not to make you spend money, but there is a book that you may want to order. several choices online. i doubt if you are going to find in the library. some used copies are very reasonable. i guess the Al and Charlz chapter is being written now. Yuck...
Sex with Kings: Five Hundred Years of Adultery, Power, Rivalry, and Revenge
by Eleanor Herman
Overview
Throughout the centuries, royal mistresses have been worshiped, feared, envied, and reviled. They set the fashions, encouraged the arts, and, in some cases, ruled nations. Eleanor Herman's Sex with Kings takes us into the throne rooms and bedrooms of Europe's most powerful monarchs. Alive with flamboyant characters, outrageous humor, and stirring poignancy, this glittering tale of passion and politics chronicles five hundred years of scintillating women and the kings who loved them.
Curiously, the main function of a royal mistress was not to provide the king with sex but with companionship. Forced to marry repulsive foreign princesses, kings sought solace with women of their own choice. And what women they were! From Madame de Pompadour, the famous mistress of Louis XV, who kept her position for nineteen years despite her frigidity, to modern-day Camilla Parker-Bowles, who usurped none other than the glamorous Diana, Princess of Wales.
The successful royal mistress made herself irreplaceable. She was ready to converse gaily with him when she was tired, make love until all hours when she was ill, and cater to his every whim. Wearing a mask of beaming delight over any and all discomforts, she was never to be exhausted, complaining, or grief-stricken.
True, financial rewards for services rendered were of royal proportions — some royal mistresses earned up to $200 million in titles, pensions, jewels, and palaces. Some kings allowed their mistresses to exercise unlimited political power. But for all its grandeur, a royal court was a scorpion's nest of insatiable greed, unquenchable lust, and vicious ambition. Hundreds of beautiful women vied to unseat the royal mistress. Many would suffer the slings and arrows of negative public opinion, some met with tragic ends and were pensioned off to make room for younger women. But the royal mistress often had the last laugh, as she lived well and richly off the fruits of her "sins."
From the dawn of time, power has been a mighty aphrodisiac. With diaries, personal letters, and diplomatic dispatches, Eleanor Herman's trailblazing research reveals the dynamics of sex and power, rivalry and revenge, at the most brilliant courts of Europe. Wickedly witty and endlessly entertaining, Sex with Kings is a chapter of women's history that has remained unwritten — until now.

You can't entirely blame Charlene. Prince Albert loves the hooker look, no? She is dressing to please her man. my thoughts exactly. he did not marry her with the concept of a real wife but out of necessity and because she could be manipulated (and vise verse). why not use his mate as bait? russians will be the sugar-daddies in the bail out plan for the principality. the russians have shoved out the french, italians and arabs and will take over so why not use charlz as the lure. we all keep acting appalled with her behavior and dress code when Al knows exactly what she is doing. SEX is a big part of their fiber (swinging) and they are working with it. (remember her time on the yacht with the rich couple?) they will go down as amongst the most decadent.

The news that the white Fiat Uno that was reported in the tunnel was never traced is untrue. That's just what the police claim but they never bothered to check. In fact, Mohamed al Fayed's people tracked down the car to a garage to which it had been sold and its rear wing had been repaired - exactly where the fragments found by the police in the tunnel originated. Here's the car: encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQMKME08oIG27fKzhase8JsvrM371mIdRaGR--B-tlssZ9wnCAsUwIt was owned by James Andanson, a notorious French paparazzo and MI6 free-lance agent, who was eventually found dead with two bullet holes in his head inside his burnt-out car at a remote spot. He had photographed Diana and Dodi on their yacht a few days before and had started to brag about being in the tunnel when the "accident" happened. He was murdered by a Yugloslav free-lance agent code-name "T" who had worked on the billionaire Edmond Safra murder case. :-( hello madameconcorde, anything else we can know about agent code-name "T" regarding the Safra case? was he directly involved in the incident or investigation?

How's this?... Maybe Caroline should have stayed stuck with Junot, save the Vatican its breath, so she could have been shelved somewhere in Switzerland like the others while Junot pawned Madoff's Ponzi scheme to their royal friends. At least Monaco wouldn't be on the verge of ridiculing itself as a Catholic state. More...? Stefano Casiraghi might still be alive today. agentf, thanks for the insight. i did not know that Junot was working for De la Villehuchet, 65, (who committed suicide) and tapped his European connections to lure clients basically for the Madoff scheme!.

Oh rofl that has to be her worst hairdo ever. Did she roll out of bed and didn't get ready in time? The dress is horrid on her. I'm getting really sick and tired of that naked look. If you want to look naked, then don't put any clothes on. btw looks like not only her hair got puffed up, her face looks puffy too... And here I was thinking the windswept look, looked good on her. I thought she was going for the Russian model look and of course failed. The lips are puffy again so I guess she got a reload in Paris. Her whole face is most definitely puffy. The facial expression, I don't know, I'm undecided if it's her "bitch" look or she's partly drugged or drunk, not sure, but she definitely looks kinda glazed. JMO stoli anyone?

I think the photo is from a dinner that Fat Al hosted in honor of the 20th (or 30th) anniversary of Monaco being admitted to the UN. And, yes, your comment is spot-on: she wears that to ANY event? She looks like a hooker picked up right off Times Square. Again, wearing sandals and showing her flipper polished toes to dignitaries. she's dressed for a night club. she needs to take some leads from the First Lady who is more modest.

oh my the whole riviera is threatened! the below is from the Riviera Times... i am sure other media will report this as well. not a safe place. maybe some copy cat Pink Panther or the real one(s)?? Friday 16th August 2013 "Nice struck by hotel robbery trend Two masked men burst into the lobby of Nice’s Palais de la Méditerranée brandishing guns and hammers in the early hours of 16th August. The sun had barely risen on the Promenade des Anglais when the thieves charged in through the hotel entrance, threatened a terrified receptionist and smashed up the exhibits. Initial reports suggest a number of Rolex and Lepage watches were stolen in the incident, the latest in a string of high profile holdups in the Côte d’Azur." FINALLY! I'm sure the jewelers from Monaco will be there, too! From today's Riviera Radio: "Jewellers to meet - Jewellers from all over the Côte d'Azur will meet on Friday to discuss ways of making their job safer. It comes after a series of high-profile robberies around Cannes this summer, and the controversy surrounding a Nice jeweller who shot dead a robber last week. The meeting takes place in Nice. The interior minister Manuel Valls visited the city yesterday to meet shopkeepers."

Melanie is actually quite pretty. With a slight change of wardrobe, different hairdo and make up she could be quite stunning. She was actually the one you'd see around town most of all the lot. She was always with Antoinette and of course with her mum. She is often standing in for trashy with Albert too. I like her. Btw I never saw her partying around like Steph or Albert. She either is very discrete or doesn't go out much other then to official engagements and private invitations... She's like an Adele. One day she'll emphasize her eyes, do up her hair and she'll be devastating. Lots of time. that's great advice and appropriate comparison. maybe mellanie will read this or it will filter down to her!

Drunken Oktoberfest biergarten waitresses look more alluring and feminine than CC does in this outfit that doesn't look either like it's made to start off the evening with its sleeves pushed down the arms. With her unkempt hair and messy face, she looks more like she's been roughed up against a wall than someone who spent not even an hour getting ready before attending. She's the only one who manages to look undressed among the entire gathering. As a mother I wouldn't let my child be handled by someone with no modesty whatsoever. again, as if there was no one from the palais, including Al, to approve the outfit, thus the bold, bare shoulders. besides, they have become her signature. more like a peasant tart than a princess.

i.imgur.com/CIsk9aD.jpgShe looks frightening, the original corpse bride. I hope she stops with the surgeries, that can´t be healthy. if it were not for the short hair, i would have thought it was her mother, Lynnette.

Today is the 32nd anniversary of Grace's passing. I wonder if her successor (ahem!) as Princess of Monaco even knows this! Sad ... very, very sad turn of events. thank you for reminding us smt. after all Princess Grace is our inspiration forever, and forever we will carry her torch. that's why i love the rose like she did.

You left out that her make up stops at her chin line. Her teeth look like dentures not implants or veneers. I wonder if she did a lifestyle lift and the skin is now sagging again, or perhaps they have to lay off the fillers for a while? Or, may be they took out the oversize cheek implants. I don't know but it looks really really bad in broad day light. May be she should only show her face at night? I think she has more wrinkles than I do and I'm older than Albert! JMO. yes her cheeks look different (did she use to have a dimple?) and her neck looks fat that way. I have noticed before that she doesn't do her make up properly. After all those years of getting plastered she should know that you don't stop at the chinline (well it is slightly below) if you don't want to look like you are wearing a mask... bottom line, again i feel sorry for the tots and parents that are sucked into these photos ops, when this narcissistic alien could give a rat's A#@! about children. she could have made it possible for her husband to embrace his blood-line and she condemned it.

I'm struck by a quote in an article about shadow banking today (Reuters): the financial sector which had spent years trying to avoid regulation, began begging for government bailouts. My mind processes this as in the case of Monaco joining the EU, it would end up have to bail out other countries and that's probably why the EU would court Monaco to join, not to give it trade breaks IMO. thanks for your comment agentf. monaco would not want to bail out other countries. they don't even like bailing out their own residents in a humane way. i witnessed a long-time elder resident (stricken by a disease) being harassed by their greedy employees, crushed by a thieving family member and then victimized by a "Brit consultant" who illegally closed his business. this guy was never reprimanded by the "honorary" Brit consul after the elder lost his residency. this elder person finally got some judicial assistance in monaco (barely) and was lucky to receive the kindness french government to help him find a proper care home. his small monaco pension was almost useless. all the "bull S" by Al saying how important the elderly are in monaco is utter "hog wash." even the charity (related to his illness) run by a big builder in monaco would not offer support because the elder person had just lost residency. sorry to ramble but don't get old and have problems in monaco because you will be ostracized, kicked to the curb, forced to leave and fin for yourself. long time loyalty to the government and society means absolutely nothing. so best to have a plan "B." monaco would only use EU connections to tout their perks to offer to the fleeing rich from other counties.
