I knew Queen Fabiola wasn't well. RIP.
I can still remember when she married King Baudoin of the Belgians in 1960 making her Queen Consort of the Belgians.
They were both conservative catholics. I suppose the religious funeral will be held in a very strict mode with many world royals and heads of state attending.
Current oldest reigning by age:
Elizabeth II (UK + Commonwealth) b. 21 April 1926 Bhumibol Adulyadej (Thailand) b. 5 December 1927 Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (Kuwait) b. 16 June 1929 Akihito (Japan) b. 23 December 1933

The King of Thailand is very weak, I fear he will be next and his immensely unpopular son succeeds the throne.
Anyone knows if one of the Grimaldis is going to the funeral?

it is a big funeral - everyone is expected. I can confirm Empress Michiko is on her way. I sent an alert message to Japanese plane spotters to be on the look out. Got pictures of her beautiful B747 today. In fact it is for the use of the imperial family and the Japanese Government. They don't waste money over there. Japan PM stayed in a cheap hotel at the G-20 summit in Brisbane. A ridiculous cost of $170 a night the cheapest of all State visitors at G-20. He used the same aircraft as Empress Michiko. One of the two. They are twin aircraft, JASF1 and JASF2 also known as Cygnus 1 and Cygnus 2. I am not sure which Cygnus Mrs. Empress is using for the trip. I will find out later. There will be plane spotters at landing in Belgium no doubt.

Taking a look at Le Soir. There will be no British royals at the funeral. They will be represented by the British Ambassador in Belgium. He will be the highest UK official attending. The State funeral will take place at the Cathedral of Brussels at 10.00 AM. There will be a "Last goodbye to Queen Fabiola" ceremony later in the day at the Our Lady of Laeken church. This ceremony will mostly be attended by members of Queen Fabiola's residence and also by members of the general public who had requested registrations to participate. www.lesoir.be/731609/article/actualite/belgique/2014-12-11/funerailles-fabiola-beaucoup-musique-cathedrale-temoignage-du-personnel-laekenMusic shall be taking an important place at the Cathedral according to the staff at Laeken.

Felipe, Letizia and Sofia of Spain were going to. One of the Grimaldis should go, too... but i guess they are too busy with the Messiahs births.

Queen Fabiola bequeathed her inheritance to the "Works of the Queen". It will go to the disadvantaged people in Belgium.
By a will made in the last years of her life, Queen Fabiola decided to bequeath all her private assets to the "Works of the Queen" charity. This non-profit organization was created to celebrate the wedding of Baudouin and Fabiola in 1960, to provide emergency aid and limited to the most disadvantaged and needy in Belgium.

they say that the funeral of Queen Fabiola today will be the largest royalty event of the year. (Yet there is disappointment at Laeken: the British Court sends no one today).
King Philippe of Belgium and Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg to bear their aunt. Are also present in Laeken: three current monarchs - King Carl Gustaf of Sweden, Queen Margrethe of Denmark and King Harald of Norway - two former monarchs - Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands and King Juan Carlos of Spain - and the Japanese Empress Michiko. The monarchies of Liechtenstein, Morocco and Thailand are also represented...

Michiko is so regal, like a royal from the 19th Century. Felipe and Leti weren't there but JC and Sofia, which I thought was appropriate. Well no one from Monaco, but even worse no one from the UK! Not even Prince Michael of Kent. But anyway the funeral was very moving and very much Fabiola.

Beautiful eulogy by her two employees. Well done. Very touching. They drew a portrait of an excellent woman.

Well, I hope no Belgian Royals will make the trip for QEII's funeral. Their wrong doing here is a scandal. Prince Charles should have made the trip. They are right across the Channel. They have all the facilities. When you see that 80 year old Empress Michiko did a special flight roundtrip to be in Belgium for Fabiola's funeral, getting off the flight to the ceremony and straight back on her flight, 20++ hours up in the air to make the trip it makes you wonder. She commands respect. The British Royals are showbiz. The House of Grimaldi are circus. The circus is in Monaco 365 days out of the year. Philippe and Mathilde are keeping to the old tradition and so are the Grand Ducal family of Luxembourg. No cheating. They are natural. They are showing themselves as they are, old fashioned education in the same line as King Baudoin and Queen Fabiola. We are seeing the old traditional monarchy disappearing little by little which I find is very, very sad. I captured some nice screenshots during both services at the Cathedral and Laeken which I will keep as a memory of my youth's most favourite royal, Queen Fabiola, Queen of the Belgians, a genuine people's Queen. RIP Queen Fabiola of Belgium (born Doña Fabiola de Mora y Aragón) You will be missed by many.

Shame on the British Royals and Monaco clowns. The kids are very cute, poor Gabriel. He was very moved.
