A lot happens between pre-production when they seek approval to film, to production then post-production where they edit the film... It would seem inconsistent however the end result can be dramatically changed by the time of the finished film. I agree that Monaco has nothing left to say on this, other than let the critics speak and let the film sink quietly. No one needs to send Nicole Kidman into a depression. I've totally missed why Monaco, after letting them film in Monaco first, suddenly has changed its mind and decided to disagree with the film. (They did film there? I remember something about it. Tell me I'm not mad. Well, madder anyway.) But I suppose it's too much of a conspiracy theory to suspect the opposition and fuss is just an act to generate more publicity?

It annoys me too when the media tries to show how Grace or Diana etc. really were! God forbid admiring women with flaws! And men like Woody Allen are still allowed to make movies..

A new low for the Cannes Festival, the young Ugly Betty actress America Ferrera molested by a Russian journalist who grabbed her ankles and shoved his head under her skirt: Not All Dirty Men are Old

Meanwhile Weinstein is trying to keep the movie in the news to pay for his kids' college education (eyeroll) and grovelling to Monaco: Fresh Off the PressJust sue the f***ing a**hole already. Meanwhile, it's official, the Grace movie is dubbed THE WORST CANNES FILM EVER: Don't Take My Word for It

In Other WordsI really don't think there are successful movies about silver screen legends other than Mommie Dearest, are there? Let this baby rest with TV and move on, I say. As much as I love Tim Roth's acting, it might as well go be forgotten somewhere.

I just watched 15 minutes of the "Grace" movie on Lifetime. H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E! Worst script and acting that I've ever seen! I can't believe that Nicole Kidman agreed to it.

I watched the Diana film and liked it. Although it took a while to get used to Naomi as Diana, but she grew on me. And I completely belief the plot, that Diana was manipulating the media and tipping them off to create jealousy with the Pakistani doctor, which explains the media frenzy during her last days. One asks what might have happened if she hadn't tipped the media off and just enjoyed her moments in the sun. Perhaps she would still be alive. As for the Grace film, the little I've seen, (the trailer) seems very believable. Rainier seems like a dislikable person who could turn his charm up when it suited him. Just like I have a feeling Albert is. Except Rainier was more cunning, whereas I think Albert is more filled with shame and afraid of being ridiculed. The only thing that bothers me immensely about the film is Nicole's nose. Grace's nose was so much prettier. I think they should have chosen another actress just because of the nose. Nicole has the grandeur and all but up close is ruined. I know it is "so trivial", but I can't help it.

I just watched the film Grace of Monaco and I love it. The costumes, the beauty, the acting, the plot, everything. I think it is a fabulous film and even Nicole didn't bother me at all.
I had no idea that Rainier's sister Antoinette tried to overthrow him!!! It is like going back to the middle ages, when everyone was stabbing everyone's back.
And the sentence: How long do you think you'll last? (said to Grace) was also said of the noble Charléne. History surely repeats itself.
But Rainier is not as horrid person in the film as I imagined him in real life. But I guess they would rather that the audience sympathise with him.

Yes that part is true there are several books around that talked of that too if I recall correctly.
Well CW has indeed managed to get her claws into the place now.

I wonder what it's down to when filmmakers disown their movies and people still see something in them...
