Your post reminded me of a J.D. Salinger short story called "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" It's about Seymour Glass who is on his honeymoon and whose wife spends all her time in the hotel room beautifying herself. Seymour goes for a swim where he talks to a little girl on a raft. He tells her it's a perfect day for bananafish. The little girl asks what they are and he tells her they happily stuff themselves so full that they die. He then goes back to the hotel room and kills himself. Well, that's the gist of it. Salinger is a brilliant story-teller. I'm not. Hibou, you too are brilliant teller too, for I remember you told this at the RedForum too.Good for us does that mean that Albert will decide to chose his 6th anniversary of disaster reign to call it quits and kill himself whilst trashy is sitting in some hotel with a voguereporter chatting about the importance of botox to get a prince and her Charlene lipstick? after what he just did to monaco I can't even say it's a bad idea. At least they can go straight from wedding to funeral and trashy can wear another favourite black outfit. Heaps of young tourists would be flocking to MC to catch Andrea and Albert would have finally done his PR stunt. he might even get some credit for dedication to the cause for once

It just seems to fit these two. Albert is self-destructing fast. The trio are the ones that will attract the younger jet-set crowd and bring life back to Monaco. I agree it's the allure of spotting one of these beautiful young things that will attrack the young crowd. Now that Albert is losing key members of his staff, things are really going from bad to worse.

Isn´t it telling that Albert, head of a catholic state isn´t going to Otto von Habsburgs funeral? Or sending one of the family? All other catholic Royals are going.

^Emmeline, If Caroline takes over, she will have one of her sons on the throne in probably 5 years, way before 'the heir' is an adult. She will want to let them get started, but be there if troubles ensue. Rainier should have done this and then he would have seen that Albert only wants to be Prince for the parties and attention. He has zero interest in the work involved. To me, Albert showed that he was not up for the job when he had not married and produced an heir by the time he was 40. That should have been the easiest part of the job, but he has shown his total incompetency by mucking that up. Once he failed to do that, Rainier should have looked for a new heir. Ranier could have done what Hans Adam of Liechtenstein has done by retaining his position of reigning prince, but handing most of his powers and responsibilities to his son. This allows him to step in and check his son since he's still the reigning prince. Of course Ranier could have done better, but he did the best he could. Albert should be ashamed of himself. As far as the Otto funeral, did they even invite the Monaco Princely Family? I wouldn't be surprised if they did not.

Caro or her husband could have gone though...

I would have thought that people express their condolences and pay their respects if they had ties with that person. I don't know how they do these things in certain circles, but usually family and friends get informed by those close to the deceased and everyone else via the press with details on where the funeral is held and when and family wishes. If the family allows it, those who wish, can pay their respect in person.

Other crowned present: king Carl Gustaf of Sweden and queen Silvia, the Luxembourg Grand Duke Henri and prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein. Also the former kings of Romania and Bulgaria were present. See here for photo’s: www.standaard.be/artikel/detail.aspx?artikelid=DMF20110716_044&word=astrid

On Eringer today someone posted that Monaco Hebdo has an article out where Albert tries to dismiss Eringer. It's not available on line yet so if someone can get their hands on it that would be great. Eringer is supposedly going to post a response to the article sometime today or tonight.

So he's now using Andrea as a draw card for attention? Or is he not planning on having kids with Charlene? Why get married and suddenly have the trio doing things around Monaco? We saw this with Pierre earlier this summer. Or was it simply that Andrea was in town and decided to go to the game?

In the last picture low and behold one of the slurpstocks - Gareth - no wonder Albert is chewing his hand. Gareth is there to make sure anything that is said goes back to Charlene.

Are you taking about this guy in the lower left corner? He doesn't look like Gareth to me. What do others think - is it him? Do you believe that Gareth will go to an event and sit in Albert's box without Charlene? Good lawd, if so, the Wittstocks have really taken over and as Seam mentioned they are part of the royal family.

I think it might be one of them. But Albert and Andrea most likely speak in French, so I doubt that he would understand anything. Unless the brothers learned French, which I doubt. Besides Albert and Andrea could easily swap to Italian But I suspect that trashy and her lot feel safer having an eye on the cow they are milking. then again the guy is separated by a plastic thing form the box...

Mmm...he kinda looks like Gareth. Kinda. But, it would be useless for him, as Albert and Andrea are surely speaking in french. Good to see the Casiraghis with Albert.

I don't think they met each other in the game. Maybe Albert realizes that the Trio is the best for image for Monaco (at least for that).
