Her conversion is definitely circumstantial. These people are not catholics if only by name. To my knowledge, a catholic does not do what he has done or neither what she has done. I would rather call them free-style non-followers: "I decide of what my life is going to be regardless of what the rules of the catholic church are". The Barsi will tolerate just about anything and everything provided that money will flow freely in his pockets and the best food will be served at his table each day. For Charlene this is a convenience conversion.
Money will buy everything. The catholic church has a long history of this through the centuries.Hypocrits. I'm so ticked at the Catholic Church now. There are many reason but for now I'm trying to get my son baptized -- it's been hell since my prospective godparents -- my cousin and his fiance aren't married yet -- and my cousin doesn't have a church he goes to where she lives. I've been given the 10th degree by the priest to make sure they meet with the church's approval. >:(Seriously -- I was born and raised Catholic, went to Catholic University and even was admitted into Alpha Sigma Nu - the Jesuit honor society -- CATHOLIC ENOUGH) Tired of their b.s. You should hear my banter with this priest -- as in the church needs to get its house in order blah blah. Needless to say my son won't be baptized Catholic!

MyaDia: on a personal level for charlene that is an excellent point -- she hasn't blow it for her narcissistic self - well, not yet.
I have come to the conclusion about Albert's PR team is they don't understand 21st century media but think they do. Based on what they've amateurishly put out there, it's like they're stuck in a 1950s time warp and think they can control media like it was done during this parents time. Maybe that's how things go in the Monaco bubble but definitely not outside of the principality in this day and age. It's things there have been so restricted it's killed any real widespread global interest that might have developed over the decades. Strange, considering all the time Albie spends away from Monaco he'd get it that times have changed but obviously not.

Cm_007 that's hilarious! Chriss, those are some excellent points. To answer you MyaDia --this may already be obvious to you: t-v/cable gauge is ratings -- and we get overnights; for publications, readership, sales; for the internet it is still developing but for websites in general alexa.com; for subject matter that gets into SEO [search engine optimization] and what keywords are people logging into -- you can tell by plugging in Kate Middleton or Charlene Wittstock and found out demand for them. On my particular show we can see during every quarter hour where audiences build and drop and break it down by men and women. The numbers show even if we don't lead with a Will & Kate story for our target audience [women 18-49] the audience will stick still around for it later which holds advertisers. These two rate well in other age groups as well. I believe they transcend age because of the Princess Diana factor [not to mention the night of her death and enusing media onslaught is etched inour minds] Not to mention Will & Kate are young, hip, attractive. Also -- despite their high profile lives they've never gone fishing for media attention so there has been mystery in many respects. British royal watchers may disagree BUT we're talking about mainstream consumers of information. PA and CW on the otherhand don't rate well. He's 50+ and non-royal watchers under 50 don't really know who he is. The older crowd identifies with his mother but, with the exception of maybe Entertainment Tonight which has an audience that skews older, he doesn't rate well for the majority of young hip audiences that consume entertainment. So, enter Charlene. And bear with me while I go on a tangent. Think Kardashians Okay Creative, what do those bimbos have to do with Charlene. Well, love or hate them, find them useless or amusing, they are marketing geniuses. Take Kim, Paris Hilton's former stylist. She took her sex tape fiasco and turned it into gold. I mean, who talks about her sex tape anymore. They've sold their beauty, family dynamic, produce shows behind the scenes and are making millions. Not to mention teaming up with Ryan Seacrest who has worked the media to his advantage. Ratings, readership-wise they've learned how to work the media to their advantage. Charlene blew it. Instead of taking all these years she spent with PA post swimming "career" and doing something like pursuing a university education, maybe studying multiple languages, starting bona fide charities, showing up ever so often with PA at events, never doing interviews, she instead put all her cards on the table. There's really no mystery about that girl. Seriously from those of us who have watched closely for years it seems the only thing that's changed is her face from the plastic surgery. She doesn't make for an interesting story except now what's she wearing and still the girl has, imo, no style. I work for a place that's HUGE with fashion and our audience is global -- she doesn't even register. Put that together with old, plump, balding PA, their 50 + audience and they just don't rate well. When their announcement came out -- we took the info from the Associated Press, along with our deal from AP that gives us video/photos. No effort needed, which can also be translated into why look in depth at these two when they mean nothing to our audience. So the misinformation about them, her gaffes, plastic surgery, etc slips through the cracks because a lot of media could careless about them and won't invest the resources to investigate. Just some thoughts! xxoo Creative

I'm creativemind -- which has been moniker since the royal blue days. My intent with my posts are to NEVER, EVER be disrespectful to other posters. As MyaDia, Countess, Hibs and others know my humor is sarcastic, but, when I'm not busy with my regular work I do my best to add to the conversation in a meaningful way. So my apologies in advance me if my musings get on your nerves. I'm a pretty kind, peaceful person in actuality!
My first interest in the whole "princess" thing started with Princess Grace so it follows my area of focus has been on the Grimaldi's BUT I am trying to educate myself on the other royals. If you ever have media related questions please feel free to pm me, or ask, anytime. All the best, Creative!

www.stopbeck.com is a great place to see what's been going on. it even has the list of ad rev he's lost which many believe is why he got axed. while his viewership reportedly declined somewhat i suppose it's hard to maintain when all you get are ads sold for petmeds.com kaopectate, goldline international ... hmm should tell those companies there's a wedding in monaco coming up!!!!

Hi everyone, I thought I'd make this thread my first post. Yes, Albert's PR team is run by amateurs. As we have seen they have fallen down on the job time and time again. Thanks Creative for starting this thread! welcome hibs!

Thanks Creative! We have seen proof of the palace spinning Albert's wedding as a big PR spin. As I have stated before, the media really hoodwinked Albert into this wedding because he really believed their GLOWING stories of Charlene as the new Grace. The problem is that the media has started trying to make the news instead of reporting it. In Charlene's case, the media tried to MAKE Charlene into the new Grace by their own sheer will and not the will of the people. That's why there's a BIG GAP between what the media says about Charlene and this marriage and reality in the interest of the public. We have seen Paris Match travel with Albert and Charlene to Japan and now it looks like the creepy guy from Bunter traveled with them to Ireland. The palace is still working on a fail model that they can just make the media write GLOWING stories about Charlene and this relation and thus the people will believe it. Well, there are sugar looneis that do believe these stories, but these are not the type of people that Albert is trying to attract to Monaco. The world now longer works this way in this modern mass communication era! Monaco is being run into the ground by IDIOTS![/b] and they're getting help from the delusional who'll believe anything that is written ... despite plenty of articles, quotes, photos that prove otherwise! i.e.... "the sky is blue?" "no, palace p.r. says it's pink with butterflies and fairies!!!!!!! how dare you say it's blue!!!!"

i'll betcha a $1000.00 its less than a 5 minute update at the end of real news that day. that's how much victoria's wedding got, a few minutes and it wasn't live. a bunch of our media is going to england for the live REAL Royal wedding, i can't imagine them wasting the money for the nondynamic duos business transaction on the corner. it's a non story in the states JMO i thought that video was both alarming and funny when you think about the moronaco circus, it'd be perfect to have a clown perform the ceremony totes!
