Seeing photos of PA expressing "interest" in what goes on in the Principality is alright with me. I agree with Chriss regarding all the other photo ops in other "necks of the woods" ... My issue with PA is he does too many of these EVERYWHERE. Almost like he's trying to make a point, see how hard I work. No, you just like to travel and present the appearance you're working hard buster! Honestly, I can't bear to watch him sit his rear end in another electric car. I mean they could recycle his goofy butt smiling, sitting in some hybrid car in a well lit venue from years ago and I bet we wouldn't know the difference.

After Will & Kate's wedding what do any of you think PA's p.r. machine can do to drum up interest in their Street Fair Wedding? Between exorbitant costs spent by media organizations in Britain to what is being sent to cover the devastation in Japan following the quake, tsunami/nuclear disaster AND covering the chaos in the Middle East/North Africa -- will these two matter or just be feed video/interviews that organizations piece together? news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110311/ap_on_en_ot/eu_britain_royal_wedding_4

"News is what someone does not want you to print - the rest is advertising..." Randolph HearstWe all have our own opinions about how CW and PA are portrayed in the media. I thought opening this thread would be a great place for analysis of photos, articles, quotes, interviews that may appear elsewhere on the board but this thread would allow for further discussion in relation to the public relations machine surrounding Monaco-land! ;D I found this interesting 2003 article by Corporate Watch regarding P.R./Lobbying Industry. Maybe you agree or disagree. On the link is also an interesting write-up about legal and other actions taken to stop stories. www.corporatewatch.org/?lid=1572"...As the primary point of contact between businesses and the media, PR people can control access to information which journalists want. This gives them tremendous leverage in negotiating with journalists, as they are in a position to refuse information..."
"One of the primary tools for supplying content to the media is the press release. ... Ideally the press release will provide a publishable article that a over-worked (or lazy) journalist can publish with minimal effort. Anyone with much experience of press searching will have noticed how the same article can appear in several different publications under different names, with only minute changes."
"Although the bribing of journalists and or editors to run certain stories is held to be quite rare in Western Europe and North America ... some questionable traditions have developed. One relationship-building practice is known as 'selling in'. Journalists are employed as freelancers by a PR agency to write up stories on behalf of a client and to then sell them on to the press. The newspaper then never knows that it is carrying PR and the practice saves a lot of effort for the PR agency"
"PR companies have become a necessary crutch for the media, but not one that the media is keen to investigate and expose to the public, "like an alcoholic who can't believe he has a drinking problem, members of the press are too close to their own addiction to PR to realise there is anything wrong."Best, Creative!
