I think the pressure was on him to get married purely from a royal protocol perspective and initially she probably seemed a good enough 'candidate' for the position of Royal wife. He was probably expecting to continue with his other life, while having the quite grateful public wife as a smokescreen for his wild ways. When it all backfired those last few weeks, I would say he went ahead with the wedding rather than face the embarassment of cancelling the wedding, little did he realise how it would all blow up in his face. IMO on some level he's played the game long enough to know what he's doing; Charlene, only desiring the title and lifestyle, simply refused to actually to do the job of Princess-ing. If she'd played her part, this train-wreck would have been less dramatic. They're both playing Tug-of-War; each for their own ends. oh wow!! I agree with this, absolutely. Actually, everyone is right with their comments, but this particular comment, I think it is very very close to the truth of why this guy married her, and Charlene certainly desired the title, money etc. that sticks out a mile. what stupid, greedy people they are, you can only feel sorry for their pathetic lives.
