Prince Albert II of Monaco to visit Kautokeino in March 2012
Philip Burgess Thursday, 23 February 2012 19:04 HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco will visit Kautokeino Finnmark at the end of March 2012. The Association of World Reindeer Herders, the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry and the Kautokeino Municipality is hosting the visit. The Prince will meet indigenous youth from the circumpolar reindeer husbandry, to discuss the major changes now taking place in the Arctic indigenous areas with respect to climate change and industrial development. He will also participate in and give a lecture in conjunction with the "World Indigenous Television Broadcasting Conference" (www.WITBC2012.org) entitled, "Adapting to climate change and protection of the Arctic." This conference brings together indigenous television broadcasters from around the world.
HRH Prince Albert II has demonstrated an extensive global commitment to issues related to climate change and environmental protection for sustainable development, focusing in part on biodiversity. "The fact that His Royal Highness Prince Albert as a head of state and with its strong commitment now to visit Kautokeino to meet international reindeer youth is very important to Arctic indigenous communities in a challenging time," said Mikhail Pogodaev, the leader of the Association of World Reindeer Herders. The Mayor of Kautokeino, Klemet Erland Hætta in Kautokeino also emphasized the event, "This visit shows that Kautokeino has gradually been put on the map in the northern regions where indigenous issues are discussed. We look forward to giving a good reception to HRH Prince Albert in Kautokeino. "
Nearly 100,000 reindeer herders and 20 different indigenous peoples are involved in reindeer husbandry around the North, and reindeer are important to the life and economy of Arctic indigenous communities. New knowledge related to changes in climate and land use will be important for the sustainable management of the North. "It is important to use both scientific and traditional knowledge to build robust communities in the Arctic for the future, which will also be discussed during the Prince's visit," stated Anders Oskal, the Director of the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry. The visit of HRH Prince Albert II will include a visit to the Finnmark plateau and will participate in an official event in Kautokeino.

Albert and Charlene will visit the Sami community Guovdageaidnu in Norway on a partially private trip later this month.
Notice how Albert and Charlene always throw in a supposedly environmental or humanitarian event to justify their NUMEROUS private vacations (it is NOT the other way around). There comes to a point when we really have to hold Monaco just as accountable for Albert and Charlene's actions. These two will only do as much as Monaco allows them to. As long as the people in Monaco are afraid to speak up and publicly out about Albert and Charlene's (especially Charlene who rarely shows up for a public appearance in Monaco) desire to travel the globe and party and holiday in any place BUT Monaco, Albert and Charlene will continue to search for any and every reason to leave the country.
Seriously, a reindeer herd? Really? Oh they found another photo opp for Charlene to attend this trip for Albert - The royal couple will meet with Sami youth from Norway, Finland, Sweden and Russia and discuss the changes that are going on in the Arctic. What in the hell does Charlene know about the changes in the Artic and why would she be trying to TEACH anyone else about it? All I can say is that Monaco is getting what they deserve with Albert and Charlene because they are unwilling to demand better!

I forgot, here's the link to the conference website: World Ingeniousness Television Broadcasting ConferenceJust wait and watch: in a few days the palace will release a statement explaining the world-shattering important reason why Albert and Charlene are attending this conference in Norway - because they were invited. Then, the toothless Monaco media will regurgitate it as undeniable quieting fact. Meanwhile, Charlene will pose with some children in Monaco right before she heads out the country (that she does nothing for) AGAIN. Just wait and watch.

Just another attempt for the boring couple to show how "close and caring" they are to ordinary, local people around the world. It is good PR for the "Princess of the ordinary children hearts of the World" (vomit!)...as well as good opportunity for Albert to go camping. We all know how much he loves being in nature and pretending to be a great explorer...just like his gran-grand father Albert I.

Lavetta, I would have moved your post to this couple thread since it has now been announced that Charlene will also accompany Albert on this trip. It really is not necessary, nor desired, to start a new thread for every article announcing a future event for Albert (sometime weeks before the event) - unless the event is something that you foresee considerable discussion leading up to the event. I tend to post announcement of future events like these in Albert and/or Charlene's Current /Upcoming Events thread.

I read over the flunkies board they'll arrive in Finland this sunday and then go to Norway. One of them is wondering if they'll be at Rose Ball because of the little time they have to be from one place to other.

Why does this remind me of his last arctic trip where he had meals flown in and had all the extras to keep himself toasty warm. I bet Charlene will just show up for the photo ops and will actually be staying in a deluxe hotel. I thought she hated the cold which is why she doesn't go skiing. I wonder what happens to botox when the temperature goes way below freezing or for that matter her implants?

Prince of Monaco a couple made a quick trip to Enontekiö Sun, 03/25/2012 Monaco's Prince Albert and his spouse Charlene made a quick visit in the afternoon Enontekiö Lapland. The Princely couple in the afternoon stayed about twenty minutes to the village of Hetta Mary’s Days the yearly Sami event of tradition. They followed the reindeer races a couple of off time. Approximately 500 people witnessed the value of the visit. Lucky got autographs from Albert and Charlene. Reindeer contest organizer Samuli Näkkälä estimates that there were about 500 people. The case was also interested in the media. - Journalists came to such an extent that almost had to evict the legs, described Näkkälä. He did not have accurate information about where the Princely couple went on of their journey. Previous information, they were to stay at the Norwegian side of the mountains, either lean-to or Laplander's hut accommodation. Albert's was supposed to be Enontekiö last year, but the trip was canceled because of the death of his aunt.
