As you all may know, last week Albert and Charlene had a state visit to Ireland. Please feel free to post anything from last week into this thread. I'll start the thread by responding to another royalwatcher's comment about Charlene's impact on Ireland. I'll post the article and hopefully you will give your opinion. “… some of the criticism aimed at Charlene would've put the biggest Elvis/Diana/JFK/9-11 conspiracists to shame. Shame though. She was here in Ireland this week and even five days after her departure a GLOWING piece on her was published on the front page of Ireland's biggest Sunday newspaper today. I was looking forward to posting it, to prove some of the more freaky anti-Charlene posters wrong."Below is the article that the royal watcher is alluding to. What do you think? Does the reporters actual words and/or tone of the article make you rethink your opinion on Charlene? Do you find this article as GLOWING as the royal watcher believes? My opinion - hell NO! If you pay attention to the tone of the article, it is not very respectful to a reigning Prince and hius soon-to-be wife. Charlene comes across as a golddigger. Pay attention to the adjectives that the reporter uses. another thing that the royal watcher doesn't allude to is the reference to the Queen's visit and how does this affect the propping up of Charlene (realizing the contentious relationship between Ireland and Britain). This reference is even more obvious in another article I will post. *** From the Irish Independent (Also note that Grace's photo was placed on the front page to accompany the article - not Charlene's! *** Charlene: Europe's saving graceSunday April 10 2011 Just when we thought we'd fallen out with Europe they sent us her. Clearly sensing that our stereotype of a European is a now fat-cat bondholder, they sent an angel to walk among us. She's not even technically European but, in fairness, it wasn't her passport we were checking out. It would be fair to say there are few men in the country who didn't practically go blind from looking at pictures of her all last week. Dads all over the country suddenly developed a long-hidden interest in fashion, and particularly in asymmetrical, off the shoulder, long clingy numbers that show off magnificent South African swimmers' shoulders. Many of us were barely aware of Charlene Wittstock before last week. But then she came and she brought the sun. The fact that she was with Prince Albert of Monaco helped matters. It gave her that air of attainability. She clearly likes balding, bespectacled, middle aged, Irish-looking guys, which made half the men in the country think they could be in with a shout. The fact that he pretty much owns a country probably helps. But, sure anyway, don't we all own banks and hotels in London and whatnot? And the beauty of it all was that she just arrived. There was little fuss in advance. Sinn Fein or Richard Boyd Barrett or anyone didn't even have time to organise a protest. Because trust us, they would have thought of something. But no, we were busy looking forward to the queen and Obama, and even the Dalai Lama. And then Europe threw us this nice little unexpected amuse-bouche. We may not speak the same language as them, but we all speak the international language of a statuesque beauty. But it will probably take more than Charlene to make us love Europe again. If you take it that, as a country who is disillusioned with our current partner, we are essentially speed-dating potential new partners over the next couple of months, you have to say that some of the others have a lot to offer. Rather than protesting at the queen we should perhaps be considering propositioning her. We're sorry we ran off with that fly-by-night European, Ma'am. It's all turned sour and now he's blackmailing us for money. Can't we come back in with you? When we get Obama down to Moneygall maybe we should try to get him drunk and get him to agree to taking us on as the 51st state. We could have all the legal documents ready. Or if all that fails we could just beg the Dalai Lama to take us into his community of peace, love and understanding. In fact the Wise One has some interesting perspectives on burning bondholders. Learn the rules well, he always says, so you can break them effectively. Though, to come back to Charlene, if she was a bondholder we probably wouldn't burn her. Let's face it; she's smoking hot already.Sunday Independent

Here's the second article I alluded to above from the same Sunday version of Irish Independent. In my opinion, the Irish Independent is more about sticking it to Britain and the queen than about praising Albert and Charlene. Do you think Ireland will stop discussing William and Kate's wedding and start discussing Albert and Charlene's? *** from the Irish Independent *** Albert scratches our royal itchBy Sarah Caden Sunday April 10 2011 IT is with some degree of caution that one admits interest in the imminent royal wedding in England. At worst, admission of even casual curiosity could invite an anti-monarchist rant with mention of 800 years of oppression; at best, you may be laughed at for taking any notice of the shenanigans of some silly posh people you don't even know. It came as quite a relief then, last week, when Prince Albert of Monaco and his South African fiancee Charlene Wittstock came to visit his maternal grandfather's native land. Those who have been quietly keeping an eye on Kate Middleton's flowers-or-tiara dilemma, or her sister's gaffe regarding the dress , were finally free to rave about some royalty without shame. For this was royalty of our own, perfectly suited to our pick-and-choose mentality when it comes to whom we deign to exalt. Commoner fiancee of heir to UK throne: bad. Olympic-fiancee to second-generation Irish prince of tiny European state: very, very good. And don't you know Charlene has a bit of Irish blood herself, of course. Oh, happy day. And so, last week was all about how lovely were the visitors from Monaco, as they took in the Book of Kells; announced a Trinity College scholarship in the name of Albert's mother, Grace Kelly; visited his grandfather's native Mayo and met with some distant cousins. Well, weren't they so down to earth and wasn't she only just as beautiful as Princess Grace and didn't he have the cupla focal and everything. It was simply perfect. As the week of our royal visit ends, then, it may be the case for some of us that Albert has scratched the royal itch for us, so to speak. There may be those who no longer feel the need to watch William and Kate now that we feel we have royals of our own. Or, better, maybe we'll start watching without guilt, now that, sure, we're all royalty.

Leave it to Albert and Charlene to screw up anything that they touch. Just when one rosy-colored fan wants us to believe how much Ireland is just glowing over their visit and Irish Independent is singing how smoking hot Charlene is with her asymetrical "clingy" gown, others are reporting about more substantive issues that shines a brighter light on this non-dynamic duo. Ireland's sunday times wrote this tidbit about Albert and Charlene's privated hosted dinner at the K club ( Albert always stay at the K club when he visit Ireland, which is owned by his friend Dr Michael Smurfit, Ireland's Honorary Consul in Monaco). Monte Carlo and the busted Prince Albert of Monaco and his finacee, Charlene Wittstock, are used to turning heads. However, at a private dinner in the K Club last Sunday, it was two of their fellow diners that caused eyebrows to be raised. Michael Lowry and Michael Fingleton were in attendance. Fingleton is the disgraced former CEO of Nationwide and Lowry is a corrupted politician who has been on the take for years. Are these typical dinner guests for Albert? So, after the so-called glowing article about Charlene (and Albert), here's what the Irish Independent have to say about their visit/dinner. It seems now that everyone is trying to distance themselves from the non-dynamic duo. *** From the Irish Independent *** Gilmore 'had no role' in prince's controversial dinnerBy Fionnan Sheahan Political Editor Monday April 11 2011 Prince Albert, left, and Michael Fingleton dined together. TANAISTE and Foreign Affairs Minister Eamon Gilmore has insisted he did not know Prince Albert of Monaco attended a controversial dinner with Michael Lowry and Michael Fingleton during his visit to Ireland last week. The Labour leader's deputy, Social Welfare Minister Joan Burton, said yesterday she was shocked by the reports of the unofficial gathering organised by businessman Dr Michael Smurfit, Ireland's Honorary Consul in Monaco -- a position controlled by Mr Gilmore's department. The dinner took place in the K Club, which is owned by Dr Smurfit and is where Prince Albert usually stays when he comes to the country on private visits.Prince Albert was accompanied by his fiancee, Charlene Wittstock, at the dinner. Also on the guest list were disgraced TD Mr Lowry, the formerFine Gael minister officially reprimanded in the Dail the previous week following the Moriarty Tribunal report, and Mr Fingleton, the former Irish Nationwide chief.Despite demands from the Government, disgraced former banker Mr Fingleton has refused to return a €1m bonus he got from the building society after it ran into difficulties. Irish Nationwide provided the loan to Dr Smurfit and property developer Gerry Gannon to purchase the K Club in Co Kildare. Expressing her shock at the attendance of Mr Lowry and Mr Fingleton at the dinner, Ms Burton said it was evidence "these guys have not changed their behaviour". She said the controversial figures believed they could "go back to business as usual". "If it's true, it's shocking," she told RTE radio. The prince's state visit began last Monday, while the dinner happened on Sunday. Mr Gilmore's department said the Tanaiste was not aware of the dinner and that the department had no role in organising it. "No. The first day of his visit was entirely private," a spokesman said. "There would have been no state expenditure on that part of his visit."

Hello all, happy to be here and thanks to those who worked on creating this new forum. I was wondering... Has PA contributed some of his own pocket's $$$$$$$ to Ireland's bailout?

Do you find this article as GLOWING as the royal watcher believes?
NO, but i'm sure it's one of the whining flunkies that got the monaco forum shut down, so to a delusional flunkie YES it's glowing, they probably just ignored the dinner with crooks the night before. birds of feather and all that (rolling eyes)
excellent thank you for all the links (i already gave you a karma for starting the board, here's another karma in spirit) Graces's photo with the article puts this in "priceless" category LOL
it's too painful to watch, i have to turn away, between his stuttering and her simpleton blabbering, i can't take the tragic ugliness of this non dynamic duo (except in very small doses)
i read the first article as an assignment the journalist didn't relish but knew what was expected and was clever enough to put enough snark with the cheesy stuff (my favorites)
(She clearly likes balding, bespectacled, middle aged, Irish-looking guys, which made half the men in the country think they could be in with a shout. The fact that he pretty much owns a country probably helps) ROFL
(amuse-bouche) The term is French, literally translated to "mouth amuser". i guess the writer saw the hot tub pictures with trashlene "servicing" FAtAl. ;=P this may be my new favorite name for princess disgrace....amusebouche, a free tidbit, just a small portion> fits her to a T!!!
"Do you think Ireland will stop discussing William and Kate's wedding and start discussing Albert and Charlene's"
interesting question, it will certainly show trashlenes effectiveness for "saving" moronaco, but i'd be really surprised if that happened. REAL ROYAL (not the pitiful princely street corner circus) wedding fever is everywhere in the states, they commented on it last night on the local news, so it's in the culture stream of conciousness.
"Leave it to Albert and Charlene to screw up anything that they touch."
ROFL ;0 YES i gotta admit i just love it! they may be tragic but the way they always shoot themselves in the foot iMO is just SO amusing
"Fingleton is the disgraced former CEO of Nationwide and Lowry is a corrupted politician who has been on the take for years. Are these typical dinner guests for Albert? "
WELL DUH!!! can i hear a big HELL > YEAH!!!!!
OH OH OH OH OH this is priceless, they are SHOCKED SHOCKED i say> to see a corrupt despot like FAtAl hanging out with shamed crooks HELOOOO the nondynamic duo have no shame, only pricetags. JMO. FINALLY someone puts 2 + 2 together and gets 4, palace flunkies have been saying 5 and no one seemed to care or notice, it seems a hopeful > a crack in the wall of silence showing the depth of corruption in Moronaco. wouldn't it be funny if that delusional wall was made of sugar and when it started to crack it all happened really, really quick? that would be a happy day.

MyaDia/bystander is that you? If so, hi from me and thanks a lot for creating this forum. I am not sure whether you have already covered that link:http://www.sovereignindependent.com/?p=17764. It is about "develop our bond - but no casino, please". I really wonder why those two visited Ireland in the first place. Establishing another shady business where a lot of naive people will loose their money? I hope this time the Irish are more carefull when contributing money into a business enterprise where PA is involved. I am not sure whether I am overreacting but I find it very strange that the MC section on the RD was totally wiped out. All the information gathered not available anymore. I just cannot get rid of the notion that somebody wants to manipulate/weed out facts.

In the first Irish Independent article that MyaDia posted, I found the tone not 'glowing' for Charlene, but very disrespectful. The writer seemed to only view Charlene as a sex object, not as the potential Princess Consort of a head of state. And mentioning Albert's looks was not exactly 'glowing' either to me. The whole tone of the article made me wonder if Ireland has much respect for Albert and Charlene and Monaco. The private dinner at the K Club at the first of the visit only emphasized Monaco's continued shadiness in people's eyes. As news of this dinner leaked out, evidently members of Ireland's government were forced into commenting on the dinner and it appears that whatever positive buzz was created by the visit, this dinner is now erasing as it reminds everyone of who Albert really is. As I said in one of my last posts in blackout land, Albert was riding on his parent's coattails with this visit, big time. He was trying to gin up attention for his upcoming wedding by reviving the successful trip that his parent's had to Ireland. What has Albert done on his own? This STATE VISIT was just a fix for Albert and Charlene's narcissistic addictions. I don't see how it did much to improve relations between Ireland and Monaco. Thanks again MyaDia for starting this forum. Karma to you!

Thanks countess and Elktra for your opinions about the tone of the article. sometimes i think I am crazy or way too bias to think straight. But, if you are a Holyywood C lister, you might believe that the article is GLOWING. But for the future wife of a head of state and future Princess I agree with you it seemed so disrespectful. But, I am sure Charlene and her flunkies have posted it right and center on her Facebook page. Hell, VisitMonaco might even have it on their Facebook page.

i second your notion and feel confident that the more they show the "real" non dynamic duo, the further people will try to distance themselves. just like the dinner with the crooks, that's their true colors and they don't even try to hide it, they embrace their corruption, it pays for their ego's pursuits.
This STATE VISIT was just a fix for Albert and Charlene's narcissistic addictions. I don't see how it did much to improve relations between Ireland and Monaco
they don't care about that, this was IMO just a pathetic attempt to drum up business for the street corner circus

the indo has the worst writers ever, Willie o dea, fianna fail TD from Limerick a proven liar, whonhad to py out 100.000 grand for libel and then sign a high court declaration denying it before a tape of the incident came to light. Celia Larkin a ex of Bertie the liar ex leader of the country, she got a fast track loan from fingers and it was only paid back when it came out in a tribunal, got the job as been a ex and that was all, a horrible woman all together.
it was totally in the corrupt Fianna fails pocket and a hymn sheet for the party, wouldnt believe their weather forecast to be honest.

I would rather use amuse-gueule. "consumed by greed" ah ha madame, of course you are correct much better IF she were really the epitome of Grace, they wouldn't have to be saying it so much, they're trying to convince people with their pathetic manipulation. fortunately, one viewing of their photos side by side, put to rest any notion she's now or will ever be like Princess Grace. it's almost cruel to compare this ugly, plastic tranny to the beauty of Grace, but the flunkies keep doing it and rational people keep laughing about it.
