Here's proof my bestie is the top woman for the job. Not only did she not particularly like Margaret Thatcher but QE2 is being the bigger woman - and once again the last woman standing I might add - and actually is going to show up to the funeral like any humble mourner. This is an occasion to put negative sentiment aside and she proves that she can put ego aside too for the sake of the job. Brava Regina! www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/04/10/queen-will-attend-thatcher-s-funeral.htmlI mean, let's face it, some politicians are downright obnoxious and more queenly than Herself. However, I have to say, I'm touched by Thatcher's late devotion to her husband. It proves there was a heart under the iron curtain. Godspeed another female symbol of strength.

It's full of negative imagery. Frankly, I like our domestic stamps' picture better these days. She's got a nifty yellow Spring-y hat and rouge on the cheeks and lips. Marvellous. I commented on it at the post office. The portrait above shows her unsure about marriage (fiddling with her ring finger), looking doubtful into the distance with an over-emphasis on the royal bosom. They made her look senile which we know she's nothing but. Not to toot my horn, but I could do a better job with pastel alone. Not that I'm launching myself or volunteering. Unless she asked me personally, of course. Bestie by SASLoulou, on Flickr

Some people are interpreting Bestie's move to forgo the Commonwealth Summit in Sri Lanka as evidence a transition is in progress: www.parismatch.com/Royal-Blog/Royaume-Uni/Elizabeth-II-prepare-la-transition-en-douceur-512613I figure she's throwing Charles a bone after the inthronization he attended, but that she'll bounce right back! And she'll bounce back precisely when Harry commits another blunder on his visit to the US. Mark my words! We shall never surrender! ;D

My bestie is celebrating her 60 years in power, longer than any modern politician or diplomat which is a bit of a combination of what she does. All the power to her.

Queen forces 600,000 children into poverty, pockets 5% raise www.systemiccapital.com/queen-forces-600000-children-into-poverty-pockets-5-raise/The report, published by the Office of the Children’s Commissioner for England, argues that economic measures will hit families with children the hardest, resulting in another 600,000 children living in poverty over the next two years. It said its findings mean that the Government is at risk of not meeting its obligations to children and young people. As a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UK Government is bound by international law to uphold children’s rights to the maximum extent of available resources. Work on the report, titled A Child Rights Impact Assessment of the 2013 Budget, was carried out by independent economists, to examine the full impact of Government policies and tax and benefit reforms. It found that that the biggest negative impacts of the Government’s work to reduce the deficit will fall on families with children. MORE… www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/10144381/Spending-cuts-tip-600000-children-into-poverty.htmlThe Queen is poised to receive a 5% income boost after the Crown Estate announced a record profit of £253m. The Crown Estate, whose profits are linked to the monarch’s income, owns a property portfolio including Regent Street, Windsor Great Park. It also manages the UK’s coastal waters. Profits were up 5.2% on last year, a welcome boost for the public accounts, as all Crown Estate profits flow into Treasury coffers. The Sovereign Grant will rise next year from £36.1m to £37.9m. This funds the Queen’s spending as head of state and is calculated as a percentage of Crown Estate properties. The return on the estate’s £8.1bn portfolio was 11.3%, comfortably outperforming the property industry benchmark of 9.9% for the fifth year running. I forgot to mention that my bestie, QE2 and her son Prince Charles made touching statements in regards to the tragedy of Lac-Megantic in Quebec. Adding to the high-profile support now is Sir Paul McCartney who returns to Qc city after the 2008 free concert for our 400th anniversary which I saw, and is offering about 1000 tickets to the survivors of Lac-Megantic. Personally, a benefit concert would be more practical and I think Garou and other Qc entertainers have that covered. No word yet from Celine Dion about loosening the purse strings. I think Cirque du Soleil's One Drop Foundation as well as Prince Albert's Foundation might maybe want to take this opportunity to make a symbolic contribution as well, in light of the fact the lake has been contaminated and the environment badly compromised. Anything to keep the awareness up and to embrace the mourners and support their recovery. But for now, thanks Bestie. Thanks, Prince Charles.
