seems hat Charlotte has sued voici. They are pretty miffed about it. There is a large article about this. apparently she got paid pretty well. They are comparing the media coverage of DSKs private life and judges allowing it and then their treatment of Charlotte...I bet the judge was male in Charlottes case. Personally I think that she knows that she is being photographed and if she wants quiet time, then she should avoid in spots. If she goes where photographers go, because they have a good chance of getting a pic they can sell, then she has to live with it. She is in a public space, not at home or in in area where she can expect privacy. I don't understand why voici didn't appeal. They could have gone till the European court. Judges there think differently on these matters and if they really want that law changed, then taking it to the last instance will send a message to judges at home, if you win. www.voici.fr/news-people/voici-le-mag/en-une-de-voici-lorie-et-charlotte-casiraghi-449497The reality is that she can't have her cake and eat it too. If she was not the face of Gucci and was strictly a private citizen regardless of who her Uncle and Mother are, then she should have some space, but she has chosen a higher profile and thus has to expect that when she leaves her house she is in the public domain and thus fair game. JMO You are correct. How can one be private when one is an author, an athlete in a sport that one publicizes, the partner in a recording studio, a fashion model, a niece of a monarch that publicly represents her country? Actors complain about the press, they love their art or craft and don't want anyone noticing them when they don't want attention. Well it actors need the public to buy tickets to movies and support their multi million dollar salaries. Charlotte could have her country bankroll any one of her above business endeavors but that would be silly. Her business pursuits need the public to notice and support with their purchasing euros and dollars. That is how anything is sold. ' CEO's of Coca Cola or Disneyland can sell their brand or product and remain anonymous. Those products can sell themselves without a celebrity endorsement. Charlotte is lending her name and face to products or business endevours to promote them. Because of her family connections she is starting at the top. And good for her to try to make a difference in the world, good for her to do something with her life other than being a party girl. She is an intillegent woman who has ideas and works to make them work. But public interest comes with anything that she does publicly and there is no way around that. She is selling to the public. www.nytimes.com/2012/05/20/fashion/charlotte-casiraghi-carrying-on-the-grimaldi-tradition.html?_r=1 Just don’t call her a model. “Protagonist” is the word Gucci uses to define Ms. Casiraghi’s role in its campaign, entitled “Forever Now.”
Ms. Casiraghi insists she is promoting only the Gucci “spirit,” not Gucci products.
“I’ve always refused to associate myself with a brand,” she told French Elle. The ad campaign “pays homage to the Gucci spirit, to 90 years of the history of the house, to our common passion for horsemanship. I do not represent any product or any collection.”
“Honestly, it’s rare to see someone so smart in this milieu,” Mr. Bern said. “But there’s a contradiction. She’s so intelligent, and this is such a frivolous world.”Yes indeed it is a frivolous world.

The gown looked tailor made for her. She has an unusual body type and the dress was fitted to her. It could not have been borrowed and the couture house Dior must have know that Carla wore it to see the same monarch that Charlene was to visit. No one said anything?

Carla's version of this gown is perfection. There is a reason for using a dark color for this type of gown. The pale pink that Charlene wore washes out in the paparazzi's camera flash.

Although I think that Charlene looks extremely masculine, I don't think she looks bad. Charlene looks like an ordinary mother of a bride who is appropriately dressed for an important event. That's all - no wow factor! ] Her choice is safe. It looks like Ariks again. Very minimalist and no baby bump.

These people do nothing but party! That is the life of the privileged. Unlimited resources. Self interest is their primary motivation. Image is everything. They occupy an insular world. What to wear. Invites to the right events. Where is the next vacation? Daddy pays the bills. My picture is in the tabloid. Don't talk to me you are nobody. Call the maid. Have you seen the latest couture collection? I'm so bored. Did you see my tweet? Remain relatively aloof at chic parties. Selfishness is a shared wealthy class trait. Spare me Lord.

"............Tells you everything about the class that is holding court in MC these days: mobsters and bunga-bunga girls. Bunga-bunga girls, so funny had not heard that adjective before. Yes Monaco is knee deep in mafia from various countries and awash in bunga-bunga girls. Perhaps the new priminster of France will take interest in the goings-on in Monaco. (Bunga-bunga hahah Where does that term come from?)

She is wearing white(ish)? I thought that you could only wear white by special permession of the pope or if you were (very) young? She wears a black veil in church in MC and now it's white? Married and still a virgin, is that the signal she is trying to send? Military? The only thing Monaco doesn't have is an army. Nor a navy, special forces or any kind of military department. France does that for them. So what are they doing at an event at which they have no business to be? Again? And shockingly wrongly dressed? Gatecrashing? (I'm seeing a trend developing here...) I don't think that she has embraced the French custom of wearing a lot of black. Princess Caroline frequently wears black and it is considered chic and fashionable to do so. Charlene favors in the neutral to beige color spectrum and I think that she was just recycling an outfit. Black would have been a good choice but it is spring already. As for the military issue, it could just be a diplomatic courtesy from Monaco to France. Generals don't go to Monaco to review the troops because there aren't any. Even the police are from France so Albert has to go where the generals are. I guess.

is it me or has assbert caught the surgery bug? He certainly seems to have lost some weight, but he also looks as if he had some botox done. Not as badly as trashy, but he has had sth done IMO I've noticed this as well. He looks different, more hair? Thinner? Younger? Happier? You are so right, he looks different.

Why is Andrea not involved in the MC activities? Any opinions? He probably does not want to. He is reportedly shy and not a publicity hound. I had read an article a few years ago, relating an incident in a night club. He went to a new nightclub and he did not know that he was going to be the main draw to attract the public and to gain publicity for the new club. He left the club and angrily said "I am not a trained monkey!" If one of the Grimaldi clan do not have to attend public events, why go? There are nine adults in the princely family that can show up for the family firm's functions. This will allow others to privately pursue their own life.

Albert could change the constitution if he wants to, to recognize any of his children as heirs. Rainier changed Monaco's constitution and there is nothing stopping Albert from doing the same. I wonder if the change made by Rainier was to protect the throne for Caroline's children and keep the throne from any of Albert's current children.
While Charlene can not possibly enjoy the negative press I would be willing to believe that she fully enjoys the lifestyle that accompanies bring married to a head of state. A billionaire's lifestyle would be comparable to a head of state or a reigning prince's way of living but the prince of Monaco's bank account provides for an unimaginable luxurious style of living. Then only thing that is unattainable is privacy. In respect to mateial things, anything and everything is attainable. A divorce with a settlement would not include the prestige that comes with being a wife of a billionaire prince. It would be surprising if a divorce happened so soon.

...................Caroline hasn't attend in years. And this Rose Ball was so odd that maybe they will continue with the "oddness" and will go Albert, Charlene and Charlotte. I was thinking that too. Maybe there is a concerted effort to do things differently, shake and mix protocol up a little.

Caroline is currently in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence not Monaco. She may be settling into royal semi-retirement. I expect that she will continue to attend many official events but the majority will be attended by Charlene. The presence of Mr and Mrs Chris Levine sitting behind Albert and Charlene does seem to encourage acceptance of Monaco's new princess. How and why? By who and to who? I don't understand--why would or should this would seem to encourage acceptance? I am curious as to your thinking here? I assume you ask why I said that Caroline is settling into her home in Provence? I saw several photos of her there in Provence over the Easter holiday. She may just be staying for the holiday and is there to relax. I have not read that she is staying for an extended period of time and I could be wrong on my observation. As for the appearance of Chris Levine and his wife at the Rolex Masters, what struck me was who was not there; Caroline or any of her family. Instead was Albert's cousin. It just appeared to me that a subtle message was indicating that Caroline is not so prominent now. Albert and Charlene are front and center in Monaco. Magazines published photos of Caroline pushing a shopping cart in a Provence supermarket and Albert, Charlene and Chris Levine were sitting in the official "royal" box at the tennis match. I could be reading more into this that there really is. imageupper.com/i/?S0200010040011N13348405482477758

Royalpauper, that is such a nice account that you shared with us. I've often thought that might be appropriate to have a thread for posters that have actually met some of the Monaco princely family. Elizabeth-Ann seems like a very nice person indeed. This makes me want to know more about her and her mother, Princess Antoinette.
