This is horrible. In October 2007, Monaco's cathedral organist Marc Giacone escaped a sentence of six months in prison after mocking the prince and other officials on his website. He was fined 2,000 euros for defamation and injury against the prince and other high-level officials.

A 22-year-old man was jailed April 27, 2006 for three months for insulting Princess Stephanie of Monaco. The man confronted the Princess and made derogatory comments about her appearance as she left a restaurant in the Principality with her former husband Daniel Ducruet and her children. According to a witness, Ducruet then fought with the man, who was found guilty of defamation and provocation. He was sentenced to serve three months in prison.

I remember the story well and at the time a prison sentence was expected. He is still persona non grata in MC...though that might change ;D

And Steph was never asked as a witness to testify to the insult. As a matter of fact Ducruet has been in a few fights, also near his club. The guy never got the right to a decent trial. Then again no one in MC really ever does.

I doubt Albert will change that article, he should though. It sounds more like a dictator than a fair ruler. Again, it's my opinion :-)

Monaco is a dictatorship. Other monarchies might have that article as well, but I don't think it is applied to disorderly drunks. Plus in most other countries mentioned in the article, you have freedom of speech and freedom of press. In MC you have neither.
