And lastly for today, the Body Language Guy was back with a fascinating theory. And one that explains what MM was wearing that was boxy under her clothes - a transmitter for her earbud, to help her navigate to a setup exchange with a hugging fan on the walkabout. What's more the same device would have allowed also to set up the impossible shot inside the palace behind King Charles.
Meanwhile, belated wishes to Harry on his birthday yesterday. Please. use. this. time. wisely. 🙏🏻
I loved the little American girl who greeted then gushed over Camilla. That was sweet. And unprompted! I was speaking to an Anglo lady at the supermarket today, who was getting ready to make scones for a get-together Monday to watch HM's funeral. Sigh. I told her it won't be the same now without QE2. 😕
I hope Lady C is not upset with me. I'm sorry if I leaned too heavy on her for levity's sake. It's been a long ten days almost. I'm just glad if I can see the paintings behind her better, and that shade of pistachio in the background (which was my dad's favourite ice cream, and I always have a green room in any of the apartments I've had). I know she can riff on a good gag. She's pretty with it, though we have no way of clearing it first. I still refuse to watch that reality show btw and the other one just gives me a window into spectacular castles.
So the vigil happened today, with the younger generation. It was so moving. As was the bain de foule by the top royals. My focus was on my sick friend all day, forgive me, but I did catch King Charles' encounter with Canada's leader up to the lovely Jacinda Aldern. I keep the live feed on most of the day. The invite/non-invite thing makes sense if we're to have a repeat of last year's UNGA. No leaders or royals like signing away privacy to media without the courtesy of asking permission. I'm glad we caught a glimpse of Fergie yesterday too. All things considered, if public personal attacks can be forgiven, non-attacks should warrant mercy too, I suppose. There would be so much to post but I'll wait until tomorrow.
To Harry: imagine how you feel at the moment and put yourself in your loving grandmother's shoes when you kept suckerpunching her by media interposed. How fair a battle was that? And she was losing her husband, then the stress and depression precipitated her demise. You're a physically healthy guy with zero responsibilities. She was a lifelong monarch from the start of her marriage, who kept a full schedule. It's nice that you're having delayed growing pains but your timing majorly sucked, let's face it. Your wife is an operator. Once you cast yourself off for good, do you honestly think she'll catch you!?! She's probably thinking more of your inheritance than being a team player at the moment. You need some guy time. You need to go sit at Althorpe have a mental discussion with your late mother, your Spencer siblings because even if she had grievances, she didn't raise you to be ungentlemanly.
In other times, you'd have been thrown into a dungeon - something I can relate to albeit virtually. Don't fall for the manipulation of those prodders using you for sensationalism ' sake. Don't be like your mom, the casualty of misinformation and a bleeding heart. Your children will need you to guide them. At the moment you're angling for them to become tabloid royalty. Pause. Think.
After watching the Crown (series) and films like the Queen, Spencer and more, I am not a fan of the former queen, to put it mildly. She behaved horribly to her own children and family. Maybe she was a better great grandmother. I wouldn't know. Maybe they will make a movie about what a "wonderful" grandmother she was.
"En rafale", Charlotte's hat and brooch were perfection. As was Beatrice's hair. My favourite headdress goes to Sophie, but I honestly couldn't get a totally clear view. Princess Catherine 👌🏼 all around, especially the veil. Her parents' discretion 👏🏼 The presence of Fergie and Charles Spencer 👏🏼👏🏼. The choirs 👏🏼👏🏼. The flawless choreographies 😘🤌. I fretted at first about the kids being there, but they were all flanked by doting parents and Mike Tindall. There's too much to comment on. I think 👑C & C👑 just need to try to relax and not gauge others with prying eyes. Just cruise-control, HM paved the way just fine. Anne. Anne with a gaze as steady as her support for her mom 💙. HM's poney Emma and the Corgis - very nice touch. Finally I think, blanketing the ground with people's flowers was impeccably beautiful. I think everyone was on their absolute best. Thank you for the loveliest of send-offs, well done.

The wind of change ~ Blew away my windmill ~ Left me nothing for my sail ~ Don Quichotte knows this lament ~ When the sparrer just left the duel ~ And my pen now finds no worthy opponent ~ The void is cratered, that much more cruel ~ My purpose? Flummoxed, is that of a drunk ~ That the party forgot, while still in my frock ~ I dance a lonely waltz with the echoes of banter ~ Gales of time will now separate from a soul sister.
