Remember the 90 year old Mavis who met Princess Charlene at the Oyster Box? Well, here’s an article in The Mercury (South Africa) where the reporter talked to Mavis about her life-time experience. Mavis seems as sweet as pie, but what’s sad is that Albert and Monaco thought the Mavises of the world who are enamored with Charlene just because she shakes hands, white, tall, thin, blond and blue eyed will make people flock to Monaco. Below is the excerpt about Mavis.
Monaco’s Newly Weds In DurbanBy Bronwyn Fourie July 7 2011
Overwhelmed with excitement and “on cloud nine”, Mavis Warder-Griffin, 90, has jokingly said she is considering never again washing her hands after touching royalty when she bumped into Monaco’s Princess Charlene at Umhlanga’s Oyster Box Hotel.
Leaving the hotel after having coffee with her daughter at the Oyster Bar, Warder-Griffin saw the princess arriving, immediately in front of her,on Tuesday.
“My golly, it had been only about 20 seconds after walking out that I saw this lovely tall person, from the rear. She then turned around and I saw it was Charlene,” she said.
“She said ‘Hello’ and put her hand out to shake mine. It was really unbelievable, all a lovely, lovely surprise. What a delightful person. It was one of those unexpected events, and I am on cloud nine. I don’t think I’ll wash my hands, I’ve touched royalty.”
Warder-Griffin’s daughter, Meryl Marshall, also had the pleasure of meeting the princess and said: “Her beauty took my breath away… She was warm and friendly and will be a wonderful ambassador for South Africa.”
The royal couple arrived at the Oyster Box Hotel after landing at King Shaka International Airport on Tuesday morning.
This evening they will celebrate their wedding with a gala cocktail party for more than 400 friends, sportsmen and high-profile guests who are in Durban for the International Olympic Committee session.

The problem with the morons in Monaco and their big predictions of an image and economic boost by Albert marrying the bimbo plastic surgery high school dropout dumb-as-a-rock Charlene is that the world is not full of sweet 90 year-old women like Mavis or the sugar loonies who praised this woman’s pure classy appearance at the Zuma lunch as elegant and classy – a perfect princess. Albert, the palace and Monaco’s officials stupidly banked their country’s future on the image of a bimbo manufactured by tabloids and urged by ignorant fans. Here’s an article by reporter who tries her best to maintain her composure as she describes the silly Charlene dressed in a halter backless see-through long dress for a luncheon with a President of a country of 50 million people. Every single journalist at that luncheon know that Charlene looked like a complete absolute FOOL with that totally inappropriate outfit – freezing her ass off. Charlene’s ignorance can be excused, but the bigger fool is Albert and Monaco not to realize how utterly a laughing they are. What is interesting is that the Riviera Times posted this entire article on their website although it is written by The Mercury reporter. Pay attention to all the details that the reporter gives – great article! I love the photo that she chose to accompany the article.
Albert and Charlene meet Jacob Zuma in DurbanRoyal couple have catch-up session with South African president at his private residence By Bronwyn Fourie 07.07.2011
Two quick blown kisses from Princess Charlene of Monaco to her new husband Prince Albert as the couple left President Jacob Zuma’s Durban residence yesterday afternoon, were a talking point for a media contingent watching the pair’s interaction like hawks, desperate to ask her whether she did in fact try and run away from her wedding at the weekend.
The couple had briefly met with the president at his Durban home for an opportunistic catch-up session while they were in the city for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) session.
In a press statement the presidency said Zuma had reaffirmed South Africa’s commitment to establish even closer relations with the Principality of Monaco, especially due to its status as a financial and tourist hub.
Leaving in separate cars from the president’s home in a race against time to get to the International Convention Centre (ICC) for the all-important IOC vote, Princess Charlene, looking radiant in a white crochet dress, bade her husband farewell after first thinking that she was travelling with him.
The quick departure by the royals and president ended a three-hour stint outside the front door of King’s House for local and international media in chilly winter afternoon weather. The trio, accompanied by Zuma’s third wife Tobeka Madiba-Zuma, had spent a mere 30 minutes inside Zuma’s Durban home, after lunch plans starting at 12:30 looked to have fallen through as a result of busy schedules.
But it was not only the media that had to wait. The royal couple had already arrived at the gates of the Morningside residence, but was not allowed to proceed further into the property until the president had arrived to greet them.
Eventually arriving, Zuma rushed into his home, only to come out again five minutes later, to officially welcome the Monaco couple.
Princess Charlene, looking a little cold in her halter-neck dress, appeared relaxed as she greeted media with casual hellos and even an excited “howzit” to some with whom she was familiar. She and Prince Albert posed briefly at the top of the stairs for photographs with the President and first lady, but did not initiate contact with each other, standing a small distance apart.
After emerging a half hour later, Zuma told media that he had not been able to attend the Royal wedding “a few weeks ago” – which was lightheartedly corrected by the Prince to “a few days ago” – and so had taken the opportunity to meet with them while they were in Durban.
“I am very pleased that there has been this courtesy call, and am able to pay for the fact that I did not go to the wedding.”
Although time together was “very little”, Zuma said he had had “a wonderful time”.
The prince then said he very much cherished being able to be in Durban for this Olympic commitment as the city was very close to his wife’s heart. Throughout the brief addresses, Princess Charlene kept her head up and smiled, although it looked like the smile was there to try cover the fact that she was uncomfortably cold. For a moment, a more genuine smile crossed her face when her husband obliged the media by kissing her on the cheek.
Walking down the steps towards their waiting vehicles, the princess let out an “ai yai yai” and then laughed heartily, although it was not certain whether it was at her public, the weather or something else. She then bade the president and his wife farewell and stood by the car door opposite her husband, who then indicated to her that she was going in another vehicle. With this realisation and then the air kisses, the princess quickly moved to her waiting car and climbed in, once again leaving behind questions as to whether she is really a happy princess and whether the sad look on her face and tears on her wedding day was heartbreak or overwhelming emotion.

^So why did this idiot wear a strapless, backless, crocheted long dress when it is winter? I asked this before but don't think I got an answer.
Has she been away from South Africa for so long that she has forgotten that it has a winter, but opposite that in Monaco? Most young scholars learn about the opposite weather, the equator, the earth rotating on its axis in elementary school, but I guess Charlene was swimming that day.
Also, Meryl Marshall, please remember that Charlene is now Princess of MONACO and her duties DO NOT include being an ambassador for South Africa. If she wanted to be an international representative for South Africa, she should have stayed there. Poor Monegasques are just required to pay for her, but get zero return on their money.

Also, South Africa doesn't seem to impressed with this couple if their President Zuma is quite comfortable to leave the nondynamic duo waiting at the gate.

- Zero communication between these two!
That dress is ridiculous for that occasion!
She needs PR image police 24/7

How many times has Albert kept people waiting? Usually an advance person calls ahead to see if the VIP is running on time. If the VIP's staff says he's running a half hour late, then the Advance team knows to move the arrival time.

With us on board it would be a whole different picture! Couldn't you just see the two of us in the Palace. OMG! We'd have that place straightened out in a week (once we got rid of the current team, and hog-tied Albert) Bring in the rest of the experts on this forum and Monaco really would have a new flagship! Go Team Caroline!

Is that the same dress from her interview with the South African reporter (I cannot recall her name, apologies). It needs to be burned, absolutely terrible! None of her outfits have been nice so far.

LOL yes it is and yes it needs to be returned to his original owner: granny's coach, where it has served an honest life for years as cover rug...let's start an initiative to free that cover rug foto.wohnen-und-garten.de/neu,foto,user,kimberley1961,31153,orig.html

This Times (South Africa) article is about several couples, but the reporter mentions Albert and Charlene's inappropriate dress to Zuma's lunch.. Her comments really reveal that although the press may eventually write a fluff article or comment about Charlene, no one takes her seriously because she really is a bimbo. Below is an excerpt from the Times article:
Swamped by marital madness
by Tyla Peakes 17 July, 2011
... But the royal weddings must take most of the blame for all this excitement about marriage. One would have been enough to get Aunty Ellie going, but two have turned her into a raving lunatic.
She has collected mementos from all the British royal weddings and they are peppered throughout her home. Sit next to the grandfather clock in her TV room and you are silently observed by Charles and Diana, Princess Anne and Mark Phillips and the Queen Mother. It's eerie.
But the British royals are old hat now - her new darling is Charlene Wittstock. All the excitement over the wedding in Monaco has driven her into a frenzy. She won't hear a bad word about the former Olympic swimmer. If you dare to suggest that Charlene's crocheted white gown was a tad unsuitable for lunch with President Jacob Zuma you will be in for a tongue-lashing. Comment on the revelation that the prince and princess slept apart for their first week in South Africa, and Ellie will no doubt ask me why I have a double bed.

This Times (South Africa) article is an interview with the Chef for Albert and Charlene's South Africa party. This interview was before the event, so just blab about planning for this grand event. Just one new tidbit that I don't think was posted before.
Let's eat, shell we?by Shelley Seid 02 July, 2011 Kevin Joseph, executive chef at the Oyster Box Hotel
Shelley Seid tracks down royal wedding chef Kevin Joseph in his North Coast kitchen
Newlyweds Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco are on their way to South Africa and will attend a private reception on Thursday at Durban's iconic Oyster Box Hotel. Between 300 and 400 guests will be wined and dined under the eagle eye of executive chef, Kevin Joseph.
Joseph has been in his current position for nine years after stints at various exclusive hotels, including Raffles in Singapore, the Marriott Hotel in Jakarta, and the Milestone in London.
Why did they choose the Oyster Box? Nostalgia played a big part; Charlene's family has been coming here for years. Her dad is part of the horse-racing fraternity and the Oyster Box has always been a big part of that world. Earlier this year Charlene stayed here with her family and she loved our Indian food. It's one of the theme foods of the evening, by the way.
