The biggest surprise for me is that this is the first time that the media has mentioned in any way the charges filed by Elsa. Of the reporter doesn't mentioned any specifics because I think no one wants to be the first to discuss it publicly, but I ma sure others will inquire about. also, this reporter gives another version of why they are not having the dinner reception at the Museum - because they couldn't tack the red carpet on the marble stairs - and I believe this version because Albert and Charlene are just that petty and narcissistic to care about something like that. FINALLY, the broader media is making an issue that Albert has stated that Chalrene is NOT his soul mate - some fairytale romance that the Monaco Tourism Office wants to share with the world! Here's the abstract to the article and I'll post the entire printed version of the article in the next post. ALARM BELLS FOR ALBERT'S WEDDING BYLINE: MATTHEW CAMPBELL SECTION: 1; World; Pg. 31
ABSTRACT Monaco's Prince Albert hopes summer wedding to former South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock will lift small Riviera country's economy and spirits, but it could turn into costly embarrassment; Grace Kelly, 53-year-old prince's mother, brought sparkle to country after wedding Prince Rainier in 1956, but country's importance diminished; problems with wedding's details, potential labor strikes, questions over whether former girlfriends and his children will show up, and Albert's hesitancy in giving up bachelorhood detailed, along with potential trouble with French police over old yacht incident; TV broadcasting and even scheduling of date prove dicey; photo; drawings (M)

Alarm bells ring for Albert's wedding; STRIKES, BITTER EXES, DATE CHANGES AND DISGRUNTLED LOCALS THREATEN TO RUIN THE MONACO PRINCE'S BIG DAY
The Sunday Times (London) May 8, 2011 Sunday BYLINE: Matthew Campbell SECTION: FEATURES; Pg. 33
PRINCE ALBERT of Monaco wants his wedding this summer to give a big boost to the little tax haven on the Riviera as it struggles to emerge from recession. Instead, the event risks turning into an expensive fiasco.
With only two months to go before the 53-year-old Albert exchanges vows with Charlene Wittstock, a former Olympic swimmer from South Africa, invitations have yet to be sent out. "Albert and Charlene" wedding memorabilia is not yet ready. Nor is the commemorative postage stamp or a "Princess Charlene" rose that was supposed to have been created by now.
A "Charlene's March" has been composed, but the death of the Monte Carlo Philharmonic's director in March has complicated arrangements. He was supposed to have orchestrated the mass on July 2 in the palace, and a replacement has yet to be found.
Displaying signs of panic, the palace protocol chief in charge of the wedding has sent for reinforcements, hiring two experienced French wedding planners. It is hoped, at least, that the date, time and venues of festivities will not be subject to further changes: there have been so many over the past few months that Monaco is finding it hard to keep up.
When Albert's father, Prince Rainier married Grace Kelly, the actress, in 1956, the merger of European royalty and Hollywood star power helped to put Monaco on the map. Today the magic has faded and Albert's hopes of reviving the idyll appear forlorn.
One concern is that guests might turn up in Monaco only to find that they have nowhere to stay. This is because hotel workers are threatening to strike. The main labour union has shown that it means business by shutting down the fabled Monte Carlo casino over the Easter weekend with a walk-out by croupiers demanding more money.
Another worry is that Albert could end up being embarrassed by the mothers of his illegitimate children.
Nicole Coste, a former Togolese air hostess and mother of Alexandre, 7, has a record of turning up uninvited at Monaco's red carpet events and is said to have been signed up by German media to give an account of Albert's big day.
It is not known whether Albert's 19-year-old Californian daughter, Jazmin, and her mother are on the guest list. They may turn up anyway, furious at the rejection.
Then there is the woman from Nice who has complained to police about the behaviour of Albert, once a notorious playboy, and two of his friends during a cruise on a yacht seven years ago. A French prosecutor has interviewed the woman to decide whether to investigate further.
Invited to the royal wedding in London last weekend, Albert and Charlene no doubt took copious notes. They were reported to have arrived half an hour late for a reception hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Monaco hopes that, for his own wedding, at least, the notoriously tardy "bachelor prince" will turn up on time. For years, Albert had stubbornly resisted pressure to marry and, in an interview after announcing his engagement, sounded less than ecstatic about the idea, saying that he did not know if Charlene was his "soul mate".
From the outset, confusion has reigned over the wedding details. At first it was announced that the civil ceremony would take place on July 8 and a religious service on July 9. A week later, the palace switched the dates to July 1 and 2: it was explained that Albert wanted to attend a meeting of the International Olympic Committee in Durban on July 6. The ceremony was scheduled to start at 3pm. This was changed to 5pm after it emerged that this would clash with the first stage of the Tour de France. A big evening party was to be held in the oceanographic museum but it was impossible to pierce the marble stairs to fit a red carpet, so the event has been moved to the casino terraces.
One of Albert's biggest disappointments was the discovery that television networks were not sufficiently excited about his nuptials to pay for the right to broadcast them. The palace's starting price had been £350,000, but there were no takers and, after it was pointed out the British royal wedding was being broadcast for free, the palace had to back down.
At the same time, there has been grumbling in Monaco about "apartheid" after it emerged that ordinary citizens were being invited to a cocktail party to mark the occasion while a special reception later in the evening was being reserved for the wealthiest residents.
It was enough to prompt the French VSD magazine to ask last week: "Does Monaco rhyme with fiasco?" It added: "There is still work to do if they are to do as well as Will and Kate."
'' WEDDING GUESTS MAY FIND THEY HAVE NOWHERE TO STAY

I always thought that it was telling that Albert changed the wedding date because it coincided with an IOC meeting. So he moved the wedding to earlier and then said that his first week of wedded bliss would be spent at the IOC meeting, rather than a private exotic location with his wife. Somehow, I would think that if you were so in love, then your wedding would take priority over any other event in your life. This was a big slam to Charlene, but she took it like a trooper, showing what her true aim was.

MEOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW clapclapclap ;D finally, some journalists are paying attention! thanks for the links....this is going to be fun " Does Monaco rhyme with fiasco? YES YES YEsyesyesyesyes ROFL invitations have yet to be sent out. (a save the date card should be sent as soon as a date is settled, the invitation should be received no later than 4 weeks before the date (so they should be received IMO by june 1) i thought one of her "swimmer friends" said she got an invitation, or maybe that was the one sent by text (which is really tacky) " Albert and Charlene" wedding memorabilia is not yet ready . Nor is the commemorative postage stamp or a "Princess Charlene" rose that was supposed to have been created by now. (snort snort laughing, score one for mary) A "Charlene's March" has been composed, but the death of the Monte Carlo Philharmonic's director in March has complicated arrangements. He was supposed to have orchestrated the mass on July 2 in the palace, and a replacement has yet to be found. ( i read the real royal wedding music and singing had practiced every day for the months leading up to the wedding, OH wouldn't that be funny, if it was horrible and off key please please please) Nicole Coste, a former Togolese air hostess and mother of Alexandre, 7, has a record of turning up uninvited at Monaco's red carpet events and is said to have been signed up by German media to give an account of Albert's big day oh REALLY! that's fabulous, i can't wait to see how that goes....WHAT A CIRCUS!!! For years, Albert had stubbornly resisted pressure to marry and, in an interview after announcing his engagement, sounded less than ecstatic about the idea, saying that he did not know if Charlene was his "soul mate".THE BEST part of the interview IMO sure it was fun watching how haughty and arrogant trashlene acted, all the while not knowing a word of french, but the BIG moment was when he admitted he didn't love her. i hope the media runs with this A LOT! One of Albert's biggest disappointments was the discovery that television networks were not sufficiently excited about his nuptials to pay for the right to broadcast themi'm not sure if it was a disappointment or a delusion...either way VERY amusing! has been grumbling in Monaco about "apartheid" after it emerged that ordinary citizens were being invited to a cocktail party to mark the occasion while a special reception later in the evening was being reserved for the wealthiest residents. i guess that's part of her south african humor nobody gets

Someone accused Eringer of being the source for this. Ha! All the reporter had to do was his homework. Parts of this article were written about before, (But we know that) all he had to so was put it all in one place which he did -- And DARN if it isn't everything we've been saying all long.
I challenge someone to bravely post this article on a sugar board!

MEOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW clapclapclap ;D finally, some journalists are paying attention! thanks for the links....this is going to be fun I agree wholeheartedly! All of your highlights only confirm what we've been saying - that Albert and Charlene doom every thing they touch - they literally have a negative aura about them. Karma baby, karma! Wow, I am surprised to see someone in the media not afraid to speak the truth about Nicole's stalking behavior. It is known in Monaco that she stalks Albert - some times they turn her away. I have no intention to watch this trashy wedding where a con artist gets to gloat over her win, but if Nicole is giving commentary, I'll watch whatever station that she is the commentator - with no sound - just to see her face turn green with envy. Seriously, I doubt if Nicole will be psychologically and emotionally able to do this. Nicole had high hopes that Alexandre would be Albert's heir and she the Princess of Monaco. Oh lawd, watch this woman come out of the woodworks now . OMG, hilarious Countess! Yes, it is apartheid associated with Monaco's South African Princess Charlene. The plebes better get used to her South African mentality and humor - because this is just the beginning.

hmm, could it be the "sunday times" [of london] was none to keen on fattie the blob and conlene showing up AFTER the queen for will & kate's festivites? .... not to say the story isn't juicy [and true for that matter] all on it's own but still their lack of respect was so glaring -- no doubt the times witnessed their late arrival ... keep the articles coming ...

^Can be. They had a great opportunity in England in that wedding, and as it's usual, they screwed it up. So, who knows, arriving later after the Queen it does have it's consequences.

I really wonder which British royal will be forced by protocol to attend this wedding. I bet Sophie and Edward decline and they end up with Andrew who brings Beatrice and Eugenie. He and Albert follow the same patterns it seems. JMO Creative -- good point. The British press may have fun publishing sorted tales on it's Royals, but let someone from another country show disrespect and boom! It's kind of like the situation where one sibling complains about another, but let someone outside the family complain and boom! Albert has such blatant disregard for people other than himself. JMO

A brilliant article and fabulous posts everyone. I am with you in hoping that there will be many more like this one coming, all over the place.
What a karma for Fatal - to fire and persecute the organist for telling the truth, and instead the orchestra conductor dies on him. ;D

If you're talking karma, I don't think that anything is pointing to good omens and happiness with regard to this wedding charade. Starting with the timing of the announcement and going from there. Only nasty stuff, bad coincidences and people suffering from the delusion that if they say things often enough they will come true...

Too funny. There he finally makes it out of the tabloids into the times...and bang it's all bad. Still leaving out a lot of other tit-bits, like the guy conducting the children's choir selfserving on the donations in the cathedral, the fact that a lot of people are angry, because the opera choir will do the main singing, the boy choir do the mass bits and the church choir not being asked. They were good enough for Albert's enthronement, Rainiers and Grace's funeral and wedding, his Great grandfather's funeral (one of my friends sang at all of them), but they are not good enough to sing at this street fair wedding. My take on the change of location for the Casino is first that they won't be able to use helicopters to film the occasion. Steph had her wedding party there too. Secondly the wedding organizers are the same that recently did the Indian wedding and due to short notice just rehash what they did in March, only without Elephants this time...well, almost, as they managed to hire one as the groom The march of trash has been composed by the military band. It has nothing to do with the sad and untimely decease of Kreizberg. Finding replacement for him will be difficult, as I remember vividly how long it took to replace Janowsky. And I suppose that CAro has already called in all the favours with him, by asking him to conduct the concerts he had promissed to conduct by contract after being so severely after a concert in Monaco, that he felt the need to resign the very next day. If Albert, or any of his family, would have deemed it necessary to show themselves on occasion at the odd concert, they would have known how ill he was. Sadly neither he nor the family nor anyone affiliated to the palace attends concerts, unless they are made to or think that maybe CAro might show. it is rare to see any Monaco official at a concert by the philharmonics. Well, it won't be long and there won't be any orchestra left to worry about. those with enough talent and at the age to make it in another orchestra are already looking around to find a new job. Others are thinking of early retirement and teaching. Kreizberg was ill practically right after his first concert in Monaco and never really recovered. If they are hard pressed for a conductor, they could ask Kreizbergs widow to do the job. She is a conductor too. Btw Bunte is continuing its downwriting campaign of Kate, saying it is distasteful of Kates siblings to open their own businesses in the aftermath of their sisters wedding. Yes I think Bunte would like them better if they all moved into BUckingham palace and stopped working immediately, being on permanent vacation Like the whitestocks. In contrast they have an article on coaties I am late for dinner outfit. They are praising the splendor the MC wedding will surely have in contrast...yes, you guessed right, to Kates simple wedding. Of course they don't mention that the trash got herself remarked as arriving late for the queens dinner. both articles are by Louise Wacker, apparently being allowed to sniff coaties cashmere sweater that she handed to the creepy guy...

no idea where to put this but apparently coaties party times didn't help to establish this one: www.monacomatin.mc/article/monaco/le-moods-a-ferme-en-catiminimoods opened in 2008 and closed during the easter holidays due to lack of profit (which SBM does not comment on...they say it evolved ROFL) I think some of the others that they have opened these past few years are not doing so great either. And those who are more successful due to moderate price policy, are encountering difficulties with the neighborhood due to the crowds they attract...not everyone likes to be noise polluted or suddenly find themselves in the middle of a fistfight, whilst strolling around the old port in the evening... Paca, I already posted this and it being discussed in this thread, which I thought that you had commented on it. I don't mind if you move it. Is there a current event thread? I think that it would be nice to have one. Maybe renaming the under fire thread would be an option to avoid a new thread. ultimately everything that happens in MC reflects on him and his poor ruling.

Paca - if I were Caroline I wouldn't spend my favours on Slutlene and Fatal. I'm sure she can find a conductor swiftly and efficiently, once Fatal is gone for good, with his ill-smelling Trash.
