I couldn't find a specific thread on the subject, and I was so riveted by this article about Sir Moss on female F1 drivers, that I felt I should share. It's so indicative of the chauvinism that feeds that world. The poor guy may just not be able to articulate his views on women properly due to a language handicap or he's just bitter he never won a Grand Prix but if he's trying to demoralize Suzie Wolff, I think instead he made himself irrelevant and insignificant. Talk about worse Foot in Mouth disease than mine! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/22083547

Has anyone mentioned Michael Shumacher being in a coma? Similar scenario to Natasha Richardson on the ski slopes. Godspeed Shumacher! Hopefully they got him in surgery on time. m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-25545993

Has anyone mentioned Michael Shumacher being in a coma? Similar scenario to Natasha Richardson on the ski slopes. Godspeed Shumacher! Hopefully they got him in surgery on time. m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-25545993Actually Natasha fell during a sking lesson ON the slopes and underestimated the impact of her fall, declining medical help. I don't remember if she was wearing a helmet. Schumacher skied with his son OFF slopes in high speed, taking unnecessary risks. Same behaviour he showed during his racing career. IMO he led his life asking for it and has thus far gotten away with it. This was probably the one time too many he was pushing his luck. If you play Russian roulette, you shouldn't be surprised if you have a bullet heading your way. I feel sorry for his son to have witnessed the accident. Just lucky he wasn't victim of an accident. Still he has enough money and knows enough doctors who are all headed his way. SO he gets better treatment than any normal person under the same circumstances. Not that it will be of much use...

His condition is the same as hers was. Concussion, "walk and die" syndrome then rapid deterioration, hemorrage and swollen brain, induced coma etc. For her, they lost precious time. She should have been airlifted to the Montreal Royal Vic hospital. Shumacher is luckier, stronger and I'm praying for him.

Slight improvement after a brain scan, good news! Meanwhile, they say if only he could hear all the good things people are saying about him. twitter is awash with good wishes. Come on, Michael! No skier wishes what happened on anyone. Nice things people are saying by David Coulthard

with the kind of injuries he has it is highly unlikely that he will be much more then a vegetable. He has several bleedings and lots of bruising in different parts of his brain that are not accessible. What I find despicable is how his manager is trying to spindoctor the accident while he is fighting for his life. That they try to get the son out of the story, I can understand, but they ought to simply ask the journalists and I am sure they would oblidge, especially if they have another bone to throw them. Inventing a story, which is hardly credible and barely supported by the facts of his injuries to save his image.
German media was last night pretty much treating his accident as if he was already dead. His main channel seems to be wanting to cash in on him as much as they can while they still can...

How all around German. Maybe that's why he ran away to be with Italians ; ) He's not an ordinary man, why dismiss him yet?! Keep the love coming, I say. It moves mountains. Italians? He first lived in MC and then moved to Switzerland for tax reasons. Where he lives he can basically decide himself, how much tax he is paying. If he would have been given the same opportunity in Germany, he'd probably still be living in his hometown, where both he and his wife have strong ties. He worked for Italians, because they paid him the most. But he started and ended his career with Mercedes. As to the rest, he has a 60% chance of survival and a minimal chance of a full recovery. If he survives the next 48 hrs, he may live. But how? His fitness may play in his favour, but his medical record of numerous prior accidents and traum to his brain may be against him. I am not a doctor, but having a severe accident at 300km/h traumatisizes your brain, even if you do not suffer head injuries. Think shaking baby... He has had that plenty of times live on TV during his career and uncounted times during practice. Maybe that's the reason why his brain reacted with massive bleeding all over the place. Maybe he really didn't go as fast as the doctors concluded by his injuries. But then maybe someone ought to tell those racedrivers what longterm damage their sport can do to them without them really noticing. I believe in football they have noticed sth like that and we know that boxers have similar risks. So to me it is not unthinkable that race drivers may encounter the same... I am a realist and I think it never helps to ignore the facts and burry your head in the sand or nurture false hope. It's better to prepare yourself for the worst and then be positively surprised than putting your hopes up and be even more devastated when your false hopes get shattered. But everyone has their own way of dealing with matters of life and death. My concern is always with those I know will survive and having to deal with it. Those need help and support. The rest is taken care of by doctors and nature.

He blinked. They're waking him up slowly. Go Michael. I've been cringing, thinking of the decisions his wife might face but I envy her too, because if he makes it out of this, there will be no feeling quite like it. Go Michael. Come back. If anyone can do it, you can! The Telegraph

Behind every great man, there really is a great woman. Corinna hasn't stopped talking to her husband, hours on end. This is a wife, ladies and gentlemen. In the classiest, most devoted sense of the word. Hang in there Corinna! Articlr

Encouraging signs. Staying pragmatic and hopeful at the same time. The strategy of no time limit recovery is the best. I never rooted more for the guy. They say his friends talk to him all the time, Jean Todt for one, trying to stimulate the champion in him. He's going to win this too! Go Michael! Forza Schumacher! Small signs of recovery

Corinna Shumacher is unwavering though some people are starting to dismiss her as being in denial. Clearly, there was a good reason Michael Shumacher married this woman - she will go the distance. I'm %150 behind this champion wife: Go Corinna!
