It's lucky to start something under a bit of rain. However how could the abbey not have a fresh roll of carpet to unfurl at their arrival!? They had the above cover. Meanwhile the ghost of Diana might have had something to do with the hiking up of Camilla's dress, for that entrance... and I may be alone in thinking this, but I think it's a good thing Harry was there. He looked at times like his old self, greeting some people, at others he looked defiant and a tad bit arrogant. Charles doesn't yet look like he's enjoying himself. I for one would have preferred an andante pace rather than the hurried one on way to. But maybe I still have the last event in mind.
Watching from above the Plains of Abraham, as it were. ⚜️

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr52xxDsqKC And there it is. To me it looks like C & C switched crowns; hers is significantly bigger for some reason, no offense to Philip Treacy who fitted them. Midway his gold tunic had me flashing back to Gary Oldman's Dracula for a split second 😄 It's that eclipse, which is said to be felt for weeks more. Hoy! I did manage to watch some of it, despite the TV going offline when RO froze when I tried to sign in. Tsk tsk 😏 I really resent when people presume wrongly that I'm uncivilized. I'd like one person on this Earth to give me one example of when I was ever a shrew. Seriously. 🤷🏻♀️ I come on an opinion chat to give opinions. It's others who spin their wheels uncontrollably.

Catching up to the coverage... I missed this gorgeous chartreuse dress on Queen Letizia 😙🤌💚 on the eve: Princess Mary is another infusion of energy in her very befitting coral coloured dress, which apparently KC couldn't resist nearing into her personal space:

Meanwhile very close to Spain and Denmark for most fetching pair of royals are the king and queen of Bhutan: I hope that's a baby bump, because their children are so adorable.

So, now that everyone has had time to enjoy, process, digest and compartmentalize without this here peanut gallery...my thoughts:
If Charles were a president, the qualifier would be: "not presidential". In terms of a moment awaited a lifetime, to me it lacked gravitas. The facial expressions ranged from irritation to cornered prey to boredom and petulance, instead of the type of regal poise that normally inspires a thousand portraits. The darting stares, again, bordered on insecurity or worse, paranoia as if at any moment, someone might call a bluff. I found what I was able to watch a bit too "regular". Camilla wore the same old hairstyle as if it was just any other day. Nothing to imply a significant shift. Way too many Parker-Bowles in attendance vs actual aristocrats. The absence of tiaras was criminal, imo, and it felt like it was intended to lower other crowns' status to suit the ones arriving. It was selfish and a mild attack on the merits of other houses. Mind you, most will probably still be around for the next coronation so there's a chance they'll fix that breach of etiquette. Now, in all levity, the 3-generational portrait was "child-exploitative". 🙃

www.thedailybeast.com/king-charles-and-queen-camilla-are-just-marking-time-for-queen-kate?ref=home?ref=homeAs I sit among some of the most disturbing public art* in a city whose yacht club renamed itself oddly after another blog I used to have, "Queen City" (at this point you just assume non-stop appropriation, however they missed out on my much better taste in art), the plunge in public love doesn't surprise me. *Aforementioned disturbing art... blood-red African-American disembodied heads on spikes: It's one installation out of three, that features body parts sticking in or out of the ground, as if this city never recently had a serial killer landscaper who buried body parts in people's plants...

Not sure if this link will work, on Snapchat but it's funny just listening to the commentator: t.snapchat.com/soRAwzAnMeanwhile it just occurred to me the newly renamed Queen City Yacht Club is another ripoff of my Ontario Place concept, for its marina, if memory serves. This thread's title just reminded me. I have to double check 🤔 *My bad. I mistook the QCYC for the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. Carry on.

So let me get this straight...when not playing musical chairs with his family's accomodations, he's on one hand stripping a title from a guy who both paid AND earned the honour, while on the other hand, bringing back the broker of the paid honours, that Faucet guy, who's just been let off easy by the Met. www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12438557/King-Charles-strips-Anthony-Bailey-OBE.htmlJust making sure. Maybe future honourees should be wary that it may not be permanent, based on whims or who you divorce in the future. I mean, did he beat her or what? I can't think of another private reason to strip a guy of his OBE. Which was bestowed by QE2 btw.

One million is also the figure in British pounds that this husband owed his wife which earned him to be stripped of his OBE. I wonder what would have happened if that figure was closer to 100 ! 😒... Which reminds me I'm STILL owed a fraction of what I contributed, far more than the 0 figure a certain poet did. Hello 🇦🇪... The "Shiny Object" operation is midstream, after a fumbled unfurling with Catherine and Charles colliding on hasty way to hospital, the "C" word raised as bait, then confirmed then "caught in time", as officially stamped by the tragic Mr Sunak. It was long enough for cameras to be installed to troll King Frederik then followed by a Queen Margrethe drive-by. The contrasts with QE2 are there, the queen chosing the stiff upper lip and not disclosing publicly her cancer. However this time, Harry ditched the troublesome half and hurried back. Which is good, considering that marriage is out of steam, according to all gossip blogs. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/feb/06/prince-harry-uk-king-charles-cancer-diagnosisI do believe the protests will nevertheless continue on British squares and streets, after this brief commercial break...
