CM7007: 100% agree. "Now she's really going to be snubbed by the European Royalty. (And everybody knows it's usually the woman who sets the "spiritual tone of a couple's life together.)" Albert (and each Head of State or CEO) lives in a very material world full of fake, games, enemies and sycophants. He needs a very strong and bright person around who truely respects him. Charlene is only full of herself = empty. And in addition dump. Her "strong character" is egoism, nothing else. That's her religion and the tone between them. "The common values of sports" = CW want's to win (the tiara) and someone told Albert this would boost Monaco's economy = he set's up a PR-event. Egoism + desperation = faux tale couple. BTW: Should we add this to the list of PR-fails or better to the "yet-another-sign-this-union-does-not-work" list ?

There is no excuse for these two clowns not attending such a huge Catholic event. And IF either one - but especially Charlene - truly wanted to make an impression on other Royals AND the people of her country AND the Catholics of this world - she would have INSISTED they attend this event - THEN - maybe she would have won over SOME people. Now she's really going to be snubbed by the European Royalty. (And everybody knows it's usually the woman who sets the "spiritual tone of a couple's life together.) I knew she was dumb - but even I didn't realize she was this stupid!!! HMOG! Charlene's first trip to the Vatican is going to be a "private meeting" with the Pope when all he cameras are focused on her alone. They will make a trip alone to meet the Pope for a photo opp either right before their wedding or most likely when she is Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco. She will have a especially designed haute couture Akris long black gown, veil, and of course matching gloves to the veil to wear. Charlene will need time to practice how devout Catholic princess looks as she did her distraught funeral look at princess Antoinette's funeral. What's more important for Charlene is that the sycophantic press and all the sugar loonies say how devout she is by looking at the photos. Besides, Charlene didn't want any other photo opp ruin her photo opp at the British wedding, which she swears she was the best and most elegant royal there. For the record, all the royals of countries whose state religion is Catholic (as Monaco) attended this event).VATICAN CITY, VATICAN - MAY 01: (L-R) Prince Felipe of Spain, Princess Letizia of Spain, Maria Teresa, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Marie Aglae of Liechtenstein, Prince of Liechtenstein Hans Adam II (with other family members behind them) attend John Paul II Beatification Ceremony held by Pope Benedict XVI on May 1, 2011 in Vatican City, Vatican. The ceremony marking the beatification and the last stages of the process to elevate Pope John Paul II to sainthood was led by his successor Pope Benedict XI and attended by tens of thousands of pilgrims alongside heads of state and dignitaries.Queen Paola and King Albert II of Belgium Marie Aglae of Liechtenstein and Prince of Liechtenstein Hans Adam II Princess Letizia of Spain (L) and Maria Teresa, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Prince Felipe of Spain and Princess Letizia of Spain Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace - even tyrants came. Everyone came but the stars of Monaco's made-for-tv wedding

Yes, it looks like all the Catholic royals were present. I would expect no less from them. Except Albert who wants a private audience with the Pope. I wonder if the Pope is going to give them a lecture? It might be a chance to instill the fear of God in both of them. Tall order I know, but it is the Pope speaking.

Berlusconi was there, so apparently they invited also the morally blind, taking that excuse from Albie.

I think that we have had this discussion before on the RD during the funeral for Princess Antoinette (which I can't refer back to), but what is the distinction between a lady wearing black or white for such an event? I note that P. Letizia wore black, but GD Teresa wore white. What are the reasons behind this, if there are any? Thanks for expanding my knowledge!

Any Roman Catholic Queen or King (with the title High Royal Highness) who is either the Sovereign or the spouse of the Sovereign of the countries with Catholicism as their state religion are given a royal privilege known as Privilège du blanc, that allows them to wear white with an audience with the Pope. Currently, these countries are Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg. Although Monaco and Lichtenstein both are Catholic nations, their titles are Serene Highness Prince and Princess and thus these women wear black as other women instead of white. Personally, I don't think the Vatican should distinguish with this privilege between those with the title of HRH and HSR - they need all the Catholic nations that they can get.

Thanks for the info MyaDia! I thought that they would all wear black because they are all married women, then I saw GD Teresa and Q Paola of Belgium in white and decided that I didn't understand the dress code. Thinking ahead, will Charlene wear white when she and Albert get that private audience with the Pope that they are angling for? Will she hope that everyone will assume she is an HRH just as the palace website has deemed with calling it a 'royal' wedding? Maybe just saying your something, whether you actually are, can make it so.

Shame on Albert and The Bitchstock for not appearing on this...they want to be the center of attention, and with the presence of more royals there, they can't. They know nobody gives a shit about them, and they woudn't be noticed. But they will have their private meeting with the Pope next year. Gosh, how can these two be like this?! Idiots.

Guys, it doesn't say the their royal fill in the blanks will even be attending. It's a general fundraiser using the wedding as an excuse. It's going to cost them more than they will take in at $75 a person. I bet it's a cash bar too. If they were attending this event, it would say so. This is really lame if you ask me. JMO

Sugar french loonie (that i'm begining to think that has something to do with PR people from Monaco) said that Barsi was there to represent Monaco instead of the idiots. That it's "ok" because it wasn't a big deal, like a coronation or funeral....so it's "ok" the undynamic duo didn't show up. These sugars will say anything to excuse their beautifil princes Tartlene.

Does anyone know if Fat Al and Trampolina attended the Beatification ceremony for John Paul II at the Vatican today? All other Catholic royal families attended. According to the below news report - no. did you really expect them to? Attending weddings and having the world photographed them is more important than an event at the Vatican, especially for the newly converted Catholic Charlene. Probably a deciding factor was that Charlene didn't have enough time to get a specially design Akris outfit - with gloves to match her veil. Ceremonies for beatification of John Paul II By News Monaco April 29, 2011
AI'occasion ceremonies of beatification of John Paul II on Sunday May 1 at St. Peter's, SE. Michel ROGER, representing HSH Prince Albert II will lead the official delegation of the Principality of Monaco. The Minister of State will be joined by Dr. Michel-Yves Mourou Chairman of the Crown and Mr. Jean-Claude MICHEL Ambassador of the Principality to the Holy See. The Monegasque delegation will attend, among the 70 foreign delegations expected at the beatification Mass celebrated in St. Peter's Square by Pope Benedict XVI. A delegation of the Association Monegasque FAR . (Faith, Action, radiation) will also be present.
LOL Dr Mourou is a radiologist, will he x ray the miracle nun? They also have a pediatrician (nice guy, treated my kids as babies and allowed me to leave hospital earlier then they otherwise would have let me, plus had a room renovated to our needs as I refused leaving hospital without my kiddos ) and a geriatrics doctor in the family. btw anyone remember if Albert was there for Mother theresa? would be a good indicator if their absence was unusual

"Sugar french loonie (that i'm begining to think that has something to do with PR people from Monaco) said that Barsi was there to represent Monaco instead of the idiots." And who will buy this??? Why all the other royals came to Rome and did not send their Bishop instead? Plus: Monaco is the second smalest state - after the Vatican and it is a catholic country. They need each other. There is no other excuse but a crisis meeting last sunday to think how to explain that CW flew from London right back to S.A. to stay there.

was it Prince Andrew behind the Belgium Royals? If even the queen sends someone, Albert should have been there.

If you have to pay for charity ok. But this is really over the top. I think the proceeds are to go to the PGA. There is a $20 tax credit given - so it's for charity. But still!!!)

I remember when Ratzinger was chosen, that Barsi regretted not to have known him before. The guy is ambitious and full of himself. If they would have chained him to the cathedral in Monaco, he would have found a way to get to Rome. After all they are supposed to receive Benedict next year in Monaco for a visit, sth that none of his predecessors achieved. Not that he has done much for it, it's due to the desolate state of the church, but none the less, he will try to make the best of it for himself. If he could just get a grip on his vanity...
