guess is not paying this fee) 1 million euros ($1,437,600). Guess what - Revon admits that this fee is higher than their normal fee of 300,000 to 400, 000 euros ($431,280 to $575,040). Also, Revon stated that 50 TV stations will be broadcasting the wedding - I'll believe it when I see it - but this is still way lower than the 172 stations that Charlene stated in her interview with Jenny Crwys-Williams. The German TV station ZDF is investing the most resources to cover this wedding. Paca, Revon claims that the viewing audience will be large because people are not working and not on vacation yet - so I guess he's believing that people in the world have nothing better to do than watch this wedding! I highlighted in red the funniest part of this article and proof that Albert is certifiable an hypocritical jackass.
TVs are getting ready for the wedding of Albert II by Guy Dutheil 31.05.11
After the wedding extravaganza in the Prince William with Kate Middleton , held April 29 in London, it was the turn of Albert II of Monaco and the South African Charlene Wittstock to marry, Friday 1 st and Saturday 2 July.
Like the British wedding, the nuptials promise to be Monaco, before all things, an audiovisual show. Already more than fifty channels to almost as many countries will plant their cameras on the Rock. Monaco does not wait 2 billion viewers, as announced for the wedding at Buckingham Palace , but the ceremony also promises to drive up the hearings. "The wedding took place on a Saturday in July, people are not working or are already on holiday and this will be a great event with a large audience " , confirms Jerome Revon, director chosen by the Principality.
A few months ago, authorities in the Principality have launched a bid to find their host broadcasting , the host broadcaster. The producer who will produce and disseminate images of marriage. This is the production company R & G, founded by the two directors Jerome Revon and Stéphane Gateau , who was finally chosen. Director of football history of Canal +, Jerome Revon was also selected to the images to debate between Nicolas Sarkozy and Segolene Royal on the eve of the second round of the 2007 presidential election.
Five hours of programming At a little over a month of the ceremony, "is not yet finalized" with the Principality, "says Revon, who claims to discuss "seamlessly with the palace". He has yet to agree on a production budget of marriage. According to the director, it should settle around 1 million euros . It's the Principality who will put their hands in the pocket. As a television channel that controls an issue, says Revon. A significant amount, "he admits. More than double a "normal uptake" , cost between 300,000 and 400,000 euros.
But for this price, R & G plans to deploy large resources. Fifty cameras will be installed on the Rock. Less than half a hundred cameras marriage of Kate and William. But they were mostly located along the route between Buckingham and Westminster, Mr Revon tip, which stressed that the trips will be shorter in Monaco. The producer is committed to provide five hours of live broadcast. The international signal of the marriage of Albert and Charlene will be free. In contrast, high definition images will be charged 5,500 euros per chain.
To make the show, Jerome Revon will deal with the ecological convictions of Albert II. "At the request of the prince, there will be no helicopter filming, because it makes noise and it's not green" , says the director. However, 200 BMW limousines, one of the sponsors of the marriage, are scheduled to carry the "crowned heads" . Ecology requires the prince and his bride will run on hybrid-powered Lexus.
Among the channels, which is the German ZDF decided to put the most resources, "says Mr. Revon. "The Germans have taken a passion for Monaco since the marriage of Ernest of Hanover with Caroline of Monaco (in 1999) " , he notes. ZDF will pay 40 000 euros extra to rent a movie set for a week and ask fifteen additional cameras. In London, the same facility to Buckingham Palace was billed 100 000.Mr. Revon ensures that "TF1 will take the high road" and, unlike the marriage of Kate and William French channels will travel.

OMG ROFL!! There we'll be no helicopters flying and filming because they make noise and and it's not green?? Albie, does your future wife know this? Because that could be the first (or who knows wich number) of many fights with her! She wants cameras everywhere!
And the excuse is beyond lame....

^ So MyaDia, from the article that you kindly included in your post, in the last paragraph, Charlene has Caroline to thank that anyone is interested in her wedding. From what I have understood from the press reports that you have shared, the Germans seem to be the most interested in this wedding and now it is reported that they are only interested because Caroline married Prince EA. Charlene has zero draw on her own. Someone or something else always has to pull the audience in and then she parades around as if they all came for her. (See recent Grand Prix.) Plus since EA probably will not be attending, I guess the Germans will be disappointed. This sham of a wedding gets screwier and screwier.
I'm not surprised that education funding is being cut in Monaco. What else can we expect when the future Princess of Monaco is a jr. high dropout? Obviously, Charlene and Albert see no value in education as neither one took advantage of the educational opportunities that they had. This is really sad that kids can't go to the school of their choice just so Charlene can have her bl**-job of a wedding.

From Voici magazine/website, (nicked from people.com?): 5200 euro a night! Some people need to work 3 months for that! Remember Blondie's "generous" donation at her SA promo tour: that was IIRC the equivalent of 5000 euros. Oh how generous of her! Imagine what could have been done with all that money that is now being wasted on the presidential suite. How many aids sufferers could have been helped there in SA. How many other things could have been done. No, mrs and mister Charity spend it on themselves, wasting it on a hotel suite. That, Monegasques, is what the future holds for you: lower and lower pension payments and cuts everywhere, just so your princely couple can live their lives in filthy and wasteful luxury. They won't economize. They won't suffer with you. On the contrary, they'll waste more and more money. Protest now, before it's too late! Throw them out of the palace, out of the country and never ever let them back in. Time for a Monegasque revolution!

I love the author's tone in Monaco wanting people to believe that Albert's wedding will only cost 4 million euros ( $5,727,600). As we did, the author list all the things that has to be paid for this wedding and sarcastically states that 4 million euros is, "... it's a damn tidy sum!" The people in Monaco really do not see how utterly stupid they come across in just accepting everything that Albert says as the golden truth. Here's the link to the french article in Le Telegramme
Monaco: 4 million euros for the marriage of Albert and Charlene June 20, 2011
L e 2 July, Albert II of Monaco, Charlene Wittstock to take wife to more than 4000 guests and 200 thousand onlookers. Imagine how many such celebrations should cost in Monaco ...Tell a figure to see? Index: We are talking here of several million ...
If you made a small state of the whole system set up, it will allow you to start counting: 520 Monegasque police requisitioned and will be deployed in the city on the evening of June 30 to July 2, four minesweepers of the French army will be on the alert to "prevent air intrusion", five giant screens will be installed including one on the port, another facing the oceanographic museum or on the front of the Chapel of St. Devote. Finally 200 people will be there to care for multilingual distinguished guests of the couple. Just that, it's a damn tidy sum!
Imagine renting the convertible, the dress, flowers, cocktail, dinner and one on the way! Note for the Rock and rises to 4 million which must be added a grant from the palace, which was not disclosed!
Fortunately, the Monaco evade taxes ...
