This is the Grimaldi trios yearly activity. Here is the official website Grand Prix of Monaco - 2011-05-26 » 2011-05-29 The Grand Prix of Monaco is a great mythical race that all the pilots dream to win on the circuit of the Principality. It is the slowest and the hardest of the World Formula 1 Championship.
To win in Monaco is hard because even a small error in the streets of the principality is fatal.
The first Grand Prix of Monaco was won by William Grover-Williams, then followed by others great names like Schumacher, Senna, Prost, Fangio, Graham Hill
Coming to the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco is one moment unforgettable that you must anticipate and prepare.
Through this site, we propose all information and a team of professionals charged to assist you in the organization of your stay: hotel, tickets, terrace, yacht, limousine, restaurant.
And why not assist to the Monaco Grand Prix from a terrace of the Hotel de Paris Monte Carlo.
Circuit de Monaco is a street circuit laid out on the city streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine around the harbour of the principality of Monaco. The circuit is used on one weekend in the month of May of each year to host the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix. Formula One's respective feeder series over the years — F2, F3000 and today GP2 — also visit the circuit concurrently with Formula One.
The idea for a Grand Prix race around the streets of Monaco came from Anthony Noghès, the president of the Monegasque car club and close friend of the ruling Grimaldi family. The inaugural race was held in 1929 and was won by William Grover-Williams in a Bugatti.
The building of the circuit takes six weeks, and the removal after the race another three weeks. The race circuit has many elevation shifts, tight corners, and a narrow course that make it perhaps the most demanding track in Formula One racing. Despite the fact that the course has changed many times during its history, it is still considered the ultimate test of driving skills in Formula One. It contains both the slowest corner in Formula One and one of the quickest (the flat out kink in the tunnel, taken at 260 km/h (160 mph)) which perhaps sums up its difficulty.
Tickets will vary from FanVision rental 75,0 € to F1 Paddock Club (Sat-Sun) 4 485,0 €.

Ticket sales are excellent this year. All best grandstand seats are sold out both Saturday and Sunday - 250 to 450 Euros and higher. Heli Air Monaco manager friend told me on my return from my last long haul trip that they haven't had such good business in years for both Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix. Things are going rather well in the Principality. No recession for the rich!!

Things are going rather well in the Principality. No recession for the rich!! I think in 2008/09 they were significantly scared. The market is coming back (along with inflation which most likely which won't effect them). The increase in attendance is due to the increase in attendance at Cannes. Charlene and Albert will think it's about them --- and of course the wedding of the century. JMO

GP and wedding are different things. the racing fans come for the race, not for Monaco. and the others come for the party. Question is though whether the companies are coming back as well. That was a major backslash as the apartments with a view weren't rented....

Thanks for the photos Rere. Here's another one. I swear I thought this photo was a portrait of grace - but it is the 'New Grace" according to the caption. actually, I think the caption is wrong. Prince Albert II of Monaco poses after receiving a portrait of his fiancee Charlene Wittstock before a charity soccer match at Louis II stadium in Monaco May 24, 2011. The match was set up for the benefit of AMADE (World Association of Children's Friends), a Monaco based association which helps children from all around the world. Are there any other royals who sign autographs? That is definately Grace. That's a famous pic of her. The caption is wrong, but as Charlene is the new serene grace, then she got mistaken for her...

Here's an article from the Monaco telecom that I find really funny (and of course delusional). I'll just post the beginning, since that's the funny part. The rest of the article is about the Grand Prix, which I'm sure people there are talking about instead of Albert and Charlene's wedding. The Monaco Grand Prix for Dummies May 25, 2011
The proximity of the royal wedding would almost forget that will take place in Monaco this weekend one of the major sporting events of the year. Worried over the odd conversation with an enthusiast? Monaco.mc think of you and has prepared a short summary of things to know ...

Ha! Like if people that are going to go to the Grand Prix cares for Albert or his pathetic bimbo bride. I mean, even in Monaco it seems that nobody care for them, why would the tourist care? I love how paca said that a person in the casino said "Whose marriage?" lol.

I love how paca said that a person in the casino said "Whose marriage?" lol. It wasn't the casino, it was in Beausoleil in a cityhall related office; the person was employed there. the other woman was talking about her son who has been working in the casino these past 25 years. She is over 80 and rather critical of recent Monaco developments. Very alert woman.good sense of humour too. said that she would vote for the mayor if he replaced the Beausoleil buses (because she can't mount them as the steps are too high) and some of the drivers too; now she needs to walk everywhere with her stick and short legs

I don't like Albert, although I must admit that he always has seemed to me a good uncle. I wish he was like this with his children. Well, it's his loss!

Although the casino workers went on strike this afternoon (see Albert's reign thread), Albert looks like he has not a care in the world.
