It should therefore that the press and major broadcast media uncritically accept a turnkey script sold by a principality transformed into an enchanted island. Should be the name of an unwritten rule, which means you do not touch the myth (hardened) to a realm of operetta, the print and broadcast media accept this story without any distance and more little critical. It does not touch the rock. The above quote is from the L'Express journalist, Renaud Revel, who broke the Albert and Charlene relationship problems story. this man is speaking to my soul he mentions everything that has bothered me so much about the media coverage of this fake Albert and Charlene love story! Thank you Mr. Revel! Renaud Revel has written an excellent article in his blog about his motive for ultimately publishing the story. He actually was quite hesitant about publishing the story and he discussed the the story at length with L'Express editor, Christophe Barbier. Revel questions the French media, especially the public TV stations TF1 and France 2 nonobjective reporting of Albert and Charlene as if they are untouchable icons and he discusses his dislike of he staggering glorification of this couple without questioning anything that they say. I think Albert would have been better leader if he was faced with objective press and perhaps Charlene might have improved herself in other manners besides plastic surgery and clothing if she also was faced with objective media coverage. Actually, probably not for Charlene, If Charlene was faced with objective press, all of her lies would have been exposed and she would have been long gone from Monaco about four years ago. Please, please read the article. It is now best article about this couple and this saga - it now beats out the New York times article written by Elaine Sciolino. This thread is not only dedicated to your opinions about Renaud Revel's comments, but how do you feel in general about the press coverage of this couple. This thread is not a repeat of the "media problems with the wedding" thread or about specific claims in the L'Express article. Rather, you can opine about any short or long term effect of the L"Express revelation. Is this good or bad for Albert, Charlene, the relationship, and/or Monaco? This thread goes beyond the "PR Machine" thread that we already has since it is focuses on Monaco's PR initiatives as opposed to the this thread which is the media's covering of this couple.

Here's the link to L'Express Renaud Revel's blog entry. Below is the Google translation. It will be great if others can help correct the translation. Again, I LOVE LOVE this article!
TF1 and France 2 in the Monaco trap
by Renaud Revel JUNE 29, 2011 5:23 P.M.
It's a great story, as the song of Michael W. Smith. A spark in rose water (adulterated) as literature paper loves ice. These are weeks that TF1 and France 2 we bludgeon of trailers seen in the Monaco wedding of the century. Weeks Jean-Claude Narcy and Stephane Bern enrubannent about this event ripolin to twist of laughter. Of last week that the two major media now scrambling in the name of marketing strategies and hearing, to maintain appearances, against all laws of gravity the most basic of journalism.
To be honest, the Express has long hesitated to publish yesterday morning on its website an article about, simply and without spreading, a series of snags, of a private nature, made recently between Prince Albert and his sweetheart, Charlene Wittstock. Epiphenomenon? Christophe Barbier and I have discussed at length before concluding that what everyone was silent for days, drawing himself up, - that most of the rumors insisting on the state of relations of the couple - could be made public, when it played for months of that privacy with a complacent media guilty. The accumulation of issues, dripping with crass demagoguery and bliss to the glory of this couple is truly staggering! Sanctified, Monaco would be a citadel untouchable and its first tenant, Prince Albert, unlike our politicians, just as an untouchable icon. Surreal.
Is not that take the readers or viewers for suckers than telling them nonsense, when in 2011 the life of a couple, he was a prince, is not necessarily free of shadows? Stéphane Bern offended this morning, in the columns of Paris, we can address the privacy of Prince Albert a copy? But is it not worse, journalistically, this-time, but to take the viewer into imaginary delusions? Is there not another way to account for this event, without falling into hagiography omerta and syrupy? TF1 and France 2 are not, until proven otherwise, responsible for communication of the Principality. And so there is no reason why it does not apply to the retransmission rules of objectivity, distance and put in perspective required of any journalist sent on the ground. Whatsoever.

this is a brilliant blog. so much to say about it, so i'll be back to post more as my thoughts come around!
first off, i'm wondering if mainstream media could really careless about these two, thus, the free reign albert and his cronies have had to disseminate their truth [fake as it is]. so, by the time the wedding rolls around, no one really cares to dig deep into the truth. i'm not making excuses for the press but trying to see it from their vantage point.

Look at the credential of Renaud Revel and compare it the morons that Albert has surrounded himself with. Can you imagine the difference in Albert's reign and personal life ii he would have surround himself with capable people. But, honestly, that would required Albert to actually work on cleaning up and improving himself - which is WORK. Albert didn't to want to do that. So he has instead hired people who will CREATE an image for him in the press. Charlene has accepted the same mentality. She didn't do anything to improve herself, but instead placed restrain on the media to sell herself as if she did. These two spent more work created this love story for the pres to sell than on actually working on a real respectful loving relationship - which most people know requires WORK. No, Charlene and the Palace PR bunch have worked the press and the little guys to convince them to buy it. They took a lot of time on the sugar boards friending people and making themselves known to "special" correspondents. They contacted bloggers - one particular blogger on the dish admitted that Charlene's staff had contacted her to "clarify" and offer assistance. They started the Facebook page. They took notes. They worked hard for this press but the media works two ways.
You open yourself up and they are going to throw that door open. Charlene and family are getting back, in spades, what they have been gardening for so long.

he's kinda hot too! okay, stop creative. anyways i prefer a brilliant mind from a man!
now to my point. maybe he could write a book on these two and expose this scam business deal for what it really is. balancing the lies that hold this "couple" together, the ineffectiveness of albert as a leader and the corruption.

i think it also goes back to the laziness of the press. with limited resources it's easy to take p.r. spoon fed stories. i only know in the case of my show which is global. no one cares so they take the one side, wait for the response and then the story goes out. unless it's someone that REALLY matters, no investigation is going to be done. now, that being said, it doesn't mean the media that has a vested interest in these two, particularly the french media, should not have let their bulls_ _ t slide.

Based on the title of his article, Renaud really has a big problem with not only the public French TV stations glorification of Albert & Charlene, but also their acceptance of the palace script. Literally, to interview Charlene that were given a script - and they all accepted it. I do not know how these stations are funded- if any funding comes from the public. But, these stations have spent a lot of resources on this wedding an their coverage of it. I wonder how the french feel knowing that they are subsidizing this farce. everyone doesn't have to be as stupid as the people in Monaco who have not demanded a real account of how much this wedding is. IT seems that this wedding might cost just as much as the entire country budget deficit is. Stahl used the word "violent" to describe L'Express revelation of there article. Imagine, this woman actually believes it is a violent attack (almost criminal) to dare question or reveal anything beyond that what Albert and Charlene wanted to present about this relationship! Wait a minute, it is criminal to do this in Monaco what L'Express did. Why do these idiots expect everyone else to treat them as he Monaco media has? I know why, the media kind of created this monster with their nonobjective glorification of Charlene from the beginning!

Slowly the "real" press are getting the message: From Twitter (HuffingtonPostStyle): She might be a lunatic, but Charlene Wittstock has looked incredibly chic as of late huff.to/iLDl2xLUNATIC. That's exactly what this is all about. The lunatic is running the asylum. The press were eating out of her hand. Now they smell truth and blood.

Bravo! I also read a piece on MSNBC.com ... a bit "tongue in cheek" regarding the "Top 10 Things You Should Know About Charlene Wittstock" ... what was on the list: how about her desire to bring "a Manolo Blahnik and Starbucks to Monaco" .... ouch!

Ha, ha, ha....after this wedding fiasco (were guests would be whispering behind the happy groom and blushing bride's backs) these two losers will be laughing stack among Monaco's social elite and all European Royals...it won't be any better in SA as well. IMO the most interesting thing at this wedding will be a huge elephant on the trapeze above the Palace court yard. What a circus!!!

Yes he is kinda hot (go for it Creative -- you're in the same field!) and yes I think he's got guts big time. The twits in Monaco don't know what the hell to do. They're running around with their heads cut off. Albert must be throwing one hell of a temper tantrum. He's in too deep to back out. I have to give Charlene credit because let's face it, she has pulled off one hell of a con. It will make for a good beach reading book. I think we should save our fearless reporter at L'Express to investigate all the corruption in Monaco. He can start with Putin's Dacha on Albert's property. The only question I have, is will he be willing to write it and risk his life. The corruption goes that deep - at least according to Eringer. JMO

If Albert and Charlene did not use and hire the press so much....he may have spared them the mockery, but then that is what this whole relationship has always been iabout. The incredible overkill is wearing on people where before they were just happy to ignore it...ignore them. We all warned them long ago about how they used the press to promote themselves and spread thick the fiction--I am glad someone from the press there has the nerve to put it to them, like myadia said, if someone had the nerve to say it long ago, maybe Albert would have changed courses , instead of thinking his money would make it easy to defraud the world. All Albert had to do to help himself is be honest and be himself. And Albert still believes the world or the Moneqasque want to see these two procreate!

The truth is coming out, finally. The journalist needs a raise. If he dares to investigate Monaco's corruption he could possibly win a Pulitzer. Now wouldn't that be something. He has the attitude of Woodruff and Bernstein. The old fashion reporter. As long as his paper isn't intimidated they could continue to put Monaco under a microscope. The Huffington post called Charlene a Lunatic but a chic one? Yikes!
