I still have to reconcile this impression with Eringer's about Albert being smitten with her. It has bugged me ever since I read it. The two opinions effectively mutually exclusive and it doesn't sit very well with me. Employee or smitten? Sometimes I wonder if we (I) are not so biased that we overlook something. Just swiping Eringer on the heap of sugar-overdosing sugars somehow... nah, maybe not. [/quote] I actually spent a bit of time speaking with Albert in the months following his father's death and it was very clear to me that he was absolutely ripe for the picking by just about any woman who wanted him. He was absolutely- clearly - looking for someone and I felt that if the right woman came along it would be very good for him - however, I also knew that because he was vulnerable the wrong type of woman could very easily come along and nail him. (Just for the record -not me -he's crazy but not insane! I'm way too old and my daughters were already married.) Unfortunately, the wrong woman came along. A decent, intelligent woman would have realized he was too vulnerable after his father's death and tried to hold him at bay for several months before getting him or herself emotionally and sexually involved. And in all probability this is just what happened. I'm positive there were several woman who could have been wonderful for him that were interested - however, they were intelligent enough, and had enough awareness of human behavior that if Albert were to choose to start "courting them" at that point, his love would have been misplaced. He would have been loving them for the wrong reasons and it would not last. (Which is what I'm sure happened with CW and now he's stuck.) CW represented everything Rainier (and Grace) would have rejected - PA WAS FEELING LIKE HIS OWN MAN - FREE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS LIFE WITHOUT HIS FATHER INTERFERING. That was the excitement Eringer was picking up on. Not PA's being truly 'smitten' with CW - although I doubt Albert understood what was going on with him emotionally. PA rebelled big time and basically said "screw you" to his father. His initial excitement with CW was nothing more than his feeling FREE for the first time in his life. He was making his own decisions! No one was telling him NO. He and everyone else misinterpreted this for his being "in love". The manipulators who had their own agenda encouraged him with CW because they knew she would not only keep him distracted, but she was too stupid to be of any help advising Albert - Therefore they could get away with so much more. They also knew she was so desperate and hungry they could manipulate and control her with stupid promises, money, clothes, and fame. Then the dye was cast and Albert being true to form and taking the path of least resistance kept with the program. It was too inconvenient for him, and too late to turn back. JMO

This is about how I saw it. I do think originally Albert was receptive to Charlene for all the reasons you mention and then some , but I think he also fell out of favor with her too, especially when she early on already had herself married to him. He dated her privately for a year after her original introduction and the flaunting of her in the media. Albert probably continued to see her privately, because he wasn't really seeing anyone else, and she was eager and available, and I'm sure Charlene took advantage and saw how she had to try to play a different game, since Albert had demoted her and their relationship in the press. Not that a smart women with some empathy for Albert would know and insist on keeping the relationship private not just for Albert's sake, but her own. A smart descent woman would have not wanted herself or her relationship flaunted in the press for many reasons. As you mentioned, she would have wanted to make sure Albert was interested in her for the right reasons, and a descent person is not happy to take advantage of someone that is vulnerable--they would have been happier to see Albert overcome his vulnerabilities. It's also not a real feather in a woman's cap for a man to be interested because he's vulnerable or weak. No woman would be able to hold their head up with what Charlene did or the impression of the person she is. I think a better woman would have helped to build Albert up, and been smart enough to lay low and take the relationship slowly as it should have been. Albert has some insecurities that made him ask Charlene out in the first place, plus I am sure he had the idea of dating a woman who fit the idea he had in mind to promote--that he and his wife were athletes, and that would be his platform. He should have worried about the real things that are important and the rest would have fallen in place.

I agree but what is interesting is that these are the traits Kate Middleton possesses yet she is called all sorts of names starting with "waity Katie", now lazy Katie etc. Personally I think Kate knows how to build a relationship and puts that first and herself second. I think what Eringer saw was Albert with a new "toy" the forbidden one. The one Mom and Dad said no too. I also wonder what it was about Charlene in bed that kept him occupied for the first year or so. After that she was a convenience when he wanted to present himself to the world as in a relationship (or at least what he thought was a grown up relationship). I have often read that Rainier talked down to Grace and made fun of her Flower arrangements. I don't know how true this was because I can't see Grace putting up with it, but the question nags at me because of the way Albert treats women. There is no respect ever. He's polite, and charming when he wants to be, but I suspect he can also be spoiled, manipulative, and cruel too - in the latter regard perhaps Charlene is a mirror image? JMO.

i totally agree! i'll bet he's really nasty and bitter now that the tranny hasn't "saved" moronaco and they are still nobodies on the world stage. i'll bet he's cruel, manipulative and dismissive. they are a mirror image NOT a good sign at all ;D it'll make good reading in her book after the divorce.

Remember the wedding - when Charlene started crying? He was as dismissive and as curt as possible to her.

it's super sugar. We need to remember that TF1 is Sarko TV. When Sarko wants an interview to appear not bought he goes to France 2. I think that says everything about the value of this piece. Besides it's in a sugar show...

thanks paca! with the sound turned off, the weird body language is even stronger. he looks like he's getting a whiff of a bad odor and she looks like she's all coked up, bright eyed and manic.

The body language speaks volumes, even if you are not an expert one can realize that those two are bad actors trying to look in love/into each other. The Rose Ball for example, in the begining of the footage when they enter, Albert took her arm, but the space there is between them, it fits for another person in the middle! LOL

The whole thing was another PR failure. They rehash the Matt Lauer interview where Albert says there was envy and jealousy. Yup we're all envious and jealous that's why we say such nice things about Kate Middleton and Victoria of Sweden (cute baby Vicky!). LOL

The envy and jealous comment coming straight from Albert's mouth reminds me so very much of what they flunkies say all the time...that comment is Charlene's, no Albert's. Is like Charlene says that all the time and Albert picked it up, and we know Charlene says that all the time on boards.

ROFL thanks for that little tidbit smt!! good job flying monkey flunkies (clap clap clap) keep up the good work........moronaco is doomed
of the 4 my vote is victoria, she was floating on air (and i'm old enought to have watched diana get married live at 4 am in the morning) even then i felt she was the lamb to the slaughter) . hmmmm mary didn't make it either ;P
speaking of mary, on another board there is actually someone called "flying flunky" she tried the sugah bit in the monaco threads but it's a hopeless battle, it's not very well followed and people don't like the non dynamic duo. she comes on and flames the trio and caroline, it doesn't work. trashlene is charmless, it's a done deal, if they were going to be a celebrity couple it would have happened YEARS AGO, flagship charlene didn't get out of the dock, it sunk in port lalalalaslalala i love it when we're right LOL
