Clinton Foundation • Hollywood celebrities • Cannes [/quote] Two things - When the say "CELEBRITY PERFORMERS" - Maybe they're hoping former President Clinton will play his Saxophone for them! ;D ;D ;D The other thing is - it's interesting they say the evening will include "Members of the Princely family" and it doesn't specifically state Prince Albert and pal - maybe they are waiting to see WHO, and how many of these "important celebrities" actually agree to attend. If they get a low response a then PA won't attend - but will send his cousin or one of the trio -

Well, then they will most probably get quite a lot of Hollywood people attending. Willy is very popular among the Hollywood crowd. But it will only be because of Mr. Clinton - not because of the "dynamic duo" at all.

Questions surround Monaco event that Bill Clinton and Prince Albert II are set to attend Attorney for two businessmen says their contracts with organizer haven't been fulfilled Carson Griffith and Adam Caparell
Tuesday, May 8, 2012, 6:00 AM The Nights in Monaco event that Bill Clinton and Prince Albert II of Monaco are attending on May 23 may be about to have its day in court.
Attorney and Judicial Watch founder Larry Klayman , who bedeviled the Clinton administration with litigation, tells us he now wants to warn the ex-President about the organizer of the event at the Hotel de Paris in Monaco .
Klayman is representing Florida real estate power broker Tim Elmes and entrepreneur Jeff Vanderpol , who he claims were defrauded by Stanley E. Washington, who’s helming the Nights in Monaco soiree.
Klayman says Elmes and Vanderpol invested $20,000 with Washington to help him kick-start the project, which was actually supposed to entail two benefits: a Golden Globes party at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Jan. 15, which never came to pass, and the upcoming date in Monaco.
Clinton and Prince Albert’s involvement on behalf of their respective foundations was announced on May 3.
In exchange for their short-term capital, Klayman says his clients were supposed to get a 3% ownership stake in the event, which could prove lucrative if it became an annual occurrence.
Elmes and Vanderpol were also supposed to get seats to the supposedly high-powered events, which they planned to use to sell 1011 Ute Mesa, a $40 million, 22,000-square-foot estate at the base of Ajax Mountain in Aspen, Colo., with its own waterfall and direct access to the ski slopes.
Klayman says Washington, who’s CEO of a company called Pantheon Lifestyle Services, had contracted to repay the money by Jan. 9, but has yet to do so.
An email chain that we saw between Vanderpol, Elmes and Washington appears to lay out the deal as described by Klayman.
The attorney says that once the deadline passed, Washington offered to increase Vanderpol and Elmes’ stake in the event to 5% if they would let him repay them in installments.
Ultimately, Klayman says Washington paid back only $3,000 of the money he owed, and he adds, “We’ve put him and his lawyer on notice that it’s our position that Mr. Elmes and Mr. Vanderpol have been defrauded.”
“They’re owed money. The contract wasn’t honored, and we feel we have a fiduciary duty to inform Prince Albert and the Clinton Foundation that this has happened,” Klayman says.
Noting that he has been an adversary to Clinton in the past, the attorney, who is handling the matter as part of his private practice, notes: “Ironically, I now find myself, on behalf of my clients, attempting to protect his and Prince Albert’s interests so that everybody is treated fairly and honestly.”
The press office for the Clinton Foundation did not respond to requests for comment by deadline.
Through a spokeswoman, Washington said: "These claims are without merit and the event itself is confirmed to take place on May 23."
"Nights in Monaco has received tremendous support and we are looking forward to a spectacular evening," he added.

a crook hosting an event attended by assbert and trashy...now that really is befitting. That is the new Monaco. It is getting worse then the old one. And the people who are supposed to protect assbert are once again sleeping on the job. How can they possibly allow him to lend his name to anything before doing a background check. Maybe billy boy doesn't care as long as money keeps rolling, but assbert should...

How does she dare bad mouthing Carla Bruni? I just read an article about her and other reporters who have married politicians. The article was not flattering. She came across as arrogant in this particular piece. Most of these women do not see the conflict of interest between their jobs and their partners. If anything, people will start to miss Carla Bruni which is saying quite a lot.

Germany's chancellor was married to a journalist. Worked fine for her and him. SHe gave up her job though. Now she is trying to go into politics herself. I didn't like either of them. The new German president is not married and she is a political journalist. She is not working in her old job any more. In any case she seems to be decent and not pushing her weight around. Not sure how she will come across later. But since she is not paid by the government, I don't expect anything of her. She is a private person. Up to her to decide how she wants live next to her partner. She just needs to not cause damage to the office. I don't see it as a problem that they aren't married either. Times have changed and the majority of people is not living in marriage. Germany and France are both not catholic states, so there is no need for the presidents to be married. They can do as they please, like everyone in their respective countries. No one will demand the Sultan of Brunei to divorce his many wives in order to respect protocol of other countries. Our homosexual foreign minister travels without problems in homophob countries. It is part of diplomacy and politics to respect other cultures and traditions and work together regardless of own convictions and laws. In the case of trashy and assbert on the other hand, he is the head of a state which has catholizism as state religion. As such he has to respect catholic rules and set an example to his people...or abandon the state religion status. As to Hollande, it is a pitty that there was no other choices to replace Sarko. We will see what he will do. But on a personal level, I thoroughly dislike how he sabotaged and betrayed the mother of his children. All because of his inflated ego. I am no fan of Royal either, still she bore with dignity what has been done to her and that alone demands respect. Unlike her ex, she is a woman of character, though not politically smart. SHe could be president today, had she allowed Hollande to lose against Sarko.
Btw Trierweiler is not badmouthing Carla at all. She is simply stating facts. Carla came from an entirely different background, without any clue about what was expected of her. And she failed many times. Trierweiler has been living in this world her entire professional life. She knows what is expected of her and she knows how she can adapt her life to her new position, if it is considered a position. She can continue to work, just needs to find a different topic. I am sure she has already figured out how she can handle this. You do not enter into this without calculating your options. Unless you call youself trashy or Bruni and consult mostly with surgeons...

Cannes 2012: Bill Clinton, Prince Albert to Co-host Inaugural 'Nights in Monaco' Gala
Everyone's wondering if the fest's Power Couples, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, will turn up at what may be the hottest party. 1:12 PM PDT 5/3/2012 Elizabeth Snead Historically, the most star-studded bash held during the Cannes Film Festival is always the Cinema Against Aids amfAR fundraiser. This year, the exclusive black-tie event will be held on May 24 at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes. Past attendees include: Elton John, Sean Penn, Johnny Depp, George Clooney Madonna, Catherine Deneuve, Kylie Minogue, Natalie Portman, Elle Macpherson, Valentino, Roberto Cavalli, Bill Clinton and Prince Albert of Monaco
But Prince Albert and Clinton are throwing their own high-rolling contender on the Cannes party scene. Their first annual "Nights in Monaco" gala will be held at Monaco's Hotel de Paris to benefit the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the William J. Clinton Foundation. “I am glad that my Foundation is joining with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation,” Clinton said in a statement. “I have enjoyed working with Prince Albert through my Clinton Global Initiative, and we share a deep commitment to protecting the environment. I’m looking forward to what I’m sure will be a successful evening.” PHOTOS: Angelina Jolie's Top 10 Red Carpet Looks The evening begins with a private reception with both the prince and the former president, followed by dinner at the Hotel de Paris, courtesy of chef Alain Ducasse. The gala will also feature numerous musical performances by Il Volo, Caro Emerald and DJ Ruckus, and after dinner, there will be a party at the newly renovated Jimmy’z d’Hiver at the Place du Casino. We can’t wait to see who gets invited to this primo party. We’re willing to bet that the 2012 Cannes Power Couples -- Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie -- will get invites. Stewart will be at Cannes promoting On the Road, directed by Walter Salles, and Pattinson will also be there for David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis. STORY: Brad Pitt On the Unmentionables: Marriage, Politics and Religion The newly engaged Pitt and Jolie, who have a pad not far from Cannes, will be at the fest to promote his film, Killing Them Softly. What better engagement gift than a ticket to the "Inaugural Nights in Monaco" gala? (And what better place for Angie to show off her amazing new engagement ring?) More celebs vying for a party invite will include Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, Reese Witherspoon, Marion Cotillard and Matthew McConaughey, who all have films at the fest. Given all the potential celebrity guests, the "Nights in Monaco" soiree may prove to be a hotter red carpet than any premiere on the Croisette in Cannes.
I found this from Hollywoodreporter.

Event Sponsors are American Express Departures Magazine Food & Wine Magazine Travel & Leisure Magazine MacMas Group Quintessentially Frasers Yachts SBM Hotels IMG Artist Agency Tiffany & Co Roger Dubuis Monaco Tourism Board Marina B Henrich + Denzel CIRCA Nights in Monaco will deliver two high-profile events that will be delivered from 2012 - 2013. The first event will take place in Monaco during the Cannes Film Festival and the second in Los Angeles during the Golden Globes. The gala in Monaco will take place on May 23, 2012 and will transport guests back to an era of allure and prestige - an era known as the “Golden Age of Hollywood”. A period in time where American Cinema introduced the world to Hollywood “Royalty” such as Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton - and a time when Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco bridged the gap between Hollywood and true Royalty. It was a time that lasted from the end of the silent era in American cinema in the late 1920s to the early 1960s. A time where true Royalty, heads of state and movie stars regularly socialized.

If this thing actually goes off and Mr. Clinton attends - I hope Mrs Clinton accompanies him because I see him getting into a whole lot of trouble over there if he is solo! (Or maybe Chelsea can come since her mother is no doubt very busy.) He may even like CW - or she him a little too much. It's not like Mr. Clinton hasn't gone for strange types in the past - and she may need to find a new rich "sugar daddy".

I agree, paca What I don't like is that Hollande used 2 strong intelligent women. Women who are much more than a bimbo… yes it is a shame and it is very telling about where women still stand these days. Look at Michelle Obama. People were going nutters about the US having a black president. Still, without being racists, I think that people rather have a black, asian or other ethnic president, as long as he is not a woman. I can not grasp why woman still believe that they have to support men getting what they want, when rarely any man seems to support the woman. At least not unless they got their share first, like Bill and Hillary. Merkels and Thatchers husbands seem to be the extremely rare exception. IMO a president Michelle Obama would have been a more significant change. Not that I believe that much has changed for the better in the US for disadvantaged population.

There is no such title of "First Lady" in the Constitution of the French 5th Republic. www.assemblee-nationale.fr/connaissance/constitution.asp

The same goes for Germany. It is not in the constitution. It is just an expectation of people. It seems to be a need to have some sort of king and Queen. There is no first lady in the US constitution either. Funny thing is, when the boss is the woman no one expects the husband to play the first lady role. They never have and they never will. IMO in democracies they either have to make it a job and pay for it or they should treat men and women equally not expect women to indulge into charity. They have not been elected into office, are not being paid, so society has no right to demand anything of them. They already do pay the price of having their entire life ewposed to public scrutiny.
