The pope continues his visit to Ireland and I praise his bravery. He unlike others has not used his podium to address the 1.5 billion Catholic community beyond, to downplay the scandals by comparing numbers or statistics that would paint the Church in a more favourable light and distort from the real pain some Catholics feel. He is not piggybacking on anyone's sorrow either, to draw attention back to him. I am hopeful Pope Francis will come away from this ordeal and will strengthen people's faith. Secular laws have had to be inspired by divine law because people that became great were formed throughout history by the latter in their private lives. It's up to him to keep the faithful on the right course by setting the example and by interpreting God to his flock.

People will really pounce and this time, rather than hear the concession to science to address early childhood development when kids have not yet developed a sexual identity, the pope is not catching any breaks from them. Had he uttered some airtight religious pronouncement, people would not be satisfied either. Are standard asexual beings supposed to be authorities on temporal issues? It's one reason they're not handling sex scandals well either ~ they don't know where to begin. It's a bit much to have to handle two separate loaded issues at once. Homosexuality and pedophilia are absolutely distinct from one another and an overlap of the two makes for no constructive dialogue. People need to treat each with dignity, not with hastiness. Back off the guy. Sen. John McCain is clearly the best president America never had. His memorials have been happening at my prayer times and I dedicated today's rosary to him. (And being Friday for Muslims, I consider it added salience). I love how the sky parted to cry today in some poetic rendering, as his draped casket was pulled from the hearst to climb the stairs. It was a beautiful moment. It's nice to see the wider American family come together. I won't comment on Megan's grief because I'm certain she'll always brighten the political landscape and I do hope we'll see her in a leadership role one day. Her father opened the way by choosing a woman for a top role. He was an American original that built on something rather than seek ruins. I may not know his entire political record and might not agree with his policies, but I can say he's the type of conservative more liberal people like myself recognize we need more of in our lives. Were I a US citizen, I'd go as far as to say he made me proud to be American. God bless him.

Does anyone else see the Serena Williams job this weekend as a twisted payback at Nike, black athletes, her husband Alexis Ohanian's Trump critiques or am I overreading? You have to extrapolate from the same way the removal of US intelligence officers' security clearances was payback for Kushner's temporary clearance yank. It follows a similar pattern of being just oblique enough to cause disbelief and confusion. And nausea. I would look into the umpire receiving some extraordinary favour or even a payoff if they're cocky enough no one will look. Poor bunnies she and the Japanese girl.

The pope begins a tour of the Baltics. This week, Bono visited and they spoke of the high number of Irish abuse victims. This will be a recurring theme. Looking at how numbers were being aggregated at least in the US, I was somewhat surprised that we were talking about six decades' worth and although I have no desire to be the devil's advocate I thought to myself what it meant compared to the general population and how it was no doubt proportionate although it shouldn't be, not when dealing with the safety within the Church one should reasonably expect. It's definitely a reckoning of sorts, for the past, and one that requires a clear response. So far we saw the American Jesuits strip guilty bishops of any honours; the pope expelled a Chilean priest (and the entire college had offered to quit, another point); the cardinals have been called in. But it should also come from the suspected abusers. They should volunteer to the harshest test of exorcism willingly IMO. I know I would. I represent those who were abused before having the vocabulary to tell what happened to them. Trump is so wrong when he thinks victims can verbalize that kind of insidious assault.(...). That's why even those who are not concerned have to stand up in solidarity and demand a frank discussion. I think Pope Francis is not so enamoured with the political power of the Holy See and can bridge the divide. It's imperative really. www.reuters.com/article/us-pope-baltic-lithuania-arrival/pope-arrives-in-lithuania-to-start-tour-of-baltic-states-idUSKCN1M20AT

The important thing to remember tomorrow when the UN becomes the latest pulpit for Trump's insanity is that there are Americans already aware of the US's own need for a "regime change" and are working towards it by voting Trump out; that Nicki Haley is no John Kerry or Madeleine Albright when she myopically refers to mirrors and segues into the admission that American sanctions and broken deals are causing despair among Iranians; and that lies have no legs if countries don't abet liars, just like sins go nowhere if no one jumps in bed with the sinner 😉 Keep calm and don't feed the beast. Demand peace.

Well, we don't always get the response we wish for but the unifying theme here is that we're not dealing with gentlemen anyway, neither the UN or I. But at least this makes my day: www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-45644975/president-donald-trump-gets-unexpected-laugh-at-united-nationsThe important thing to remember tomorrow when the UN becomes the latest pulpit for Trump's insanity is that there are Americans already aware of the US's own need for a "regime change" and are working towards it by voting Trump out; that Nicki Haley is no John Kerry or Madeleine Albright when she myopically refers to mirrors and segues into the admission that American sanctions and broken deals are causing despair among Iranians; and that lies have no legs if countries don't abet liars, just like sins go nowhere if no one jumps in bed with the sinner 😉 Keep calm and don't feed the beast. Pope Francis has launched the conclave that will propel the Catholic Church into a brighter future. It's important mostly for it to remember to take leaps of faith of its own, to validate the good that younger generations and average Christians do as they apply themselves to their lives and in their militancy, as well as to recognize the Church has become top heavy and to try to walk in Jesus's "shoes" were he today as a human, to try to connect with his rep on Earth. Would He even be heard? It must be a reform without being an airless self-examination, or self-flagellation or even a tossing of mechanisms that can still have their usefulness in future human cycles. Just talk the talk and walk the walk. And don't forget the odd leap of faith. I'm sure people would be happy with that. I'm excited for them. If I were to personally add something, it would be to take back Judgment from self-proclaimed Catholics. I have met no worse nor denser Devil's "tools". Be alert. Be efficient. Be there. Make Him proud.

I condensed my thoughts on the Khashoggi affair in a blog. In a nutshell, in light of the progress made in Yemen (and in regularizing of information flow between Washington and Riyadh by the appointment of a responsible qualified and versed diplomat), I think the peace mission that was the goal of Jamal Khashoggi is yielding results. If instead of embarking on a vengeance mission that got us here in the first place, we focused on the good that can come out, it would stop fostering more resentment. Blog link

The G20 is taking place in Argentina, with bilateral meeting planned. Here's what is hopeful from the Erdogan-MbS meeting: Article Meanwhile I'm glad the US Senate is not buying things at face value, and would add that Trump's defense of Saudi Arabia is motivated by a need to protect his son-in-law as much as MbS who nevertheless inherits the ruthless reputation. Please withdraw US support for the war in Yemen. Please let Qatar be reinstated, however which way you arrive at those decisions. Reforms evolve from positive contacts, not bloodshed and hostilities.

George HW Bush died, as everyone knows. I don't have much to say, (oddly I know). His personal values and courting style were admirable. His WW2 engagement as well. He doesn't need my remarks, to be sure. He kept things together in a time of system dislocation and generally, his presidency occurred at a time of my blissful ignorance of world politics. Junior has improved, out of office, and if his manners are telling of his upbringing then his dad was a fine man. I just hope Brian Mulroney doesnt break into song, like he did for Trump. That's about it. What I like most about him maybe, is that he was from the East Coast. Prince Charles is attending. That's noteworthy. Otherwise it's too bad the US only shine at funerals these days...
. . .
Update:
The king and queen of Jordan also attended. GW was moving and his cute gesture to Michelle Obama was super thoughtful. I guess Senior would have been a Brother in Arms with my uncle. And the fact he reenergized the UN is no small matter among other accomplishments. I'm glad my dog needed to do his business during Mulroney's speech. I can't unlink him to cannabis as its unsexiest supporter, sorry. Snoop Dog is going to have to rebuild that brand even more.
R.I.P.

Well it was nowhere as entertaining as expected, the whole Trump-Putin nuclear treaty drama. Quelle surprise Putin suspends his compliance. It will give time for the transaction of GE nuclear turbines (courtesy of Alstom via the Dept of Commerce in Huawei-style highjacking. I really must read Le Piège Americain...also to see Macron's role), to go through to help Putin's nuclear deal with Kim Jung-Un. I mean, they really think we're idiots. Sigh.

It's important to note, in an effort here to cool down, that a full and comprehensive set of Epstein files exists, outside the US. For some, it may explain the why of Trump's actions.
