www.iol.co.za/news/world/monaco-folk-don-t-get-me-1.722657‘Monaco folk don’t get me’November 6 2010 at 12:55pm By Staff Reporters iol news pic Charlene Wittstock and price albert nov 06 REUTERS Former South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock, set to become the next Princess of Monaco when she marries the late Princess Grace’s son Prince Albert, has spoken out about her loneliness and the envy she has encountered in glittering Monaco. “The people I mixed with in Monaco didn’t relate to my South African mentality or humour,” the Olympic backstroke swimmer who was born in the then Rhodesia, tells England’s Tatler magazine in its December cover story. She originally lived in Benoni but trained extensively in Durban and Richards Bay before moving to Monaco about four years ago. “Of course I’ve been subject to jealousy, but that comes with the territory. Although I have met some wonderful people since I’ve been living in Monaco, I regard them all as acquaintances. I only have two people I consider friends here.” The jealousy is bound to get worse when royal watchers get a peek at her Tatler debut: Wittstock was photographed dripping in diamonds and looking completely regal in a white gown and tight bun on the mag’s cover, set to hit newsstands this week. Among the trials and tribulations Wittstock, 32, has encountered in the last decade while knowing, dating and then being engaged to the 52-year-old son of Prince Rainer and former screen queen Grace Kelly, was the fashion mistake she made at the August 2006 Red Cross Ball – when she arrived in a green, sequined halter-top gown. The press dubbed her “Albert’s Mermaid”. Wittstock said: “I was used to living in a swimsuit and totally clueless about fashion. “I borrowed a green dress from a friend, fixed my hair myself and painted my nails red. I looked like a Christmas tree.” Wittstock said that she and the prince were “sports fanatics, especially (about) rugby”. She added: “I’ve introduced Albert to cricket and he loves it.” Wittstock also spoke of an encounter with Prince Harry. She said: “I met Harry at a polo match in July. What an incredible young man. I’m really hoping I get to know him better.” Set to marry in July, Wittstock expresses a hope she can use her influence to help modernise the 900-year-old principality, and would like to see Monaco finally have a Manolo Blahnik boutique and a Starbucks. Comparisons between Princess Grace and Wittstock have been widespread, with many Monégasques hoping that the next Princess of Monaco will inject some vitality and glamour which has been lacking since Princess Grace’s heyday. Since Grace’s death in a car crash in 1982, the Grimaldi family have been embroiled in controversies surrounding the failed marriages of Prince Albert’s sisters, Princess Caroline and Princess Stephanie, and the recent admission by Prince Albert that he fathered an illegitimate son with a Togolese flight attendant, prior to his relationship with Wittstock.

Thanks so much for starting this thread Refia! WE lost so much at Royaldish. This Tatler interview really exposed the true Charlene. It's too bad many people didn't actually read the entire interview beyond the over photo shopped photos and the Telegraph article. Here is the link to all the scans. I'll post to the thread each of th worded pages. Page 168

One of her worst interviews...one of the many to come. I doubt she will ever have a good interview. She is just too dumb to make something good. "To catch a Prince" I still smile everytime i read that title!

She looks like an alien in that cover and the editorial is not much better. I find tacky that she posed in the palace when she is still the fiancée. And all the name dropping Juan Carlos is his godfather? According to this --> www.monte-carlo.mc/index-prince_albert-en.html he is not. And the SRF with Monaco do not mix since the infamous question when deciding which city would get the 2012 Olympics.

Yes thanks for starting this thread, because I really wanted to say about it--I just read the toatl interview and saw the pictures. I was too busy to post at the time, and wasn't sure people were still interest--so glad you posted it. Do we have the Vogue.com photo op where she invites the media on her wedding day. It's funny because High Society was on today, and of course the story is about how the family is being blackmailed into having to let a magazine cover Tracy's wedding...it's such a low and distasteful thing to have to do. Grace also had to del with the same in her real life, to get out of her contract with MGM--she said she hated it, unlike Charlene who can not court enough press, she invites them into the most intimate part of her wedding day.

sandsla : you mentioned the very point: "to get out of her contract with MGM" Charlene had no such job and no profession to live on. She was a swimmer with no perspective after swimming = age of 25/26. She wanted the media because she had nothing.

This wedding was her very first job for MC. ANd she passed. Trashy failed her first asseignment. MGM paid for a large part of the wedding, MC gained on the wedding. trashys wedding was way more expensive and paid for by mc. MC lost a huge amount of moneyplus received more negative press as a result of it. No matter how the pro and con list is run, trashy always scores as fail.

Here’s the link to her civil wedding day Vogue interview that she actually does on her wedding day. This is Charlene’s way of pissing on all those who stated that she would NEVER become Princess Charlene of Monaco. In this interview she reveals what I claim is her scheming nature of setting up photos – “It is a shame that those rumors came at such a bad time, but I think they were timed to sabotage such a happy occasion. They are categorical lies. I won’t dignify them with any response other than to say that the photographs of me and Albert in love and getting married will speak louder than any vicious gossip and empty rumors.”Here's the direct link to ANOTHER set of photos that she did the next day before the religious wedding. Look at this bitchstock face – it’s screaming “I won you BITCHES!” Here’s her first Vogue interview that she does in New York and she insults Monaco in so many ways and makes a fool of herself proclaiming herself a style icon.

Remember Ester begging us to just let Charlene have the Fairytale wedding that Albert OWED her--like any psychopath they hate the people who on to them and can expose them and worse, can get in their way--she obviously saw the people on the forum as a threat to her end goal! It's trpical that she thinks it's about her, and not about the destruction of Monaco, and everyone in it.
